I have a few of these and they are fantastic.

    • Can the wires be hidden behind?

  • Can we use this indoor? Like at the shop counter?

    • Yes, you could.

      • Cheers mate 👍

        • +1

Beware, they are a very large camera, and they make a little noise when in motion. Great as a deterrent, but not exactly discrete…

          • +1

@UncleRico: Cheers mate, I’ve went with the Reolink RLC-811WA instead 😀

            • @Alexender Chase: Cool. I trust you needed the zoom functionality?

              Hope they serve you well.

              With consent.

              Always, with consent…

              • @UncleRico: Yes definitely, gotta monitor staff at the till and customer with sticky fingers 😅😅.

          • @UncleRico: You would have to be standing very close to where they are mounted to hear the stepper motor noises.

I only hear the motor turn sounds when viewing the stream.

Are you mounting them lower than 2.5M?

            • @DoctorCalculon: Yeah mine’s about 2.5m.

Not an issue when mounted outdoors, just thought it may be considered intrusive as per the posters indoor use case.

I bought one a few weeks ago from the last Ozb deal for like 6 bucks more, damn it! I could have got a happy meal.

    • +1

      Clearly not "happy".

      • +15

I'm a celiac diabetic, all my meals are Unhappy Meals.

    • +2

      Not happy Jan!

  • What does power over ethernet - no wifi option?

  • Is this one good at capturing rego plate at night? Thabk you.

    • +2

As long as the zoomed in camera lense gets it or they are close enough to the main camera, yes it can but all depends on other lighting conditions etc. Many variables, but yes it can capture registrations.

Here is a zoomed out view during the day, you can see the rego.

      • Thank you bro.

      • +4

That screenshot isn't really filling me with a lot of confidence

The police car I think I can make it out - 1UA1TN
The car Infront in front no chance I can see it

        • +3

This is the zoomed out view. Zoomed in view would be a lot clearer and you would be able to make it out. I don't have anything of the zoomed in view at this time. Its just an example.

        • +2

At night it’s a lot harder, depends on angle of camera and the lighting as the other person said. The night time image quality can be blurrier just to the IR range not being as good or could get blurry. If you want specifically licence plates a camera pointed at where licences plates are in a fixed position is more likely to capture them better than a PTZ which might not be set/focused/centred on where licence plates are in the frame. I’m not sure if the newer colorx cams are better at nighttime licence plates. Checkout the hook up on YouTube, he does really good camera reviews.

      • +4

Even with good lighting, you will find that the plates reflect the light back, and you end up with a big chunk of white blur, i.e. completely useless.
I have had better luck with the CX810.

        • +1

          ^^^ 100%. What this guy said… ^^^

        • Agreed, I had a car about 8-10m from the camera the other night and didn't pick up the plate. It's a good general utility camera for a corner block or somewhere that needs wide coverage, but at night it's useless when it matter. Better to look at CX810 (I own) or CX410, these will at bare minimum give you colour and vehicle type but not always plates at a distance

    • +1

No, it will not get a rego at night.

  • I have a RL-822(POE) and want to replace it with Trackmix.

Current dome POE camera is screwed in to the colour bond gutter, how easy it is to replace it with this one? Sorry no so handy with tools.

    Thanks!!

    • +1

Unscrew old Camera > Remove and unplug > Put up new camera with new screws and then plug back in.

Sorry no so handy with tools.

Not handy with a screwdriver or a drill?

      • Thanks so much, well that is super easy and yes can do that. I was more concerned if I'll damage the gutter.

        • +1

Unlikely if its all screwed in.

        • +9

The damage is done already, it shouldn't be attached the the guttering.

  • Have they fixed car tracking yet? Returned 3 of these due to not detecting vehicles.

    • Did you run on its own or with an NVR?

      • I have it connected to an NVR

        • Okay, just checking. I haven't configured it on mine. I just checked mine and it tracked fine.

    • There is a common problem with these being able to switch from vehicle tracking to person tracking. For instance, I had a vehicle pull up in my driveway the other night and it tracked it fine to the driveway and locked on, but it didn't switch to person tracking when the guy got out and walked to my neighbors. Same happens with courier drivers.

Got it for $172.89 using ggr5fau code.

    • +1

Wow nice! I've cancelled my order and stacked this code and got it at the lower price instead.

    • Nice work.

And don't forget to order via the two pack if you need multiples. Get's the price down to $170.52 per unit.

      • I tried that but it wouldn't accept the code for the pack of 2, only the single units… I ended up just placing 2 separate orders instead @ $172 ea

        • +1

How peculiar - just worked fine for me.

No matter - it's not sheep stations. You'll just have to forfeit one cappuccino this week…

  • Does it come with POE injector?

    • No.

      • +1

Assuming you've got or may one day want, more than one input, look up OzBargain or AliExpress for the Keeplink 10 port POE switch.

It's a basic unmanaged switch with a decent POE switch and can often be had for under $40 after coupons / coins. Plenty of folk are using them with Reolink cams in lieu of individual injectors.

        https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005007476774523.html?

