FFS. I couldn't get the Sony store one and so, thanks mate, you just cost me $532…

I was buying one any way. Appreciate this as cheapest price I was able to get haha

    • +1

      Ridiculous price for a headphone.
Why do people think they are worth 500+ for these?

  • +11

    xm4's are still the top!

    • +8

Yeah, hard to justify +$300 ish for the XM6….

      • +3

Not really. While the XM4s were the best of them (3,4,5) the 6's are better overall according to sound tests, ANC tests and fit. Is that worth $300, probably not. Most top end items scale of price to performance never quiet match.

        • +3

Price will drop soon enough, best to just wait until travelling to take advantage of TRS.

          • @ATangk: TRS is basically take receipt in box to get gst?

        • How much are you gonna notice in quality? And is it worth 300 more?

      • +1

        Where are xm4s for $232?

        • You can get them every day for $150 second hand on ebay. Cheaper if you buy a pair that need replacement pads.

    • Xm6 is worth it for extra $232 imho

    • +7

I have XM4s and received XM6 today. You can literally hear nothing with ANC on with the XM6. This is light years away from the XM4s. It's a quantum leap away in technology.

      • +3

oh really? that's kinda cool i suppose if you listen at ultra low volume or just absolute silence then yeah

        • +2

I was typing on my Mac keyboard whilst I had them on (not playing any music) and could not hear the keys at all!

          Couldn't believe it.

    • They aren't. Got wife a set if xm4s as she loved my xm3s. The noise cancelling on the xm3s was far superior in all settings, as was the bass.

  • +3

Those people ordering from Sony for $50 off RRP of $699 are regretting their purchase. It was just throwing $$$ away

  • +2

how do you join JB HiFi Commercial?

    • +9

sign up for australian retirement trust. You get TGG commercial access too

      • Is sign up sufficient? Or do I actually have to move my super funds into it?

        • +1

          yeah just sign up

          • +6

@GUYANDSON: Thanks man for the tip. For anyone signing up, after you completed the sign up process, if using phone, click on the 3 bars at left top, then click on + next to rewards, then click on JB commercial.

            Thanks OP for the deal

            • @billa911: I signed up apt, clicked rewards and unlock jb hifi and then shop jbhifi. It then takes me to the jb hifi business site, but I'm not logged in and it's basically just a blank page. I can't order anything because I'm not logged in.

What's supposed to happen, should I be able to create a jb hifi account or should I automatically be signed in or what?

Edit: maybe it just took a little while for the account to get created or something. I tried a while later and this time it worked. I didn't have to create a jbhifi account, it simply let me browse and order after using the link from apt. Couldn't use gift cards though, which is a shame.

              • @fruxo: Grt it worked. Mine worked straight away. Yes. won't take my gift cards either.

I got a letter of authority emailed after an hr or so which I need to show while collecting. I will collect tomorrow.

                • @billa911: Yeah I got the letter of authority before store opened though. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to wait for order to be ready though, I'm hesitant to head over as it's a bit of a drive so I'll wait a bit. Let me know how you go when picking up.

                  • @fruxo: Yea. I'll confirm within a couple of hours.

                    • @billa911: I just called them, and it's ready to be picked up. So I guess the letter of authority is the only communication. A bit confusing.

                      • @fruxo: I just picked mine. Showed them the letter of authority, my Id ..happy days

          • +1

@GUYANDSON: Are there any fees if you keep the account open with a zero balance? Can’t find anything online and I’ve signed up but can’t find where to close the account

    • +4

Origin customers can get JB HiFi Commercial in the rewards section

      • I can see the JB hi-fi commercial in the rewards but do we still have to register an account for log in?

        • No, just click the link

    • i have Origin account , it has access to JB commercial too

  • Price shows $587 via toyota portal

    • Similar case here, but a different price again- I'm currently seeing $559.42 via the Union Shopper portal.

    • $587 via Wetspac app as well. Am I doing it wrong?

      • I found that the Jb hifi commercial discount varies from portal the portal, I go through Memberlink and I'm getting $533.

I had the WH-1000XM5s since release and then bought the Bose Ultras back in October, last year, to compare. The Sony's are better in terms of audio, in music and gaming. ANC performance was identical, in my view. Comfort for the Sony wins too. I found the Bose NCH 700 more comfortable that the Ultras as well (I still have the NCH 700 too).

I ended up returning the Bose Ultras to The Good Guys for a full refund as I had an issue where no one could hear me clearly when gaming. No issues when using my WH-1000XM5 or other headphones. I used the article on Bose's website as well (about the Self Voice issue with the Ultra), to justify a full refund, as it was evident the Ultra was a buggy mess. I checked now and it seems like they believe they've finally fixed the issue - nice work, Bose. 1.5 years after release date…

      • Yeah I’ll stay clear of em thanks!

