15OFFZX522

TL;DR: promo code: 15OFFZX522 = 35% off
tried it on Hub 3 and their Lock Ultra, I placed my order (Invoice: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/300048/122018/switchbo…)

Hub3

As I continue to expand my smart home deployment, one of the main pieces to receive the smart home glow-up is the main entrance door.
It has not been an easy road as I have a mortise lock with a local twist of Oz to it (i.e. quarter-turn snib inside + non detachable). Even the much-hyped retrofit king Aqara U200 was declared incompatible by Aqara's technical/engineering team. So, my realistic option is to look at other non-intrusive, non-destructive retro-fit options.

Gotta say SwitchBot's OG Smart Lock was proper backyard school-hack (and therefore of course it works!)
But it is not easy to find new stock because SwitchBot has been pushing its Smark Lock Pro for the past 2-3 years.

Plus, a new Smart Lock Ultra was just released at the end of May.
The highlight of this Lock Ultra is the triple battery fallback and the Vision keypad that scans your face to unlock.
This lock uses its USB-C rechargeable battery back, with a CR123A battery as back-up, and a super-capacitor as a back-up of its CR123A back-up

Then SwitchBot also released their Hub 3 a few days later touting its Matter control hub capability.
Along with the release, they were handing out a special offer code: 15OFFZX522 for 35% off.

I hope SwitchBot is not watching this: because the code seems to have no SKU restriction, <~ Edit: seems like the code is not working on all SKUs anymore
the promo code seems to be working on at least the hubs and locks + accessories section that I have been playing with.

So while SwitchBot is having a summer sale (as they are in the Northern hemisphere) with a 20% off by default, the hack here is to use the code to order the new Lock Ultra (which won't realistically be on sale till Black Friday/Cyber Monday the earliest !?) with all its many flavours of bundles to milk the savings.

The code puts the SwitchBot locks around 40% cheaper comparing with the Aqara U200 with a MRSP of $499.99 with various accessories

Black colour is ready to ship;
Silver colour expected to ship mid-June (!)

  • Code doesn't seem to work on Meter Pro CO2.

    • hey mate, I saw your comment and went back to their site to test this

seems like their summer sale 15EGU is overriding 15OFFZX522
I even created a trolley and tried checking out, the summer sale discount seems to have higher priority
      sorry about that :/

changed the subject to what I knew the code definitely works,

disclaimer: I placed an order for myself , with the 35% off discount (Invoice: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/300048/122018/switchbo…)

    • for the effort .
  • Code doesn’t work on temperature sensors either unfortunately

Their older door lock is not very unreliable: once in a while it forgets to auto-lock after you.

Thank you for this tip, I will definitely test this thoroughly. The thought of the door remains unlocked is frightening to me :S

keen to get my hands on the Lock Ultra and test this myself

I have HomeKit + Matter at my place, what I observe is the iPhone's GPS drift is causing all sorts of chaos with location-based automoation
everytime I charge my iPhone , the GPS seems to be extra motivated to drift and reorient itself, this caused my leave & arrival automation to be errerneously triggered
as you can imagine, my lights went on and off, off and on,, and on and off…. I had to disabled these automations :/

      • Once in a while, the app says the door is locked, but in fact it is unlocked. But again, it was true for the older device.

  • Code doesn't work for the Blind Tilt either.

question is - what does the code actually work on (if anything?)

    • I used the code to place an order for myself,
so far, the SKUs that work are:
      the smart locks Ultra; and
the Hub 3 <~ this is what the code is supposed to promote
      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/300048/122018/switchbo…

I tried different combos too as I discovered ordering the bundle is cheaper than picking the components individually
context: I am not able to deply the keypads or vision pads but I have full Matter coverage, so I was trying to get the lock, without the pads but somehow still score the hubs for Matter-support. <~ it's crazy & confusing, I know

      sorry about that :/

Candy House Sesame is much better brand and they just update new sensor like face ID on your phone.

    • I am using Candy house Sesame! best investment and it has a very reasonable price point!

    • Thank you! I love you!
I never know about this brand. Thank you and bookmarked !
      arigatou ~!

  • I got the "SwitchBot Lock Pro" and attached it to my apartment door. No regrets, works flawlessly. I got it with the hub and fingerprint combo.

i'm only said that the ultra came out 5months after i purchased the pro.

  • Anyone know what the difference is between EU, UK and US style is for the lock Ultra?
And which one we should get in Australia?

  • I have one of the early Switchbot locks and quite like it for my apartment door. Only issue is lately the people doing the annual fire inspection have tried to claim that this is non-compliant.

I explained to them that this doesn't change anything on the door and that it's just a robot that turns the lock for you but this guy is being a huge pain. Anyone have any suggestions or building codes that I can refer to to get them off my ass? Strata is now taking the stance that anything installed on the front door requires approval.

Hey mate, sorry to hear what happened to you.
If you have one of the early SwichBot Lock, I am guessing yours will look like a L-shape or F-shape that covers the door lock ? If that's the case, a quick resolution maybe just peel the lock off , and replace the 3M adhesive after they are done with their inspection. Yes it's wasteful for the adhesive, but (hopefully) it just ends their discussion right there

The building codes should be specific to your building, OC rules or whatever residents rule book that you have there.
In general, the OC can set the rules on the main entrace door esp. if it forms (and your OC will use this easy excuse) the building's fire management system. This gives them the higher ground on safety grounds. However, whatever is behind the door is your private property. Did you building managment team test with their master key? As long as their master key works, they should not be have a say on what you do behind the door. For example, if I stick a movie poster at the back of my door, it is none of their business.
This should be your get out of jail for free defense.

Did you remove the backend of your door lock and replace it with your SwitchBot lock? (i.e. the Lock Pro ? and Aqara U200 retrofit install?)
You may need to get them to spell out exactly what is 'non-compliant' on that front

Good luck and all the best.
