the name made me click. "Double Hurricane" watch.

not the best name but I guess better than the random chinese names like Fikwot. 😂

I think I'll have to stop buying watches for a long while as I bought a couple that's a little too pricy. But thinking about some good cheaper watches to fill my collection. Would love for citizen to have a zenshin eco drive for under $500.

Hopefully the watch god will show me this in a few months.

    • These are cheap, better off not buying those $500 ones, they haven't done well from the start. Can't go wrong with Seikos like this

      • Nah not after cheap autos. Aiming for an eco drive.
Wanted series 8 citizen but I'm actually out of space on my winder, hence resorting to eco drives only

        • Yeah there are many ways to attack it, the more you get into collecting you eventually realise solar/quartz and Haq is better, particularly when you have a decent amount of watches on rotation. It's nice to be able to grab one and go without having to set the time every time.

I wouldn't bother with winders but they are a posh accessory I guess. Only useful if you have 2-4 autos you constantly rotate. They don't affect the life of the movement as the oils dry out just the same whether the are moving or not. You'll still need to adjust the time and date unless they are perpetual and very high accuracy chronometers. Doesn't take much longer to set the time. These days I try and buy no date autos.

Yeah I don't mind the series 8 but they are just citizen's answer to the 6R35, bit of a futuristic design but are over priced and haven't been selling well. At least with these cheap but fun Seikos you won't lose much money at all and can easily flip them if you get sick of them.

          • @G-rig: Nah my high end autos are the only autos I'll keep
I already have 9 watches occupying the winder spots but have 4 non winder slots. 2 are occupied. I'm just saving them for 2 more.
I'm contemplating getting rid of my Seiko 6r sumo for another auto. Might still contemplate series 8, but I think I might end up with a Tudor black bay.

@maverickjohn: Yeah point having too many autos, after a while quality over quantity makes sense. It's always an option to sell or trade and you won't be stuck with them (and the servicing costs) when your tastes and priorities change.

I'm not buying any more autos unless some go (but prefer quartz now overall). I don't see the point of having and maintaining too many Swiss autos (maybe 1-3 etc), movements like the NH35 are cheap enough to service or replace.

That's a lot of winders, adds to the overall cost as well. Most autos don't keep impeccable time anyway but fun to show people :P.

              Good call, I wouldn't mind a Pelagos 39 or BB58.

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I'm not rich enough either.. just make sacrifices..
My new watch I got is worth more than 2x the BB
But it my personal Grail outside of owning a VC
