nbn FTTP 250/100 is available without an ABN for $85/M for 6 months ($99/m ongoing).

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CG-NAT) and Static IP address.

Superloop use CG-NAT which works fine for most users. CG-NAT can break remote access to some home security cameras, some home automation products, Plex server, NAS, servers or if you want to host online P2P games. When you turn off CG-NAT you will be able to use remote access and host online P2P games again. Leave CG-NAT turned on if you don't do any of this.

If your home security cameras and automation products use a cloud server you will not be affected by CG-NAT.

You can get Carrier Grade NAT turned off for free if needed. Call up Superloop support or use the Superloop online chat on the Superloop website (red and black icon, bottom right).

$5/month is for a static IP address (this also turns off CG-NAT).

They are increasing price of 250mbps from $95 to $105 from next month. Existing Customer.

    • +20

      Change provider.

      Buddy Telco 1000/50 $99/m ongoing.
      Leaptel 1000/50 $99/m for 12 months.
      Leaptel 250/25 $89/m for 12 months.

      • -3

Doesn't Superloop use Leaptel networks anyway?

        • +10

No however Leaptel uses Superloop as their backhaul supplier.

      • Any good providers with 4g backup on residential plans ?

        • +2

I found everytime our HFC was unstable that both Optus and Telstra 4G service was so degraded by all of the "4G backup" usage from my 200 closest friends that you couldn't even make a call any more. YMMV.

          • @bienvenu: we have decent 4g back up from telstra … only thing holding me back

            • @ravzter: Yeah likewise. On the odd occasion we have lost the NBN the Telstra 4G backup is good enough to be able to stream 4K programs. I'd love to go to another ISP, but that is holding me back.

              • +1

@TT33GFC: where do you guys live to have net drop outs - im with Lautel and last 3 years - zero issues
not the cheapest but hard to leave them when its running perfect all the time.

                • @botchie: withing 15kms of syd cbd - and i wfh a lot - so cant risk no internet

      • Worth noting too that Leaptel will be upgrading speeds on existing plans in the coming months e.g. 100/20 plan will become 500/50 @ $80 for the first 12 months.
        https://leaptel.com.au/nbn-speed-upgrades-are-coming-heres-w…

        • +8

That's the same for all providers

      • FYI everyone, im an existing customer with super loop, my 100/50 plan was going to increase to 99/mo.

Called up 'cancel service' department, and told them im giving my 30 days notice now after receiving the price increase sms. They told me they had a new plan for 250/100 for 99 a month, i was able to negotiate down 250/100 to 89 a month for the first 12 months.

Dont settle for less then $89/month for the first 12 months for 250/100.

    • they do opticomm services and NBN as well.

    • +2

Just after they gave me a “free” eero router on a 12 month contract, they put their prices up. Sneaky buggers.

      • Wasn't it a 24 months contract for the free eero?

        • Oh crap! Probably cheaper to just pay it out and switch then.

    • Ask for a 2 year price guarantee, then you will get the free speed upgrade in September too.

      • Could you further explain how this works. Do we ask for a 2 year price guarantee before sign up or after sign up?

        • I was going to churn from them a few weeks ago, rang up to do the usually I want to leave spiel and they offered me a price lock guarantee for 24 months through the portal. It does lock me in with them for 2 years but it also means I will avoid any price increases over that period too. Given I've had no issues with their service I thought I might as well take up the offer.

  • +29

Didn't have problem with the service at all and its on par with Aussie BB, its just too expensive. Also these asswipes make you call to put some notice you are going to cancel and you need to give them 30 days at least. Never had such a problem cancelling with AussieBB.

    • +1

Can second this, Still waiting on a refund.

    • +5

make you call to put some notice you are going to cancel and you need to give them 30 days at least

Super annoying, although my call with them was much easier than the call with Internode and their sales tactics of offering the slowest speed to match the 100/20 offer of Tangerine.

Tangerine you can cancel in the account section, Spintel also seems to allow that… I think we need a wiki of the NBN providers and how you can give notice.

    • I dislike this about them, though they can be negotiable. E.g. I got the $10 off per month extended for an additional 12 months.

      • +1

By calling them they make you second guess and try to retain you.

        Frustrating to cancel.

It did however make me check i had a superboost balance that I'm burning through until my contract ends and start with leaptel

        • +2

This and no pro-rata refunds is annoying, takes me back to the Foxtel cancellation/negotiation days.

    • +2

yep, the biggest issue with these lot is the stupid 30 days notice for cancellation. you really need to plan around it by setting a later churn date and scheduling the cancellation for the future.

    • +4

It's not hard getting around the 30 day notice crap. Just hammer home the fact that it is unethical to force you onto the next billing cycle for a completely arbitrary reason.

      • Not just unethical - it's illegal! If you quote the law to them as you state that you won't be paying it they will yield.

        • Really?

I was with exetel previously before swapping to superloop and exetel wouldn't budge on the 30days notice. Luckily I was able to set the connection start date with superloop so I didn't have any double billing but exetel definitely wouldn't budge.

