nbn 100/20 $65 for 12 Months + Stay until 1 Sep for $100 Bill Credit (+ 50% TopCashback AU Cashback 1st Month) @ Southern Phone

2221

²Bill Credit Offer: For new connections (including moving house) only. Get a one-off $50 (GST incl.) credit when you sign up to nbn Basic, nbn Standard, nbn Fixed Wireless or nbn Fixed Wireless Plus plans or $100 (GST incl.) credit when you sign up to nbn Superfast, nbn Ultrafast, nbn Fixed Wireless Fast and nbn Fixed Wireless Superfast plan and stay on the chosen plan until 1 September 2025.

The credit will be applied on the first bill after 1 September 2025. The credit amount reduces the price of the monthly plan fee on the bill and is not transferrable or refundable. Offer ends on 30 June 2025.

It's a pretty long title, but there is more….you also get a free modem ( TP-Link VX230v Modem/Router ) if you stay with them for 12 months

I know Southern Phone as some horrible reviews and not popular, but NBN seems to be a game of what works for 1 household may not work for another…so if SouthernPhone has worked for you in the past, this seems like a great deal

So the math is (5 month minimum to get and use the $100 bill credit)
      $65 x 5 = 325
      less 50% of 65 32.5
      less $100 credit = $192.50 for 5 months (38.50/mo)

      • -1

Since this runs till end of month, if you sign up just before July, it would be effectively 4 months:

        $65 x 4 = $260

        $260 - $32.50 - $100 = $127.50 for 4 months ($31.88 / month)

        • Stay until 1 Sep for $100 Bill Credit

If signing up today and leave on 4 Sep, then 3 months only?

      • +3

You shouldn't be deducting the bill credit as a discount.
It requires you to stay with SP for another 2 months so that you can actually spend the credit with them.

        $65 x 5 = 325 for first 5 months
        LESS $32.50 cashback

        6th month free [100 - 65 = $35 remaining]
        7th month you pay $30
8…12 back to $65 per month

        TOTAL over 12 months = 65 x 10 + 30 - 32.5(*) = $647.50

        SAVINGS = 12 x 65 - 647.50 = $132.50

(*) Assuming cashback tracks and is paid out by TCB.

        • -1

your maths is way off. minimum is 2 or 3 months plus 2 to use it, not 5+2. if you select on or after 2 July you might even get the credit on your 3rd bill which I assume is after 1 Sept.

      • After Sep 1st can you switch down to the $45 month plan and still get the $100 credit?

    • does being an AGL NBN customer count as being a Southern Phone NBN customer?

      • Doubt that they wouldn't share database between agl and sp even though agl using sp infra. So i think it's all good, otherwise using other household detail to register if you're afraid so

Worst internet I have ever had, I could no longer play games online due to latency and constant service issues.

So while the price in temping I would recommend going with someone like Tangerine as the price is similar for 6 month and the service is night and day.

    • I'm with More Telco, expiring this month, and always have 150 or more ping when testing on the Xbox via Microsoft servers. But on the PC it's more like 20.

Any suggestions for a Telco with better connections to Microsoft servers? I hear some might have an agreement with them that allows much faster connections

        Neptune
        Leaptel
        Launtel

      • Wonder how it all works I’m with more and xb pings often in Single digits but I’ve had a number of dropouts and there support is not great

    • I found them awful also. Changed to these guys a few months back, had all sorts of issues and their helpdesk was a waste of time. Churned away to Tangerine a few days later and all was good again.

    • +1

You don't go for these nbn providers if gaming or other realtime sensitive latency is your top priority. These nbn are for those heavy users like wfh or media streamers
Go with launtel or other isp using GSL as upstream

Almost worth negging the deal. Internet is such an integral part of life, it’s not worth paying for shit internet

Tangerine can also be super cheap with referral and review credit stacking

      • Tell me more about it please. I am tired of paying for expensive internet with ABB. It is going up again.

  • +4

Everyone sledges them but I have had 3 months now if 1000/50. I regularly speed test getting 930/45 even in evenings, I never have it drop and when I first started I was getting 600 and their support team helped me diagnose it was my routers QoS bottlenecking everything.

For all the hate I couldn't say a bad thing from my experience

    • +1

I think agl nbn is also provided by them and I’ve had no complaints fortunately

      • Yep, at least 2 years ago, AGL nbn was these guys. Don't know if that has changed since

  • +2

🤔 Worth churning from Superloop to these guys? (FTTC Sydney)

    • -1

you need to give 30 days notice or they bill you an extra month

      • Yeah, more thinking about connecting quality and stuff.
Had so frequent dropouts with More it was infuriating… I'm still burned.

