Oh, the pain of having to open a door and get a water jug out… Seriously, how do we function as a society any more?

Buy a normal fridge and a Brita water filter jug on special and pocket the change.

    • CoL crisis

OP might save 1 minute filling up the jug and 10 seconds per glass of water (opening the door, picking up the jug, and then putting back the jug and closing the door).
If OP uses 1 jug of water a day then in a year they will save 7 hours.
If OP dedicates those 7 hours towards earning more money, then at $40/hour (median wage) they will up $280.
Assuming the fridge costs $2000 (although OP wants to do better than that — good onya OP) then they will achieve break even in 7 years. Which leaves around 3 years of ACL coverage for the fridge.
So really OP will be getting a free fridge for around 3 years.
Even in a CoL crisis, this makes cents.

Too hard. So too is doing a simple Google search by the looks of it.

Where is the water supposed to come from if it's not plumbed? You want it extracted from the air?

We have a Samsung one, there is a 5L water tank in the fridge that takes up half a shelf.

    • have a hot and humid room, with a big ass steel tray which is artificially made cold which plumbs into a tank….thats how you get water

      its called science

It's the ice maker that's the big timesaver.

I don't particularly like non-plumbed models since you're losing space for the ice maker and the water tank but here you go: https://www.lg.com/au/fridge-freezers/side-by-side/gs-n599pl…

Get a stand-alone unit like this. You could put in the garage and put ice cubes into the freezer as required for easy access.

    • Looks like a good idea.

  • You need or you want? No one needs a fridge with a tap (or a tv, or a see through pane, or a connection to the internet).

  • Other than price point, do you have a space that the fridge needs to fit into?
