  • Buyer beware, Dyson quality is not what it once was. You'll be lucky to get 3 years of high use out of Dysons these days (batteries much less). Upside is Dyson is highly compatible with the Dewalt/Makita/Milwakee etc adapters. I have a graveyard of non-working Dysons in my laundry room from v8 - v11s

    • My V11 lasted me for almost 6 years, the trigger was broken in the 5th year and manage to extend it for another year. The final year, the trigger start acting up and upon reopening and replacing the trigger, all the plastic screw holes also broken in the process, guess time to get a new ones.

I think the Dyson of 6 years ago is not the same as today unfortunately. I remember my Dyson from 2010 was a beast too…!

        • That’s a shame, I bought my V10 absolute plus on a ripper deal for $800 in 2019, and this thing just won’t die! I have 2 dogs and a cat and this vaccum is an absolute beast and the battery still goes good, does not charge to full anymore but can still vaccum my whole house before it goes flat. Use every 2nd day at a minimum.

Absolutely was worth every cent I paid for it. Real shame if now they are not the same and making cutbacks.

U r absolutely right. Now days these r too flimsy. Doesn't suck on carpet and gets stuck. Not strong. Cheapo

      • Man, that sucks. Not literally though

That was exactly my feeling when I started looking at them closer at shops - feels cheap, just doesn't feel like $1000 device. Then I compared to one of those knock-offs and honestly they are so close for the fraction of price. They must doing reverse engineering as it looks and works really good and honestly does everything what Dyson does or even more (like standing upfront).

      • +2

Which knock-offs are you referring to . Interested as well.

Agree, imho they are not worth a fraction of this price. It's all marketing, no performance

not quite the Black Friday deal that I'm waiting for

  • -1

    will wait till around 800

    • was less than $800 last black friday

  • Was debating this for the past 2 days at this price but it’s been lower; so I’ll wait

got this one last Black Friday @ $699 from Dyson after cashback and bank bonus on shopback. have used it for 6 months now and no complaints.

  • I remember was around 699

    • I think that was for a refurb and had to visit Dyson service centre.

      • Naaah… We ordered directly from dyson

    • I watched this video a few days ago, it looks promising but that's just way too small. Unless they make a bigger version but looks promising either way.

pencilvac won't be a replacement for a stick vac. it's meant only for very light work. all the media that's been put out show it only doing light work, hair/dust on flat smooth surfaces, no carpet. the available attachments are also only suited for that same light work. the bin is very small compared to an already small stick vac bin. single battery only lasts 30m assuming lowest power setting, but is swappable. it's kind of like the 90s handheld dustbuster of stick vacs, good for quick and easy stuff, but you'll still need to lug out the bigger vac for everything else. Also it'll cost almost $1k according to pricing on jap site

    • The problem with the smaller and lighter you make things, you sacrifice battery power and how much storage you have on board.

I was looking at getting a Samsung S25 Edge because it was thinner and lighter than the current offerrings. It has a smaller battery than the current Samsungs.

I saw a video where the presenter made the point, with a smaller battery it won't last as long in use and as the battery gets older the performance will drop more.

      So I junked that idea.

As someone who has this because we have a dog that sheds a lot.. this has been amazing for pet hair. At the time I bought this there wasn't many competitors that could prevent hair/fur tangling on the brush head.

But I will say that for the motorhead that it comes with.. the 2 litttle circles on ths side that help your vacuum turn/glide tend to break. I've had mine replaced 2 times (for free) because they keep cracking/falling off.

  • Just bought this 1 month ago for $1,100 grrrr great machine though