      • Pretty sure they cannot charge you for service they cannot provide

  • I have strange problems with Superloop, router tries to renew IP every 5 mins, disrupting the zoom session in the process

    • Static IP could be the solution.

    • Have you opted out of CGNat? if not try that

  • 50% Cashback sounds good. How does it work? Is it 50% each month?

    • +2

Advertised cashback is based on the percentage of one month's payment for plans only, and is a one-off reward paid on each verified Southern Phone sale.

    • Just one month’s payment of plan.

    • I think it's 50% of one month’s payment.

  • +3

Aren't these the same people that run the NBN plans for AGL? If yes- they were pretty good for me when through AGL.

  • +2

So tempted, but I still have 6 months of 25/10 for $47.90 with Flip after I went to cancel a few months ago and they offered a deal. Four times the speed for approximately $10 extra a month is enticing, but I don't really need the extra speed. Hopefully a similar deal is available in January.

BTW, you can choose an eero 6+ instead of the TP-Link if you want. It likely has better resell value.

    • Oh, that was based off staying with them for 12 months. If I forgo the modem and only stay with them for 5-6 months, it works out cheaper as per this comment

  • Southern Phone custom service is hopeless. I won't go back to them even if it is free. I have no internet for the Christmas break. What they did is keep asking me to reset my router.

    • I had the same exact experience at Christmas.

      • Sorry to hear. Which postcodes or areas in Perth had no internet connection? I'm in Perth too and this seems to be a great deal. Thanks.

Been with SP for 6 months 100mbps I get 110 mbs consistently I have had 2 dropouts but there was guys working on the com box's each time I had the issue & it was back on in 3 minutes .

        • Whats your Ping like in games?

  • Should I go for this guys coming from Superloop? Otherwise, I won't take chances as I play online games most of the time. Then I would go to AussieBB…

    • Same as me, with superloop 1000/50 but happy to change if it's about the same quality.

  • Very good offer. Anyone from south-east Melbourne use them before and any comments?

    • +1

I am with them since February 2025, Ultrafast speed $85/month for 12 month. Had some issues at the start, apparently they were upgrading their equipment, since then all good. Speed test average 920/45.

    • +4

Signed up as part of this deal, been connected for a day or so and no speed issues so far. On the 100/20 plan and getting 108/17.87 with a ping average of 6 located in Melbourne (South east).

      • I just signed up today btother. Thank you for sharing and caring 😊 ☺️

        • Can confirm speed at 108/18 at 7pm at South east Melbourne. Provider swapped straight away on the same day(signed up around midday). Both Eero are on their way.(fingers across)

Really good offer, my 3 years of free internet with More from that CBA Home loan deal is expiring soon. Just in time!

    • 3 years free? You did get a really good deal.

      No More deals for you.

  • Anyone knows if can pick a date to churn over to SouthernPhone NBN?

    • +1

      Yes, within the next month

      • thanks..

        free modem TP-Link VX230v or eero 6+?

        • We can select both, free if staying 12 months with them.

          • @shaq1: Really both free?

The only issue is that if their NBN service is poor and you need to switch providers before 12 months, you'll have to pay the remaining balance for both modems.

            • @ShadowSaver: Yes both free and you are also right if we need to cancel before the 12 months, we pay the cancellation fee for both modems. It is mentioned when we add the products to the cart.

              • @shaq1: @ShadowSaver, i just checked, it's One or the other, not both.

                • +1

                  @shaq1: Yeah, that’s what I thought initially

                  • +2

@ShadowSaver: @ShadowSaver update: I have received the delivery and got both TP-Link VX230v as well as eero 6+.

                    • +1

@shaq1: So you will have to pay out for both of those modems if you leave SP before the end of 12 months? Can you report back on the quality of the internet service!!

                    • @shaq1: i'm about to sign up but when I get to "yes I need a modem" there's only the eero option to choose from. Does the TP link come regardless?

                    • @shaq1: How's your NBN service with Southern performing?

      • Hmmm. When submitting a churn, it asks for my authorisation date which can be in the past, but not the future?? It then asks for a connection date, which can be in the future. However, the confirmation pages lists my connection date as today, not the future date I selected.

        • Are you connecting today, then?

        • Had the same issue. Went through chat who had to manually change my connection date after purchasing. Chat was quick and helpful but seems like a pretty basic thing to mess up

          • @Pedrowashere: Thanks. I've also reached out to chat now and they've updated the activation date. I'm not sure if it was or wasn't set incorrectly on their end before though; I didn't ask.

            • @puffinfresh: Did you guys receive a confirmation email after submitting the order?

