Well, it's the first time i've ever clicked on a site with a name like that…

    • +9

what about when you bought that stationary from Pen Island ?
      www.penisland.net

      • LOL at some quotes from that site….

        "Your Pen is
        Our Business"

        "We specialise in wood"

and from the FAQ… "Can I supply my own wood?"

Is this a joke site or for real?

        • +1

          its a joke.
apparently if you try to buy a pen it says something about not being able to ship anything off the island because of quarantine and bird flu.

  • Customer support is really bad, the instruction manual is in chinese, freezes all the time! I'm very upset now

    • +2

Hi Lobster, we have English user manual for Fire and regarding the freezes issue, did you contact after sales for further support? The new Jelly Bean firmware Feiyu Android 4.1.1 has been released. You can flash and try. :-)

      • I flashed the new JB Feiyu firmware on my Novo 7 Aurora and feels much more responsive than the pre-installed ICS firmware.

      • customer service seems pretty good!

      • I'm having the hero 10.1 inch! Btw, how can I upgrade to Jelly Bean firmware Feiyu Android 4.1.1?

alcatel is much better than ainol, at least you can return it to harvey if you find any problem but it's wise not to buy non branded table, buy samsung or nexus in my opinion..

    • +1

      coles one better right?
you need 1 gig ram to run smoothly on ICS and above.

    • +5

many people enjoy ainol and are also satisfied with china brand tablet.

      • +1

i got elf 2 and crystal. fabulous
        15% slower than nexus 7
        running cyanogenMod

      • +1

I love my Novo 7 Aurora, the battery life if good, most games smooth, considering it's a single-cre Allwinner cpu at 1Ghz. I usually connect it to my FHD monitor, watch movies and play games :D

Why is it that every time this brand is featured on OzB, it attracts all the children to make their puerile comments?

Grow up kids - please don't subject the adults to your homoerotic/homophobic statements.

        • I think you need some Ainol tablets

        • +2

Heterosexual people can also enjoy Ainol. Don't make such broad assumptions.

      • +2

        many people enjoy ainol

        Hur hur hur.

    • 1280*800 IPS display if it's for Samsung or nexus more than double the price and made in same place.

  • +2

Ainol Fire? They've really got these names worked out.

    • +1

And its official slogan is "Feel the Burn"

      • huh? thought is "feel the bum" enjoy life enjoy ainol

        • yeah, thats the regular ainol quote. 'feel the burn' is just for the ring of fire edition.

  • +1

Resolution good but would be nicer to have a few nches more for ~ +30AUD

    • +4
      • bought one last week, can't wait to receive. this is by far the best chinese tablet from what i've read

        • 2013-01-14 08:26 PM Left country of origin. Your Item is in transit to New Zealand. (New Zealand)

          Same!

    • +2

yeah, i would also pay $30 for a few more inches of ainol

    • Yes, yes the one from buyincoins looks far greater value.

I have estimated what it might take to display one single full Zinio/magazine page in portrait mode, and it's 1680*1200 apparently. (This even gets close to maxing a LED DELL 24 mon)

I suppose I am waiting for something more /retina/ like in my ainols. Maybe 11" eventually.

  • +1

    Sooo many bad jokes lol.

So I wanna give my 8yo kid brother a tablet so he can play some educational games while he's bored instead of watching TV all day. Should I get him an iPad mini or this new Ainol tablet. It's probably just gonna get destroyed within 6 months but what is the android app market like in relation to kids educational games? I know I've heard that apple is pretty good in this regard. Id rather not pay 350 for an iPad but I'm not that familiar with android. Any suggestions

Also, can anyone in the know give us a run down of exactly what the downsides and upsides are to getting this new model of this cheap chinese tablet, or link to an external review?

    Thanks

    • +1

      Give him Ainol.

I have an Ainol Novo7 Elf II - barely use it but if I did, it seems just as smooth as my Galaxy S II.

    • Hi Riczter, search the keyworks "ainol novo 7 fire review" on youtube and you will find more reviews including unboxing, benchmark or even disassembling. :-)

    • +1

Inspire and give him an interest in a new hobby, instead of a new gadget.