      • I hope you are using these wired for gaming, wireless via BT has horrible latency.

"latency of 240ms in SBC, 288ms in AAC, and 247ms in LDAC. They had 10ms latency when connected to the audio jack on the phone, and 12ms when wired and powered on. "

That is a fundamental of Bluetooth though, not model, and why all wireless gaming headsets use a different wireless technology.

          • @Ademos: Yep, yet somehow many try to defend it as an option. People still get pissy Sony removed the option to connect BT headsets to PlayStations.

        • If you use a bluetooth adapter in your PC that supports LC3, this is reduced to 21.5ms. Example:

          https://www.amazon.com.au/FMA120-Bluetooth-Dual-Mode-Support…

Low-latency gaming audio as low as 19.5ms*
Ultra-low latency is achievable with the latest Bluetooth low-energy audio capable headsets and earbuds. The standard USB audio interface supports both speaker and microphone channels.

*19.5ms latency with aptX-Lite enabled devices, excludes USB driver. Confirmed devices include the Creative Aurvana Ace 2.

*21.5ms latency when using LC3 enabled earbuds and headsets. Confirmed devices include the Samsung Buds 2/3 Pro, Sony Linkbuds S, Inzone Buds and WF-1000XM5/6.

@akyeeeahdude: Oops I added this to my cart last night when there were 3 left, got distracted, now there are none :(

            I did find someone’s thoughts on LC3:

            https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyHeadphones/s/CxjwleBQj3

            • @2025: Hopefully they'll restock soon. I bought one when I posted this reply and it should arrive today.

Another option is the Creative BT-W6 as it supports LC3 (I was using an older version of this adapter but it doesn't support LC3). That being said, I did see a comment on Reddit or some other forum about some issues with this adapter and the WH-1000XM6. I wouldn't be too worried as once Sony releases a firmware update (still on day 1 firmware as of today), I assume some of the bugs will be ironed out

              https://au.creative.com/p/accessories/creative-bt-w6

            • @2025: Also, the WH-1000XM6 audio output quality whilst gaming, with the mic activated, sounds horrible. I went back to the WH-1000XM5 very quickly and then discovered that this should improve when I use a LC3 adapter. That's even with using the built in bluetooth on my Gigabyte Aorus Z790 motherboard which was released in 2023.

Will post back tonight, if the adapter arrives, today.

            • @2025: My Floogoo FMA120 adapter arrived today (supports LC3). Playing music from Youtube sounds great (it did before, using the adapter though) but gaming (with the microphone activated) is still quite poor. Fornite doesn't sound too bad but COD/Warzone sounds poor and almost annoys me at times. My WH-1000XM5s sound better in game so now I kind of regret buying the WH-1000XM6 and the Floogoo bluetooth adapter.

Latency wise, it's a win but it never bothered me that much before, anyway. Whilst connected with the microphone activated, quality is 32khz for audio output and input.

      • Bose QC Ultra is a rubbish, if you have one try to use it on running, good luck with the loud kicking noise on your ears.

I'd help but I've only got access through two different companies where you log in using your normal company login. If you want me to help you out, PM me (I can buy it for you if you give me your paypal credentials and then you can change your password after I'm done).

      • +3

If this is legit, it's a nice offer.

Never give anyone your Paypal account password so they can buy a deal for you though..

        • +2

Yeah, that's a valid point that I can see in hindsight. Just replied wanting to help out because it's a good deal. Intentions are honourable but I won't offer next time, for the reason you said.

          • +1

@akyeeeahdude: Yeah I checked and I can see you've been a member for ages so 99.99% I can see the intentions were good. Have a great day :)

      • -1

Haha do you want my bank card details as well?!

        • Well…you offer to do something nice for someone and that's the reply you get? No different to selling something on these forums and posting it to the buyer. Look at how long I've had my account here for.

Next time just say no thanks. Leave the cock reply behind…

        • Thanks for the neg on my last comment, too…

    • +4

I just signed up to ART in 2 minutes. It would be dumb for someone to give their login details to you. Get off your arse and create your own account.

  • +2

Thanks @MrFizz - you're absolute legend. I was nearly going to buy from the Sony site using the 10% off uncapped Unidays discount, then the $50 AMEX rebate.

  • Is it worth upgrading from xm3?