              • @ShadowSaver: Yeah after about 15 min I got one for order received then about an hour later to say order has progressed. I ordered a router too so also got an email from AusPost about delivery initiated.

                • +1

@rarelyscene: Got an email but only order summary which doesnt tell me the connection date.

        • Having this same issue. Was your connection date the future date?

    • but the date of transfer can't be changed, you can delay the date your service to be connected

  • +2

    Owned by AGL.

Had a problem with Zscaler speed of uploads (Melbourne) had to escalate up to someone at AGL to look into.

CGNAT but free to opt out and you can do it via chat.

Think POI is Sydney so the problem if you are not in Sydney is latency.

    • -1

Can opt out of CGNAT during signup?

Hows the speed from Melb? Drop out often?

      • Cannot opt out during sign up.

Speed is pretty good. I came from Tangerine / Mates. You wouldn't notice any issues with standard speed test. How I found out the Zscaler issue is the Cloudflare speed test which looks at packet loss and also ZScaler tools. I am not even IT and I know more than IT support at Southernphone and the large top 10 Australian company IT.

Not much in terms of drop outs. I'd say looking at the traceroutes the problem is more to do with everything going through Sydney. AGL has a big base in Melbourne and a register office in Sydney (because the big wigs like the floor overlooking Sydney Harbour)

        • would signing up on their 1000mbit plan help with these issues for day to day internet or problem will be seen just as much as on 1000mbit as 100mbit?
I dont know what zscaler is currently but can google it, would this zscaler problem represent a problem for all uploads?
You talk about bad latency , I"m in Brisbane, if not playing games (don't play games) would I notice latency?

          • @bobvegas: ZScaler is corporate VPN for work from home.

I suspect you would be okay unless you game or have specific VPN requirements (like ZScaler) my Windscribe performs okay.

            • @netjock: That sounds like they're doing Bandwidth shaping/Packet priority, so certain types of internet traffic will be de prioritised. That could be bad for VPN's and P2P type stuff, like torrents. I've also seen that be bad for Live streams, such as Twitch etc. That's a memory of the bad old days, I had thought Internet providers had given up on that, but I guess a budget provider may still do that to keep high speeds for regular internet traffic .

    • I didn't realise they were owned by AGL. That makes me less likely to move to them. I was with AGL for my mobile and they were a pain to deal with. They didn't seem to have any processes in place for something as simple as updating credit card details. Chat said to use the app, the app said it couldn't handle it for telecommunication services, etc.

      • AGL mobile is routed through Southernphone too I guess.

The Southernphone website looks like it has features not yet updated (and features it should have that isn't there).

  • Good deal. Please continue to offer this deal.

    • +1

      Ok

    • Username doesn't check out. 🤔🤨😅

      • +1

It’s some light hearted Aussie sarcasm bro iykyk

        • LOL, I know. 😜

  • Worth considering, currently on Superloop $69.95/month for 6 months. And I think I'm in the 5th month.
Anyone have any experience in WA FTTP?

    • Also would like to know. Latency will be high for sure but I don’t game so no issue.

    • +3

people are saying it's POP is in Sydney and so I guess they're also saying there are no other POPS, so terrible for WA, not fit for purpose.

      • Thanks for confirming POP is only on Sydney.
Best performers I've had in WA have been Superloop and 'more NBN'. Leaptel was garbage with a Sydney POP, so that rules out these guys for me.

Looking for a better deal than Superloop now (6 month discount ran out).

        • This is interesting to read. I'm in Perth and have only used three ISPs in the NBN era - Internode (carryover from ADSL era), Aussie Broadband, and currently More NBN on a juicy promo for almost 3 years.

Aussie Broadband was a 9.5/10 experience, but was pricey. Interesting to hear your assessment about More NBN who I'm currently with. What about other well-regarded ISPs (on OzB) such as Launtel and Tangerine?

PS: I'm giving this deal a miss. Internet dropouts and problems give me stress.

          • @Charlie Dont Surf: I was going to sign up too, but the dropouts and problems (that I’ve heard about) aren’t worth it for me.

          • +1

@Charlie Dont Surf: My switch from more NBN to Superloop was price-based (including mobile services), when the comparison offer was better, plus I was moving banking away from CBA. I'd still recommend it to CBA customers in Perth.

I actually haven't tried Launtel or Tangerine because I have been concerned how poor the latency and performance was with Leaptel and I don't want to put the family through that again without needing to.
Plus, I did the "flip to fibre" free speed upgrade with Superloop, from 50/20 to 100/20 and they seem to have forgotten to turn it off after 3 months, so… 🤫