        • +1

I use a TP link POE switched which you can get off Amazon for under $40 too on special. That’s my often go to when needing POE.

          • @geekcohen: 5 port or 8 port?

I've got a couple of those as well, and from memory the power budget on the 5 port is oddly higher than the 8 port. I've used them in installations where I want to cable to/from a couple different points and they've never given me any issues either. However, the mid-60w budget is borderline if you end up populating the 8 port with cams. Some of the floodlight and dual lens cams are well over 10w on their own.

Either way, a more versatile option than an injector, esp since virtually everyone ends up adding more cams and devices over time…

            • @UncleRico: Either, depends on the install. Most of the type its a couple of cameras and maybe an AP in a shed.

  • Anyone running these with an Hikvision NVR?

  • +2

Thanks OP, bought one. Also pairs nicely with the RLN36 DVR which is finally back in stock and has a 20% off with code on eBay bringing it to $231.99. Note this is the 36 channel DVR that doesn’t come with a hard-drive (so allow extra $) but allows a lot of expansion as the Reolink ecosystem can be addictive :)

    • Would RLN36 also be OK for the TrackMix Wifi?

      • +1

Yep, so long as you’ve got a home wifi network which you can connect the camera (via wifi) and RLN36 NVR (via Ethernet) to.

  • +1

ggr5fau works on wifi version, but not the other code. Takes it down to $212, which is about $15 cheaper than amazon.

    • I just bought the PoE version for $172 using both codes stacked.

  • +5

Good price by Reolink retail standards.

But the next AliExpress sales starts on the 16th June, and their major sales normally delivery some great pricing on Reolink.

    /Touches fate-tempting wood/

  • Anyone know hbese go with frigate? Is there multi camera support?

    • Reolinks work ok with frigate, but it struggles with them sometimes.

  • Will this camera works with HIK Vision NVR?

    • +1

It's ONVIF compatible, so technically should.

But as always, mileage may vary - esp with some of the advanced functionality based on capabilities of this particular cam and your NVR. And this cam has a few bells and whistles courtesy of the dual lense and PTZ capabilities. There's plenty of online and reddit posts about Reolink cams and Hikvisionn NVRs, but few that can guarantee full functionality (detection, AI, dual lense tracking).

Be sure to keep us updated…

When adding to cart, it gives you the option for a set of two, which has a separate coupon "cpreodoXokuP6off" which also stacks with "ggr5fau" - fyi.

    • Yep got this too and brings price to $341.04 for the pair.

    • -1

      Coupon cpreodoXokuP6off doesn't work.

      • If you select the twin pack, it will literally give you the additional coupon to copy on their website, it appears to be changing as their count down expires for their "deals".

  • What are the best SD cards for these?

    • +2

      Any endurance rated card.

Or if you’re recording to an NVR and just want to record to micro SD as backup for motion alerts only, anything. I’ve used Patriot 128gb 5 packs from Amazon for $8-$10 per card from Amazon and haven’t lost one yet, but they’ve got a pretty mild duty cycle since the NVR does all the heavy lifting…

  • Anyone used this?
Is this a good price as well?

    https://m.reolink.com/product/reolink-duo-poe/?attribute_pa_…

    • +1

Won’t let me post link, but great cam but ordinary price which is available for $147 after coins and code REOLINK1834 from AliExpress. Search “Reolink + Duo” from their coins page, or better yet, wait till their EOFY sale kicks off on the 16th.

    • +2

It’s not a ‘bad’ price, but you can certainly do better. Best to wait for the next AliExpress sale in June. These have been <$100 before, but that was a pretty wild & short sale

      • Thank you. Will do.

    • I have a few of these and them! I have a few of the Duo V3 too. Highly rate them. Here is an example.

      • +1

        Great to hear! Thank you.

I am keen to check out the AliExpress sales.

  • How do you guys get the Ethernet cable to the camera?

My router and switch will be indoors.
Do you pay a sparky to do it?
I don't know how to get a cable from inside the house to outside.

    • Get a cabler, they are often cheaper than a sparky.

It all depends on the type of house, there are many ways. Providing there is a roof space, its pretty straight forward for someone who knows what they are doing.

  • Price is fluctuating wildly on Ali at the moment. After coins and codes, it’s currently going for under US$98 or AU$150, but could be had last night for AU$120 alongside some similar discounts for other models.

It may pay to keep an eye on Ali and their multiple Reolink PTZ listings to see what you can jag it at…

    • +1

That's not the dual lens trackmix, it's only single lens

      • -1

Thanks for that emphatic, but incorrect statement, champ. Both variants are available via the one listing, the superior Trackmix invariably at a fair premium, still showing at US$113.71 before discounts, $95.58 after.

Looking now at the screengrab, as stated, the dual lens Trackmix was listed at US$98.47, discounted to $79.64 after coins and discount codes.

The lesser single lens derivative, the 830A was listed even cheaper at $80.11, discounted to $61.65.

  • Amazon now has the Wifi version for $209.

    • As UncleRico mentioned, Ali prices fluctuating and currently am seeing the wifi version for $183.
