Copying my comment from a previous deal. I ended up buying another one off eBay a few months later and that unit has seemed totally fine so it's perhaps a QC issue with this model:
Have had ongoing issues with one of these repeatedly burning through the advertised 1 year battery life in a matter of weeks. Garmin is impossible to get hold of and their website support directs you to phone or email - with no email listed. I've waited on the phone unsuccessfuly with them for ages, but a quick search seems to indicate they don't have much of a repair presence in Australia anyway and you'd be paying out of pocket for return postage. Luckily Amazon refunded me when I contacted them.
Be sure to keep your receipt handy!