They tried to tell me that NBN charges them on the same basis so if they allowed immediate disconnects they would be down $x for each departing customer - not sure if true or not.

          • +1

@DeToxin: Well that's even better when you consider that Exetel and Superloop are the same company!

Look it might depend on how you word it. Mention the legality under Australian consumer law (that it's an invalid contact clause to charge for a service not provided) and that should be enough. Threaten to use the ombudsman if you have to. Whether it costs more for them or not with instant churning isn't your problem.

    • +1

Thought about changing because of this deal since my promo period with leaptel is over but this just puts me off. I think i'll just pay the extra and stay with leaptel, they've blown me away with the support they provide. While I haven't needed the support directly myself, an older tech illiterate family friend i put on leaptel called their support because they didn't want to bother me with the issue and I can't believe how far above and beyond the support agent went with them over the course of a week.

      • +5

Yeah leaptel support is gold standard.

    • +7

I won’t use this company again for that reason. There should be legislation requiring the cancellation process to be as simple as the sign-up

      • This.

  • +1

notice how they trying to lock people in at those speeds now.

  • +7

There's a lot of speed upgrades happening across the board. Leaptel will increase speeds massively in September, with 100/20 becoming 500/50.

    • +22

It's not just leaptel it's the wholesale nbn tiers, everyone will get upgraded

      • +1

aw man, makes me sad to read this cries in opticomm

        • same here, opticomm doesn't care

  • +11

legit its cheaper to get the 250/100 plan than the 250/25 plan on their site

    • Good. 250/25 is a joke in 2025. Hopefully plan dies off

      • +6

        250/25 will go from September.

Old Speed Tiers New Speed Tiers nbn Technology Type
        100/20 500/50 FTTP and HFC
        250/25 750/50 FTTP and HFC
        1000/50 1000/100 FTTP and HFC
        2000/100 HFC
        2000/200 FTTP
        2000/500 FTTP

FTTP 1000/400, 500/200 and 250/100 are sticking around.

        • Whats the cost for the 2000 ones?

          • +8

@tqqq: I don't know. nbn are charging providers this much…

            2000/100 = $115.
            2000/200 = $115.
            2000/500 = $150.

This is the before your ISP adds there charges.

          • +1

@tqqq: would be minimum 20 percent markup on the nbn wholesale cost

        • what about those even slower plans like 25MBPS or 50MBPS ?

          • @ravzter: 25/10 and 50/20 don't change.

        • +1

Do we know what's happening to 100/40?

          • +1

@S Baldrick: 100/40 is sticking around. I reckon you will have to manually switch speed tiers.

        • +1

and they do Opiticomm which is all FTTP.
they do a business plan for 145 a month which is 1000mbps download and 400mbps upload.

          • @kungfuman: Those new speed tiers are for nbn FTTP. I haven't seen any news about OptiComm speed changes.

            • @Twix: I am currently with city communications they charge me for an opticomm plan for 250mbps download and 100mbps uploads 159 bucks a month its hard to find a provider that offers the same upload speeds for 250mbps plans. I host my own cloud infra so I need to have decent uploads as well as downloads.

              • @kungfuman: OptiComm 250/100.
                Leaptel $110/m for 6 months ($120/m ongoing).
Launtel $4.70 a day and that works out to be about $141/m.

                OptiComm 500/200.
                Leaptel $130/m for 6 months ($140/m ongoing).
Launtel $5.30 a day and that works out to be about $159/m.

                • +1

@Twix: wow I can get a 500mbps with 200mbps downloads for less than what i pay now!! thats very good pricing thanks.

  • Any deals on 25/5?

    • +1

Rare to see intro prices below Fubar's standard $49.95 pricing.

    • +2

Dodo 25/5 $44.80/mth via Whistle out for 6 months

      • $44.8 p/m for 25/5 is daylight robbery.. I guess the fixed costs disproportionately affect the lower speed tiers

    • +1

Didn’t even know that speed was still offered.
This 100/20mbps speed will jump to 500/50mbps in September if you are on FTTP or HFC.

  • +29

Leaving these guys next month as part of telco churn - which seems to be the new thing you need to do every 6 months to pay reasonable rates in this country on an ever-increasing number of services.

No complaints on the internet service.

Calling them was annoying but not the most painful thing. I was just firm and polite. Decline the offer to give you $10 off your service for the next few months if you stay unless that is something you want. The "I'll confirm this discount with my manager" thing they do is just a sales tactic to try and retain people leaving.

I'm an advocate for the concept of "If I can sign up online, I should be able to disconnect online" and the call thing is a deliberate tactic to retain those who don't want to do that.

    • +5

I was able to cancel online without contacting any humans via their AI chatbot.

      • I tried that last time but they ended up calling me.

        • +5

Don't answer the call and they'll cancel it automatically. Just tried it right now. Logged a request on the chatbot and they said I'll get a call. Wasn't able to answer the call. After a few minutes, got an email saying my service was cancelled. Will end 30 days from now.

