  • Some of the VIE flights will have a 2-3 hour stopover in Bangkok so take note of that.

I redeemed an award booking with BR from TPE to VIE via BKK back in Feb. Highly recommend it.

  • Question for anyone with experience travelling with ADHD meds (particularly dex) - what's the easiest stopover location you've found to Europe (balancing with cheapest flights too - hence commenting here)

Want to make sure I'm doing it by the book, don't want to just wing it.

    • I went through Guangzhou a few months ago with Vyvanse. First time with it so I was a bit worried.

Had it in my backpack through security- I think like every airport in the world, they're too busy to check. It just looks like any other medication on the x-ray.

I had a note from the Psychiatrist just in case, but I can't imagine it ever being needed.

    • Probably avoid Brunei / Royal Brunei.
Went there as an overnight stopover on route to Europe - when I was there, it was not that busy a place, and so visibly armed men manually searched basically everyone's bag, putting contents out on a table and asking questions, and Brunei practice Sharia Law.

Signs up basically said they would kill you if you had drugs, … literally that's what they said.

It was intimidating even for a law-abiding citizen with nothing to hide.

I would probably avoid other places with similar laws and values like Bali (Indonesia), Malaysia, and Thailand.
Googling it just now, I understand Dex is a problem in UAE (Dubai) and Japan also. https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/before-you-go/health/medica…

As a Frugal person, I'll do some fairly dumb things to save some dollars … but I struggle to sleep on planes, even when tired on long haul… so 41hrs with really unfavourable times BNE - MILAN is too much for me - no wonder they aren't selling well.

    • +1

Well it depends how you look at it. For me, I'd love to be able to spend a whole day in Taipei (stops seem mostly from 5 am to midnight) - check out the city and break up the long flight to Europe. Or, you could book a hotel room and sleep in between flights. But I understand its not for everyone :)

      • Im the same, I love travelling but hate flying so getting a taste of a country/culture on my way to my destination is a massive plus. Too bad I don't want return at all.

Many people say to never book flights through a third party, do you have many issues?

        • Again it depends. I've never had any issues, but generally, as long as everything is fine, everything is fine. Its when you need to make changes to your booking that you can run into issues. If I had to be somewhere on a specific date, for a wedding or something, I would probably book directly through thte airline just to be safe. That said, often dealing directly with an airline can also be difficult.

      • I would be happy with most of these long hauls if airlines made it easier to arrange a better stopover without much of a cost hike to stay longer. A couple of airlines are good at it facilitating it, others are not. Surely it is common people want to do the Australia to Asia (or Middle East) leg, have a good part of a day sightseeing/break plus an overnight stay to recover, then go again to Europe the next day. So if the same flight runs every day or two, let people book the second leg 24-48 hours later with little to no extra cost.

I literally cannot sleep in planes, I've done enough long/overnight flights to know this. Even after being up more than 24 hours already (due to a clash of exam timetables and my flight booked months in advance departing from a few hours drive away in a different city), when I boarded a flight Brisbane to London, I still didn't manage to sleep even though I was over 50 hours awake by the time I got there.

Another time I brought on fancy head supporting pillows and finally got to sleep once for I think ~15 minutes before someone woke me to get past to go toilet or something as I was on the aisle seat and then I couldn't sleep again.
