What software did you use to run it as a webcam?
Mine is the Mk I so no native webcam support. I bought a cheap usb hdmi input device and used a hdmi cable to connect the output from my camera to my laptop. Then in MS Teams I select the usb hdmi input as my camera source. Works well and used it for a couple years at least. Camera still works despite many thousands of on time
Another option to consider is a hard wire kit that allows you to power the camera via USB. USB power banks are dirt cheap and have massive capacity. I did this when using my A7 as a Web cam via a capture dongle for work.