          • @chuchu: Good to know, will try that next time.

    • +1

had to call to cancel ABB, guy was really angry and upset, legit didnt try to convince us to stay or offer a discount since they are overpriced in the market.

      • Pictures the bald-headed founder doing a hissy-fit as revenue drops

      • guy was angry at me too lmao.

He asked me where i was going, and i said im probably going to go with superloop for their value, he said 'good luck with their customer service', unprofessional

  • +2

Trying to suck customers in then continual price jacking.

    • Can confirm this is this MO since I joined.

  • i'm with superloop at address X
im moving to address Y soon

    Am i a new customer at Y ?

    • +3

No, but if you have spouse get in their name instead and you should be good to go.

    • +2

if u transfer no, if u sign up as someone elses name in the new household, then sure

    • Confirming, this will work fine if you put in your partner or family member's name

  • TPG Fiber pricing is better?

    • +2

Not everyone has access to TPG FTTB.

      • +1

        ah I see, make sense.

  • +7

I was with them for almost 2 years from a deal I'd found here, their speeds were consistent and good.

However, it was annoying having to sit on hold every 6 months to then beg to keep the costs the same as recent deals they'd issued.

Recently signed up to Spintel for 250/25 at the cost of the what I was paying for 100/20 with Superloop.

If a company doesn't value my time, I wont value theirs and will not return.

    • +3

unfortunately every ISP is doing the same thing. only 6-monthly churners are ahead, subsidized by everyone else. it's a stupid system.

    • How was Spintel?

      • +1

spintel is good, expacially when other use your refer code, you get bounse dollor to your account and applied to your billing automatically, I always jump between superloop and spintel. Also ask superloop to match spintel price (close to spintel price) to extend my promo, recently get another 1 year promotion ( $10/mth discunt applied)

        • Are you getting same speed/ping/quality with both prividers? I'm with spintel and wanted to upgrade but they would apply my loyalty discount to the new plan. Go figure!

          • @gtech: They almost same quality according to my experience.

        • So everytime you have to go through 30 day notice of cancellation with Superloop? I'm on Superloop but each time I want to switch, can't be bothered going through 30 day notice hassle LOL

          • +1

@GPAK: This is why the make it 30 days, to take advantage of busy people…

Wasn’t that hard for me, I just pushed my start date of Spintel out 30 days.

            • @aaronmr: Oh didn't know you could push start date out. We can do this for any provider we switch to?

              • @GPAK: Unsure about any but with Spintel I could… I think most would be able to push it out a certain length, I’d just ask.

                Goodluck!

      • Hey! I can only give you my opinion but 3 months in and not a single issue for me… always get 220-250mbps with no drop outs.

  • -1

Dodo 100/20 $64.80/mth via Whistle out for 6 months

Dodo 50/20 $59.80/mth via Whistle out for 6 months

    • It annoys me that dodo doesn't have any plans with decent upload speed. I'm hosting VMs to be used remotely, and 20mbs up is a bottle neck.

  • I have also cancelled my Superloop nbn but have the eero 6+ modem received from that that I am not returning and will use with the next one, possibly Leaptel or more nbn. Are the Eero 6+ routers received from superloop locked to them or can they be used with a diff NBN provider after switching? Any advice on what needs to be done for it to work with the new service provider on new connection day?

    • +4

eero is compatible with other providers as long as it's been paid off.

If a Customer cancels their services prior to the end of the 24 month term and does not pay the clawback fee, the Amazon eero 6+ router will be locked and will be unable to be used with any other retailer. It can be unlocked at any time by paying the outstanding clawback fee.

      • Is the modem any good? Is it worth it given their higher costs? I'm an existing customer and saw that I could get one for free, but don't know if it's worth being locked in for it, I was considering jumping ship with these price increases.

        • eero 6+ router is suitable for Gigabit wired speeds. eero's are routers and eero's don't work by themself if you have FTTN/FTTB.

I'd wait for the usual Amazon $160 deal or if you swap to Leaptel they sell it for $170.

FTTP, HFC = nbn NTD + eero router.
FTTC = nbn NCD + eero router.
FTTN, FTTB = VDSL2 modem bridged to the eero router.

          • +1

@Twix: That's a huge help, thanks! I'm on FTTC, but looks like I'll pass on that one.

            • @Finner: All good. Have you looked at FTTP?

Leaptel has 100/20 $69.95/m for 12 months when you swap from FTTC to FTTP. 100/20 gets boosted to 500/50 FTTP from September.

              • @Twix: I'm in a strata managed apartment block so my hands are a bit tied, but I am trying. My line is limited to about 80Mbps, so 50/20 is the best I can get at the moment. Thinking of jumping to the Buddy deal and will see how things go with FTTP over the next few months.

                • @Finner: Yeah the FTTP speed boosts might make it an easier sell to strata and residents. How many apartments?
