@coogleair: Isn't a separate circuit required for even 2.5kw aircons? I thought the rules have changed

            • @Deal finder: Hi,thank you for your inquiry. According to the AS/NZS 3000 (Australian/New Zealand Wiring Rules), any high-powered appliance — such as air conditioners, water heaters, or ovens — must be assessed by a licensed electrician to determine whether a dedicated circuit is required, especially if there's a risk of overloading the existing circuit.

In Western Power (WA) guidelines, there is no specific power threshold that mandates a dedicated circuit.
However, the installation must be carried out by a licensed electrician, who will evaluate the existing electrical setup.

If the existing circuit is already heavily loaded, the power outlet is outdated, or the wiring is not up to standard, the electrician is obligated to recommend or require a dedicated circuit to ensure safety and compliance.

For a 2.5kW unit, in most cases, a dedicated circuit is not required if the existing GPO is in good condition and the circuit isn't overloaded — but the final decision is always made by the attending electrician during installation.

          • @coogleair: dropped you email

Thanks a lot! We're thrilled you're happy with the service and value. 😊

  • I'm interested in a 2kw unit for my spare bedroom.
But I've also got 2 older split systems that would need a service too. Unfortunately I won't know the model or size of the units until tomorrow when my housemate gets back to me. Would you be able to give a rough range of what your costs are for servicing units? (assuming no problems are found/ additional works are required)

    Kind regards.

Hi Thank you for your inquiry. The regular service of aircon is $179/each. If you do 2 units together, then we can offer $164/each. The price are incluing GST.

  • I've been hearing a lot about Rinnai systems taking over Australia. Any thoughts on that over the Mitsubishi? Japanese brand from memory.

    • Hi thank you for your inquiry. You're right — Rinnai is a well-known Japanese brand, and they've been expanding their presence in Australia, especially in recent years with competitively priced systems.

That said, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) is still considered one of the top-tier brands in terms of performance, reliability, and quiet operation. It's especially well-regarded for its durability in harsh Australian climates, and many models come with advanced features and long warranties.

Ultimately, both brands have their strengths — we’re happy to provide advice based on your specific needs or budget if you'd like to compare options!

  • question regarding installing split systems. im considering one to be installed at a room towards the rear of my home, switchboard is unfortunately all the way at the front. I've had mixed feedback from installers, most quotes have been huge because of the distance but I also heard from one that Mitsubishi Heavy Industry aircons can get around that as it allows for a more direct connection to existing wires (sorry don't know the technical terminology). Are you able to give any comments on that?

  • Thanks for your question — that’s a very common concern when the switchboard is located far from the room where the air conditioner will be installed.

While Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) is a very high-quality brand, there's no brand-specific workaround that bypasses electrical regulations. All split system air conditioners must meet AS/NZS electrical standards, and whether a dedicated circuit is required depends on factors like unit size, circuit load, and existing wiring — not brand.

If the distance from the switchboard is significant, it can increase installation cost, especially if a new circuit needs to be run. However, a qualified installer will assess whether:

The existing power outlet (GPO) in the room is suitable

The circuit can safely handle the load

A new circuit is necessary for safety and compliance

    For your reference:
➡️ Units under 5kW may be able to use an existing local power circuit, depending on the condition and load.
➡️ Units 5kW and above generally require a dedicated circuit for safety and compliance.

We’re happy to take a look at your setup and provide a clear quote or second opinion — feel free to send us some photos of the room, power outlet, and switchboard if you’d like!