    • +3

For the comfort factor - yes. The WH-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM6 are a completely different design which I find to be much more comfortable, when used for an extended period (2+ hours). I've owned WH-1000XM3, WH-1000XM4 and WH-1000XM5 (all purchased on released day) and audio wise, I never noticed any difference. WH-1000XM3 to WH-1000XM4, when asked, people did mention that my voice sounded more clear which makes sense as the WH-1000XM4 added an additional microphone in one of the ear cups.

      • Thanks!

      • -3

Do you have something against using abbreviations?

        • +3

Probably clarifying that they aren’t taking about the WF-1000XM5. There are subtle differences between the two models.

          • +3

            @2025: I also have the WF-1000XM4 and WF-1000XM5 as well 😃

            • @akyeeeahdude: Do you also work at Sony to be able to afford all these?

              • @FFx0: Haha - I wish I did. I upgrade as soon as a new model comes out and I don't always end up selling my old pair. I justify it to myself as I use them for 2-5 hours, each workday, for meetings etc.

      • My wife and i found the 4 to be quite a downgrade from the 3 in nc and bass. How about you?

        • I bought the WH-1000XM4 on the first day they were released and I wanted to notice a significant difference but I didn't. Same performance in work meetings, phone calls, gaming and music in terms of NC and bass. One thing I'll highlight though is that for the WH-1000XM4s, firmware updates did improve performance, early on. When review sites test these headphones, I'd take a stab and say they're using the day 1 firmware.

$500 is the new $350 norm?

  • I received my order for these today, via the new starter $50 + Amex $50 + (possible) CR cashback, for $540 net. But this is much better as it's a guaranteed price. Have initiated a return under their 30 day policy.

Shame you can't use JB gift card to pay on this one.

Anyone get "order is under review" after ordering? Is this normal?

    • -1

Are you sure jb gift cards can't be used? I have a bunch from earlier deals. I can't remember my login so I need to sort out a new account to access the commercial site before I can check it out myself.

Also, can you pick up from store or is it delivery only? We are going away literally the day after they are released, so I can't wait for delivery.

      • They have already been released. I have a set here direct from Sony.

Payment is credit card or Paypal. Can't see any way to use gift cards,

        • Wait what. Last I checked, they were preorder for 9th or 10th of june. Thanks for the heads up!

Exit: jb seems to list them as in stock. Good guys and Amazon still lists them as preorder for 10th of June. Harvey Norman preorder for 14th of June.

    • +1

Yes. It's normal. It's goes order under review and after its processed, they email you a Letter of Authority for pick up.

      • +1

Thanks - they confirmed the order now but no letter yet.

  • THANKS SO MUCH! it worked!!

  • Is it $532.24 including or excluding GST? My price is $533.26 excluding GST and $586.59 including GST.

    • +1

Literally just signed up for australian retirement trust, and It's showing $532.24 (inc GST) for me here.

  • +2

XM4 are GOAT. When they die I might consider these.

    • -5

I am doing fine with 10 dolla earphones. People are decieved.

  • tempted to swap to these from my bose QC45.. not sure how good the upgrade would be though

  • "Delivered by Monday 2 June"

weren't these being released on june 10th in aus? anyone get theres?

    thx op

  • Managed to order with click and collect. If for some reason I can't collect despite being in stock (ie maybe they messed it up as every other place only has them for preorder), can I assume that it would be no problem to either cancel the order or return them immediately when eventually picking them up?

Just in case others (good guys commercial?) starts listing them for the same or better price but with earlier availability.

  • d😭b

  • Good deal for someone can asses JB commerical. Tried it on today and I was blown away by the noise cancelling. I will patiently wait for seconds or box damaged from ebay.

  • I have JB commercial, but not this corporate benefits and can't see to access :(

    • just sign up to Australian Retirement Trust, its pretty easy

  • Thanks Op, ordered via Australian retirement trust

  • Anyone who ordered on JB via ART - I have an order status link but it requires a login. No idea what credentials to use.

    Anyone know?

    • Once registered on the ART main page I clicked on the 3 strip bar on the top side (from mobile phone) then I clicked on the JB commercial, once on JB Comm I search the Sony then go trough with check out - no need login / credentials to buy.

      • I am not talking about buying though, I already did all that. This is an order tracking link that comes later, and requires a login.

        • Login from your ART email that you received when you signed up.

On your ART email click on ART logo, do the login and then go to the rewards, choose JB business, click on the unlock the offer, shop rewards, and then there you are on JB comm account.

          • @MauTauAja: I already tried all that - this is fine for shopping but does not provide the required "JB Hifi" login and password and does not show the order status.

There is a "Track my Order" button on JB's site but it does not accept the order ID in my JB email.

Anyway, I already received tracking from Auspost for my order now so its probably a moot point.
