It is pretty ridiculous that this game still sits at such high price points. It is definitely an incredible game, but $45 being a deal 6 years after release is getting into Nintendo levels of greasiness.

Why is it ridiculous for a GOTY to cost $45? Like sure, cheaper would be cooler but it's not ridiculously priced to me. And it's a genuine GOTY, not randomly slapped on.

Because it is a 6 year old game and charging $45 for a 6 year old game in itself is wild enough, but then considering it worthy of posting on a bargain site is just as wild. Accepting games that never get cheap and affordable is just going to allow it to become the new norm, which it certainly seems to be the case more and more lately, and it just prevents more people from getting to experience an incredible game like this.

I completely agree with this. I had raised a similar point with No Man's Sky a year ago but someone replied to say that that game still gets updates and so you could justify the high price even on sale. But for a game like Sekiro where there is no active development, $45 is a high price considering how many years have passed. I am not saying that it is not worth it - this game was a GOTY for a reason but I would think real hard before spending this amount on a game that is 6 years old.

          • @alwaysupforabargain: you could say the same about RDR2, HZD, CP2077, God Of War etc…

not exactly cheap to buy but they're great games, and i can see why they're still expensive after so many years.

            • @dukeGR4: Not really a valid comparison when every single one of those titles you mentioned have all been on sale many times for very affordable prices. RDR2 is one of the greatest games ever released and it regularly goes on sale for dirt cheap, so the reasoning that games should stay expensive for many years after their release is pretty invalid there.

$25 on the grey market. Or just pirate it. Totally agree $45 is overpriced for a 6 year old game (particularly a single player game).

I am fine with good games getting cheaper slowly. It’s in vast contrast to the $100 yearly repackaged slop games that the major game studios shit out

          • @garygaz: I agree with you but this game's been going on sale for this same price since 2021

I swear its this price every single time it goes on sale. Just never see it dip below this on Steam.
