Will anyone from China see me nudie when I put out my trash?

    • +5

      They’re not interested.

What if they're part of the Guiness world records team to find the world's smallest peepee?

  • Are these on par/comparable with Reolink stuff or? Mainly concerned about image quality/resolution as well as connectivity via app/features.

    • +1

I found the automatons lacking in these cameras when compared to what Reolink battery cams are able to do. For instance, we can't set a schedule to enable/disable motion tracking so it doesn't burn through battery during day time.

      • I have been looking into a Reolink camera, do you know of any good retailers (or installers)?

        • AliExpress, preferably during their major sales, the next of which kicks off in just over a week.

No additional GST, delivered almost immediately from their Sydney warehouse, can stack with coupon and coins discounts.

ok I've been using Tapo camera for like 2 years now and they're still going strong. I've only recharged the battery once for each camera
since it only enables when it gets dark (after sunset, automatically), turns off camera when sun rises.

  • How are these compared to Google nest cams ?

  • So if no hub, and you choose not to pay for cloud storage, and there was an attempted break in, would you have to go to each camera, remove the SD card and transfer the videos to your computer?

    • I would be either purchasing the hub separate or simply paying for cloud.

    • +2

i believe theres a function in app that you can download the video directly to your phone

    • Just thinking of these too.
is a seperate hub seperate from camera safer in a way. They could take the camera off easily and also the SD card.
So im researching about the magnetic ones TAPO made-doesn't really make sense that anyone can just take the camera (with build in sd card) off by hand-not very secure right?

      • I'm thinking about same thing. Let say the incident happened when you don't have mobile data or wifi. And by the time you got data connection. You tried to view your camera, and didn't know your camera was stolen in the meantime… Not safe I believe.

        • for those happy to pay for subscription or pay for the new wireless hub they're just released, this shouldn't be an issue

        • Previously you could either record to the cloud or local sd card in the camera only but they have updated the firmware now to allow you to record to the sd card in a hub which is what I do now. I have all my cameras recording to the hub in my house instead of the sd cards in the cameras.

      • +1

Better than nothing, I'd much rather have a camera than not. Especially for something like renting those would be great.

  • When you google Tapo C410 review, you'll find this comment:
"No Direct SD Card Deletion: Deleting videos from the SD card through the app is not currently supported. "

  • Besides Micro SD card and cloud storage service, can we store the footage on some things like hub or network storage devices? I don't want to do too much hack to make it work.

    • +3

There is a very new to the market, not yet in aus tapo smart hub H500.

"Expandable Local Storage, No Monthly Fees: Delivers massive, secure, and free local storage with a built-in 16GB eMMC, expandable up to 16TB via an HDD/SDD drive."

I believe it is being sold in the eu for around €130

I will buy this when it's available in aus.

    • Yes you can store it to and sd card, cloud or hub now.

  • I got the Tapo C420s4. The set got a hub. I wonder if C410 can be used together with the hub.

    • how do you find it? question with the hub-can you connect your router wirelessly instead of the ethernet cable? thinking the c420s2

  • I picked these up from Bunnings who have been actively and continuously price matching camera prices for at least the last few weeks.

Thanks for the tip off on the hubs - I’ll look out for it when the SD cards start to inevitably die.
