  • Excellent price. And reasonable shipping. Ordered a pair.

Deal is great but sadly the beer has had the biggest fall from grace

    • +1

      Please explain?

      • +15

The taste is nothing close to what it was years ago.

        • +8

          Agree! Its gone to $hit.

          • @mitch21: It's definitely gone down in quality.

Unfortunately, that's generally what happens when breweries sell out to one of the larger conglomerates. The previous owners of Stone & Wood / Fermentum had previously stated that they wouldn't sell out to one of the larger companies and wanted to build a multi-generational brewery that remained independent. Within a couple of years of making those statements, they ended up selling to Lion.

    • +5

agree, doesn't taste like it used to

    • Thanks!

    • +1

I'm guessing it was bought out and changed the recipe to save $$$ or something?

      • +4

Exactly. Went from a small brewer to being bought out by Lion so the enshittification began. I used to love Pacific Ale. Was nice and fruity. Genuinely the best pale ale I had ever drunk. About 6 months after it was bought out, it went to absolute rubbish and after trying it a few more times and it remained the same, I gave up on it.

    • I thought it was just me or a bad batch. I bought a case of this beer, Pacific Pale Ale. I used to love this beer. The first bottle tasted bad, so I tried a second one, and it was the same.

I ended up returning the whole case. Luckily, I got my money back. It was really bad.

      Now, I know why.

    • I was never keen on the taste of the Pacific Ale myself.
I was a fan of the Green Coast ale. Has the tasted of that changed at all do you know?

  • Thanks OP, great beer and decent price.

16 bottles does not make a case

    • +1

These are cans, and what would you expect to call the cardboard enclosure if not a case or carton? Cause we aren't allowed to call it a slab either.

      • Half a block.

      • +6

In my home town, we call it a carton - or a block.

        A carton encases 24 bottles/cans; a block encase 30 cans only.

Each is evenly divisable by a number of 6 packs.

Neither presents the consumer with 16 beverages, or two and two thirds of a six pack.

It is nonsensical, and I refuse to participate.

      • Why can't you call it a slab?

        • -1

Cause "A slab is ONLY 24 never anything else!" crowd, and then they also say it isn't a case or a carton. You cannot please anyone these days.

          • +6

            @winesellersdirect: I think universally a slab /case is 24 drinks. A block 30.

Why not just call them a 16 pack and then there's no debate.

            • -4

@timthetoolman: Cause we get this -> "16 bottles does not make a case" even when we call it a carton, or whatever. Its really irrelevant, the quantity is listed.

              • +5

@winesellersdirect: Wouldn't worry about it bro. Doesn't matter what you call it, pleaiple will complain. As long as you tell everyone how many ml per item and how many items, you are doing all you need to do. People complain about the stupidest shit. Take some goddamn responsibility when you purchase a product and be sure you know what you're getting before you check out. We are all adults here.

                • +1

                  @seamonkey: Here here!

                • -1

@seamonkey: vendors should give the pleaiple what they want!

                  • +2

@QuickToThePointless: vendors can't always know what people want (appreciate the troll on the massive typo lol no idea how I did that 🤣😂 think I was distracted mid sentence). There's always some Karen though that expects something different. The volume of a unit, how many units you get. Nobody needs anything more than that. The pleaiple have spoken 😂

                    • @seamonkey: personally, i think the pleaiple collectively are outraged at the systematic downsizing of everything.

i also think the pleaiple have become wary and resentful of being mislead - even tricked - into purchasing once trusted products that are now reduced by weight, volume or numbers within the packaging at the once regular price.

for generations a carton/case/slab was 24 bottles or cans, in either 330ml or 345ml beverage containers depending on country of origin.

ask yourself why dont alcoholic beverage purveyors rebrand this reduced package content as a 'mini-slab' or micro-case' or 'tiny-carton', especially when it is presented alongside a traditional 24 beverage offering in the same product line as another purchase option ?

      • +1

        Funny they don't call 30 packs a case/carton.

        • +1

No, cause they come in the shape of a block.

          • -1

            @winesellersdirect: Your replies are infantile.

            • +1

@Ashy Larry: The argument about whether it constitutes the naming of a case or not is infantile… But every single time it comes up.

    • +2

      New name suggestion… a Drinker's Dozen?

  • 16 deals left.

  • Used to be the best beer, now I wouldn't drink it
