$0 fees first year for existing NAB customers

  • So I can make up the $5K spend by using it on anything such as utility bills, school fees, etc?

    • -2

Anything except balance transfer/ .gov payments (ATO, etc) / council rates / fine payments are considered as "spend" by the bank.

    • About 8% discount

  • +1

    Does Bpay count as spending?

    • +1

Generally not on most rewards cards

    • How do you use bpay on a credit card?

      • The same way you would with a regular account/debit card, through internet banking

  • +2

Still eligible if you have closed a NAB card recently? Can't see any restrictions.

      Same q

Seems as though there is no restrictions unlike QF point bonuses.

The extra line is a little ambiguous. I assume opening this card alongside say a NAB Rewards Platinum would be fine then? I wouldn't be closing or transferring.

        • I'm assuming the same, I could go to the offer and open a new credit card (I currently had the NAB Reward Signature). I started spending so hopefully will the the cashback.

Otherwise that make no sense to say "$0 annual fee for existing customer"

          • @celas: Who knows, AF and Cashback could have different terms. $0 AF is for existing customers. Cashback has a lot more terms with it. Will find out in a few months, had some basic bills that needed paying anyway so not going out of my way to meet the spend criteria.

—- So do they only pay the $400 at the 6 month mark? even if you hit the $5000 spend in the first month? Secondly, is it $400 credit that you then have to spend (e.g. buying gift cards) via the credit card?

    • So do they only pay the $400 at the 6 month mark?

Would like to know too. If I have to wait 6 months for the credit, then I'm getting other cards.

  • +4

This is not a good deal. You'd better get Low Fee card with $200 for $1500 spend, so you can apply 2x Low Fee card and $400 for $3000 spend.

Or CBA Low Rate card $450 cashback for 6month x $500 spend each month

    • Nah, it's ok if, say, I have to buy my wife a $5k handbag…

      • then you can get Low Fee card from NAB, CBA, ANZ to get all the bonus offer.

      • +2

Made in china luxury hand bag?

    • +1

      Yep CBA way better.

    • Definitely better on the lower spending criteria. But it’ll take at least 6 months to obtain the credit from each month and you pay a $6 per month fee for the card

      • +1

6x $6 =$36 <$59 from this card and comparable to NAB low fee card.

Paying $6 per month is like paying annual fee pro-rata and it is better than paying full annual fee and you will cancel the card as soon as you got the cashback.

        • +1

Existing NAB customers have no annual fee for the first year. Anyone can simply open a savings account and become a member. So $0 fee.

    • you can apply for 2x the same card and get the promotion ?

    • Low fee card has annual fee of $30

  • Paying off tax debt.. does that count?

    • I guess it’s debt, not a purchase :-/

      ?!

    • if you proxy it via pay.com.au yeah

  • +1

Awesome. This will cover the $320 fine I just recieved.

    • +1

That's a fine tax you have there.
Our fine prices are debilitating. It's so unfair that everyone pays the same crazy amount. I don't get why no one lobbies their mps to reduce fines.

  • 29.95% per anum

  • no cooling off period to apply after recently closing one ? does not say anything on the T&C

  • does anyone know how to track/view when you can reapply to another bank credit card after the exclusion period? p.s. ive lost track how many i've turned in past 6 months but dont know when i can reapply again

    • There is no easy way and you'll need to keep track yourself. Having said that https://www.rwrds.com.au/ is what I use to keep track of my card history. You still need to input when you closed off which card and accessible as long as you have access to internet.

  • NAb are so crap.

Tried to sign up "sorry, you already have a NAB ID, sign in and try again"

Haven't been with NAB for 2+ years. Try all known NAB IDs, none reset password to a phone I've ever used. Terrible lol

  • Since everyday purchases only exclude transactions NAB decides are wholly or partly for gambling or gaming purposes, if we pay ATO via Bpay using this credit card, would that count towards the $5,000 spend?

    • I am talking to NAB and asking the same right now. Will report back soon.

      • +3

Bpay transaction are considered purchases. As they are not excluded on the offer page, they are ok. The only exclusions are gambling purchases predominantly.

"Everyday purchases exclude transactions NAB decides are wholly or partly for gambling or gaming purposes which are treated as a cash advance. NAB may vary or end this offer at any time."

          Cheers thanks mate

  • Just signed up to this card. They allow you to add card from NAB app to google wallet before receiving the card. Great for those who have urgent payments to make.

    • +1

Yep! Just applied for this while still having a NAB Rewards Platinum card. Was instantly approved and able to add the card to my apple wallet. Have a few expenses coming up which will total the $5000 criteria. $400 cash back on that isn't anything to balk at.

      • Should note there are better deals about, but I'm pretty much within the exclusion period for all of them at the moment…

        • Deals for lower value or what? I have a $5k purchase coming up if I can get it past the CFO. Search not immediately obvious so if you have done the homework I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.

          • +1

@dealbrowser: I'm just meaning in general. There's plenty of Qantas cards or rewards points cards, but I've basically gone through all banks and excluded for at least another 6 months.

ANZ Rewards Black is a decent one, but they've lowered the points from 180k to 160k, plus you need to hold for 15 months to get the full 160k. NAB Rewards is decent.

All of the rewards continue to get lower and lower at this stage.

  • Anyone received the cash back yet? How long does it take please?

    • +1

So 6 months potentially. Not sure how long it is in practice though.

    • Almost end of July now.. has anyone received their cashback?

Edit: from last thread it took the three full month for most people.
