eufy Security Solocam S220 with Homebase (2 Pack) $549 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

40

Hi all,

looks like they've dropped some of the Eufy cameras down. i use them at home but not with the home base 3. from what i've heard, the AI is a bit of a gimmick but an upgrade is an upgrade i guess.

individually the cameras i could find as low as 200.
home base 3 is about 200 as well.

saving of $50! at least that's how i justify it to the missus.

4 back for anyone interested for 799.

Homebase 3 should provide the facial recognitio etc.

They still dont support a proper geozoning and scheduler function anywhere near as good as the arlo ecosystem. That feature requests has sat for years with eufy doing nothing about it.

  • This versus eufy 3 or 3 pro?

I went all in with cam3 kit and more. It's trash.
AI can't tell the difference between a GSD and humans. Has a maximum record time of 2 min (which it constantly failed to reach even tho activity is still happening.
Has min 5 sec delay between recordings, so critical details can go unrecorded.
Because it mistakes pet for people, it is always on, sending over 100 notifications a day, and battery doesn't get a chance to top up.

The s340/e340 often doesn't track a person walking by, even though it recognised a person

Can't set it up or haven't figured out how to set it to not notify me when it recognised family

It's got a feature where if you set a boundary, it should only activate when activity happens within it. It fails, a lot. In fact it does the complete opposite sometimes.

    • Having owned the eufy Eufycam3 4 pack with HB3 (different camera but same homebase) for around a year, although its not perfect, it has never been this bad for me. It has not once reported a pet as human or vice-versa. It sometimes does misidentify the person but I feel it has gotten better over time, probably having learnt with more data.

Yes, it does on occasion miss some short activities (under a few seconds) but I suspect that might be the case for any battery power camera as they always have to try to find a balance between power-efficiency and not missing events.

The cameras being solar, I have not once had to recharge them.

Overall the eufy ecosystem with its alarm, cameras, door/window and motion sensors, homebase and app all working reasonably well together have kept me reasonably happy without having to pay for a monthly subscription.

      • Thats the same kit, I also have 2x s340 and 1x e340

  • JB is a safe purchase tho, if it doesn't perform the way it describes, return it.

Goodbuys on the other hand, they are ignoring me. Going to have to take it to the ACCC.

    • Agreed with that observation. Goodbuyz ignored multiple emails from me (one camera did not hold charge).
