Roamless are a great value, global e-sim provider.
Use the code to pay $15 (USD) and get $30 global credit with no expiry.
You can use them to force regional Telstra 3G in AU as well (handy for optus users travelling remotely)

Wrong, I was on 3G just last week in remote WA and Roamless saved my vehicle from my spotify pre-saved music!
(and yes of course it has 4G)
It's just in marginal, remote service areas, 3G is reliable and most modern phones cannot be forced to a stable 3G connection.
With an e-sim, you can in the settings. The nationwide shutdown on Telstra began in October last year and was completed in November. Not sure what you were connecting to, maybe a private/leased tower as some mining sites may still operate on their own premises for workers and which may still be broadcasting 3G potentially, but it wouldn't have been the standard network.
I've never had a problem forcing Android phones onto 3G. It's a good way to get signal when in a crowded area (stadium etc).
Haven't been able to find the option on IOS though
Was always a good trick, and still works for 4G now that 3G is dead, with everyone saturating 5G instead at major events yeah.
New users only?
No.expirey means what exactly ?
Many travel sims give you a limited time to use your credit / data and then it expires. Roamless let's you keep a bank or credit indefinitely.
It's a good backup if you only want to Uber to/from airport or use WhatsApp for critical contacts. It's saved me a few times when my other travel SIM doesn't work.
I've messed with a number of travel sim providers. Roamless is my primary now, I don't even bother going elsewhere.
@philotex: Yep I travel often and have one in my phone, and one in my laptop.
Peace of mind I can go anywhere and it just works everytime without fail.
Absolute legend company!@John Dough: I'm a fanboy. FYI, I would mention in the subject or description that this is only for first time purchases. I got excited and then realized I didn't qualify.
The 3G network doesn't exist anymore…
Wrong!
The 15 that you pay for don’t have a expiry but the bonus 15 have.
It’s also a bit confusing on how long that expiry is, in the redemption area it’s 10 days. But in the main page it’s to November after topping up earlier this week.
For me, it doesn’t matter as I would be using most of the bonus 15 this week anyway
They are a reputable company and don't hide anything in Ts & C's that I have ever found.
I would be super surprised if the extra credit has an expiry, it never has in the past.Yes it has in the past, have you read the T&C's?
lol their checkout page borks out if you're blocking Facebook. Nice error handling guys.
What does it mean no expire? Umm Telstra 3g in regional network doesn't working.
3G is still a thing, I was on it last week in remote WA.
But granted it is just about gone! When you top up roamless data/credit, it NEVER expires. It's a very good platform compared to others because of this.
And most of the time it's cheaper than a lot of other deals.
I love Roamless, so easy and the free credits Mount up
This is the way!
I've never heard of the company. And I'm not clear on the idea behind the product.
Is it intended as a backup for use in Aus?
Whats the phone # you're given?
We're planning on going to eastern Europe for 6w in a couple of months. Would this be suitable?
If we went os the following year, do we just topup the acct?
(It's loosely sounding a bit like comparing a wyze card with buying a $100gift card(?))
Alopogies for the QsThis fits firmly in the category of "Data Travel Sim". What this product does is give you an e-sim that will automatically connect to the network of the country you are in and charge you per GB rates as you use it. It will only give you data, it will not give you a phone number nor give you SMS functionality. You top up your account and can see how much data/money you have used as you go. Some people prefer to pay the crazy daily international data rates of Telstra or Optus. Some people prefer to buy a physical 1-week sim. This lets you pay as you go indefinitely.
- Its intended for international travellers, its way too expensive for locals doing long term stay in Australia.
- You don't get one, its data only.
- It may be, it depends on how much data you intend to use. Its not the cheapest when it comes to price/GB, but unlike most other travelling esims, you can keep any data you don't use for trips elsewhere and they don't expire.
- If you don't use much data, you may have enough for next time without topping up again.
Thx @Asti and @pilotex.
I dont think ive ever roamed with our Aus carriers whilst travelling OS. (But being able to receive SMS is noice!) I DO find the PAYG idea attractive (a bit like PAYG parking meters). A huge conceptual flaw with “tradition eSIMs”(!) is that you cant top them up as you go, requiring people to guesstimate their max requirements while still in Aus.
Sounds like a real game changer!Apologies. Meant to say TRAVEL eSIMs
its way too expensive for locals
Not so, if you use less than 1GB of data a month.
My new phone plan is way cheaper using eSIM than any other plan I've seen recently on OzBargain:
- $60 annual "text and talk" plan (on a physical SIM) with Amaysim gives me unlimited calls, SMS and MMS (= $5/month)
- $10 yearly (added to the above Amaysim plan) for 1GB of local data, for apps like the 7-11 app, that require you to have a local IP to lock in fuel prices (= $0.83/month)
- $2/month for an average of 500MB data usage via eSIM, currently on Roamless.
That's a total of $7.83/month, and I challenge you to find a cheaper plan for a person with low data needs.
Even if I used 1GB/month, then I'd use an Eskimo eSIM, costing slightly under $3/month for that data usage. So total cost would be about $8.65/month at the current exchange rates.
An alternative, when looking at the terms you posted, could be the HELLO20 promo. 20% off, min of $20 purchase.
less bonus (paying $16, getting $20 credit VS paying $15, but getting $30), but will last indefinitely.
I may have done the whole thing wrong.
I wanted to get an esim to use in China.
I've got the $15.25 flex credit, and the bonus $15 reward global.
Can I use the whole $30.25 as flex credit in China, or do I need to get flex for China separately?
You’re good to go for China! It will work worldwide.
Awesome!
So do I install the E-sim in China using WiFi, or install from here?
Tried installing it the other day and it tells me to turn one of my Sims off.
Be aware that the per-GB charge for data changes per country. For example, their "RoamlessFlex" data is US$2.45/GB in Australia, but US$3.95/GB in China.
Roamless also have "RoamlessFix" plans with cheaper fixed amounts of data, e.g. US$24.95 gets you 10GB of data to use in China. That's close to half the price/GB compared to the RoamlessFlex data, BUT RoamlessFix data expires after 30 days. So that's probably more economical for a holiday, and you can keep the RoamlessFlex data as a backup if you go over the 10GB.
You can install the eSIM here in Australia, which means you don't have to waste time trying to install overseas. And then test by visiting a few websites to check it works.
Find out where your Roamless plan connects to the internet - for me, websites think I'm on the island of Mauritius, near the east coast of Africa. If you're intending to do any internet banking while overseas, your bank will think you're in Mauritius or some other country than where you're holidaying, so tell your bank to not be alarmed when they see you trying to connect from that country.
it tells me to turn one of my Sims off.
How many physical SIMs and eSIMs do you have installed?
Anything for existing users?
Another noob Q. Installed the esim then added $35 of credit with the Hello15 code. My Home Screen says i have $35 of credit (only). The rewards page says its its been applied - And expires in mid June(!). Emailed support last night - no response yet. :-(
Emailed support from the phone app this morning and got a response straight away. Sorted
Hopefully 4G too now that the 3G network doesn't exist.