It would be a far more healthy activity as there's only a certain time window when kids will grow and play creatively. There's plenty of time to zork out later when he's older.

  • The only thing that gives me pause is that some reviews mention that its difficult to install apps on Google Play, as few developers will vouch that their apps are ainol-compatible.

    see here for instance:-

    http://brockhatfield.com/2012/10/26/ainol-novo-7-flamefire-r…

    can anyone vouch for this?

    • HiPaizuri, the Ainol Novo 7 Fire comes with full access pre installed Google Play. And the new Jelly Bean firmware also helps a lot on Google Play.

I think you may have gotten scammed. The person has only received 2 feedbacks before, both which sound almost exactly the same, and neither talking about actual delivery or the item. He's sold 75 of these at a huge margin loss, considering Windows 7 license itself is upwards of $100, and considering he's 'allegedly' only sold 2 products before, the numbers don't add up. I hope you paid via Paypal.

      • +1

Quite possible, they usually sell for $350+. PayPal is my friend :D its saved me in the past so I feel its worth the risk for $90.

      • +1

        too much hassle for dispute

  • a) Google is your friend for finding opinions and reviews.

    b) Ainolstore is selling the "Ainol Novo 7 Venus Quad Core" for the same price.
It gets quad core CPU and GPU, same resolution screen. AND android 4.1 (jellybean).
It loses bluetooth (from what I see in the specs, it's "bluetooth ready") and has a 2MP rear camera instead of the 5MP. Battery goes from 5000MAh to 4000MAh, but battery life is quoted as around the same.

    c) Unless you have an interest in the iSphere, get him an android tablet.

    d) you can pick up a Toshiba 7" tab at OW for $198 (end of product), if you want local warranty. Apparently it will upgrade to ICS. Includes WiFi, BT & GPS, 1G RAM & 16G storage, dual cameras. The screen isn't too bad either.

I found ICS a significant improvement for my Acer A500.

    • what CPU is Venus?
so far only AMLogic is doing well…… not the fastest but stable.
RKChip is the fastest but got its own issue……

EDIT: CPU ACT-ATM7029 (i would avoid at this stage, unless they release the source code)

  • Been such a long time between ainols!

  • most places you don't get ainol for $149! bargain!>!??!

Guys. New to this, but what do you guys think of the Ainol Novo 7 Myth compared to this?
    http://www.gadgetgreats.com/ainol-novo-7-myth-quad-core-tabl…

    • +1

      myth = venus

      no gps. no bt

get the fire which has bt and bigger battery and better gpu

      • I see. Cheers for that.
Err so Ainol Fire would be the best (highest range) 7" tablet Ainol has then?

        • yeah it is

if it had gps i'd be all over it

  • Anyone know if ainol is any good?

    • +1

you have to try ainol to find out. i had my first ainol a year and half ago and still love it….lol
jokes aside it can be pretty good. mine ainol aurora has been used 8 hours a day for more than a year and it is still going strong.

  • Had mine for a month now. Screen is rich on par with my nexus 7 if not a tad better, I am using the Flambe firmware it's English and makes it look like a nexus 7 store.
It's very stable once you reformat the internal storage.
My only complaint is the popcorn sound the device makes randomly even when in sleep mode, it apparently happens with all firmwares so most likely a hardware issue. Paired with a 64gb micro sd makes a great little tablet.

  • hi Rep (denghongterry), will you any more special discount if we buy 2?
and how long is the delivery time range to Melbourne?

    Please reply asap. Thx

    • Hi zsa82, as the product is in clearance with a very low price we are not able to offer more discount. But we can send you 2 free soft case. Just let me know if you get the order number, we will send the soft cases along with the tablets. :-)

  • .

  • Hi Rep (denghongterry), do you have it on stock ready to be shipped?
from the website there is Expedited Shipping (6 - 8 Days) option - which shipping company is used for expedited shipping? is it really going to be received in 6 - 8 days?

  • Is this the best 7" tablet made by this gang? Is it superior in any way to a Nexus 7 or basically just a well priced tablet that you would buy if you didn't wish to shell out for a pure google product?

Also - why are they out of stock - even from the manufacturer? Are that so popular they can't even keep up with demand?
