Telstra Modem Showing Red Warning Light

I was told by my flatmate the Telstra internet was down however I was already at work when the messaged.

Does anyone know how to resolve the red warning light on Telstra Modems? This similar issue happened before and NBN co had to be called to resolve.

Fed up with Telstra because I was third party authority but they keep expiring that after 2 years and I have not been able to access the My telstra App to investigate the modem issue on each occasion this issue has occurred.

I was told I would have a call back tonight when the account holder flatmate will be available and we can book a technician but seriously they have my proof that I am a resident of that address, its not like I'm trying to defraud Telstra or anything.

  • its not like I'm trying to defraud Telstra or anything.

You might be honest but others might not be - or use excuse that the person calling was not authorized to sign off on works and thus they can’t collect money without a lot of stuffing around

Maybe I’m missing something but why doesn’t the flatmate just call…

    • They rely on me for those things lol. Usually caught up with housework etc.

  • My mother's modem broke and I gave up trying to get Telstra to replace it. I just ended up buying a new TP-Link from JB-Hi-Fi.

Did you ask your flatmate to turn the modem off, wait a while, then turn it on again?

Also, is there a reason you can't pretend that you are the flatmate when you call Telstra?

  • Check here to make sure it is not NBN issue. https://www.nbnco.com.au/support/network-status

Can't believe people still use Telstra for nbn. One of the great things to come out of the nbn was less reliance on their copper network and allowing competition. There are so many better nbn providers that shit all over telstra. FFS.

  • Switch the Aussie BB or another quality provider. You can kick connections or port resets from the app. You'll nearly never have to call anyone if you have a non-outage fault.

      Switch the Aussie BB

They're not much better any more…

      • Name another retailer that lets you check NTD, Uni-D status and perform a port reset from their website and app?

        • None of that is important to me. I just need fast internet at a good price and good support when needed…
Aussie BB is too expensive and their support is not as good as it once was…

              That is very deep.

Maybe for you, but you are not everyone…

The flatmate is home and has an issue. Tell them to pick up the phone like a big girl/boy/they/xim and call Telstra.

  • Uses OzBargain.
    Also uses Telstra for NBN.
    Does not compute.

Also has worst username on whole site.

    • They diagnosed it as an NBN issue so regardless if I was with Telstra or not the issue would still be rearing its ugly head.

I'm back online now via 4g at least but only for who knows how long.
