Do we need to worry about burn in on these?
Unfortunately being an oled, burn in is always a concern. However it does have Dell 3 Year burn in warranty and some burn in protections built in.
I bought one anyway even though I use for both work and gaming, for the beatiful image in gaming, its worth it for me, will never go back to ips.
I use my QD-OLED monitor (AW3423DW) for about 8-10 hours non-stop each day. Mine was the launch batch AW3423DW, and it had image retention (not really burn in, but looks similar) after 1 year. It was replaced under warranty. The second AW3423DW has been going for over 2 years now with zero image retention. There have been firmware updates since launch and likely panel improvements as well for the newer batch to not have the same image retention issues as the first batch.
This AW3425DW will have all those improvements from the AW3423DW, and further hardware improvements as well, so I don't think image retention or burn in will be an issue. The Advanced Exchange warranty is good too, once you raise a warranty support ticket and go through the troubleshooting steps that Dell's tech will provide to you, they will send out a replacement monitor to you first to use, and once you are happy (up to 2 weeks from memory), you send your old monitor back to them (they will pick up from your home, you just book it with the courier using the return shipping label that they will provide).
Thank you both for these helpful responses
I bought one almost 3 years ago now - I kept decent care of it, but sometimes left it on a little too long. There was a bit of burn-in on one corner of the display, and of course the Windows taskbar was a slightly dark line down the bottom too - but it was only really noticeable when I tried searching for it. I just raised a Dell service request and they sent me a brand new one nice and quickly. Couldn't be happier with the purchase and the support quality.
This time around I'll be turning on auto-hide for my taskbar and taking a bit more care while using it, and if I can get another 3+ years of flawless use I'll be very happy.
Nice that you got brand new replacement, I heard it was a bit hit and miss with the warranty replacements, apparently a lot of times people get a Refurbished as replacement instead.
My replacement could potentially have been refurbished, but it came with all the peels still on the monitor, so I'm assuming the best!
My replacement was brand new too. All the seals were intact and accessories and packing all brand new. That's why I suspect there were some changes in the later batches that they sent a new monitor. Being a 3 year warranty, I could have gotten another replacement before it ended, but with the new one, there were no issues even after 2 years.
Muzeeb can surely do better than this
Anyone got one of these and have any thoughts on text clarity?
Allegedly it was supposed up be a different pixel structure on this newer generation panel but isn't.
And the reviews/comments I can find vary from 'I literally can't look at it anymore' to 'what are you even talking about it's fine'
It took me a grand total of one day to stop noticing it. First time you see it, can look a little odd - but it's almost immediately forgotten about from my experience. Fiddling with TrueType in Windows makes it even better as well.
yeah fair enough. appreciate the info
I have this monitor, and personally cannot see a difference between the text on this screen vs my old IPS.
Please note: I did not do side-by-side comparison, just from memory.
A little birdie told me that there's a rumour that muzeeb is now working for Amazon. Fingers crossed.
