I never understood the name head and shoulders. I mean who shampoos their shoulders?

  • Few years back I watched some youtube video of someone well known (cannot remember what that was). The guy was travelling and out of shampoo for a week. So he just washed his hair with plain water with great results
I tried the same for a week, then a month and now its probably 2 years. Used shampoo maybe twice, to wash out dirt and oil from working on a car

    • Same for me. Havent used shampoo for 4 years now, hair fall stopped l. Dandruff didnt go away but its no worse then wheni was shampooing regularly

    • I have tried this many times over the years. It does not work for me at all. I need to shampoo daily else my hair is a bird's nest.

I have very very oily scalp. I wash my hair daily. 5 hours after washing, no physical activity just walking around the house, my scalp would have some oil in it. If I leave my hair unwashed for 1 day, it becomes very oily and changes the appearance of my hair. I don't have dry/itchy scalp, dandruff or any of those symptoms. I once tried the 'wash with water' approach and after 3 days my hair was extremely oily. Couldn't comb it properly.

      • You have to wash daily or as oil builds up. Just wash it long enough with hot/warm water until you feel that hair is no longer slippery/not absorbing water.
Give a week of this and see how you go. If you are oily by evening, then try washing twice a day

I'll actually try this and see how I go. I'm also on a relatively clean diet and gym 5x/week as I know eating highly processed foods can contribution to oily hair but I avoid unhealthy foods.

    • agreed. also, this shampoo brand is specifically habit forming ie if you do not use it daily then the hair become messy and greasy. better off with water for washing hair and if too dirty from some work then maybe use ph neutral baby shampoo.

    • I would also suggest trying those showerhead attachment filters. I used it for about 3 months before getting whole house water filter installed. I feel that chlorine removal/reduction helps a lot with dandruf. Plus what you eat

    • If he was out of shampoo why couldn't he have used soap instead?

      • Cannot remember the story. If you have skin issues yourself, you would not be using soap if you ran out of your shampoo. I would not

        • I've used soap on occasion when I ran out of shampoo.

if you're trying to control dandruff do yourself a favor by spending a little bit more and getting this stuff. worked wonders for me

    • What's the benefit of T Gel if H&S works for you?

  • I had more luck with T-Gel.
