Samsung 65" S90F OLED 4K Smart AI TV (2025) $2,995 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

110

See the 2nd best OLED in the Samsung lineup (behind the S95F).

Arguably not as a discount good as the S95F which was just on sale for $500 more. This is more expensive then sales on the last generation, however given the new RRP’s this is sitting at 30% off and potentially the new norm.

EDIT: Updating to reflect it’s a WOLED Panel - credit: Kazusa

This is WOLED, you can see by the E suffix in the product code

    FAWXXY - QD oled
    FAEXXY - Woled

    • Yup, sadly only the 55" S90F is QD-OLED this year, which limits your options for affordable glossy QD-OLED. Situation should hopefully rectify itself next year as LG and Samsung continue to invest in better solutions than basic WOLED.

  • If I am going to give up at ever seeing a 65” LG C/G at sub $3k again, is this a close enough option?

This comparison isn't relevant in Australia if Samsung is using W-OLED panels for their Australian models. In US Samsung use QD-OLED panels for 65 & 55 inch models, but bigger & smaller models use W-OLED panels - it's bloody confusing

        • How much is it really going to differ aside from the Colour Volume? It's using the same WOLED panel.

          • @Maths Debater: Fair point. Would make me lean towards the LG given it has Dolby Vision.

You would think that LG would not give Samsung the same 2025 version of W-OLED panel in the C5 for the S90F, given they are competitors. They probably give Samsung the 2024 version of W-OLED that was in the C4

        • Very confusing indeed.

          I bought the 55 S90D, which is a QD-LED.

It's weird that the 65 model that is one year newer uses W-OLED.

@CrushJelly: US market still gets QD-LED for S90F - Samsung loves making it extra confusing for everyone

Thanks to this thread I am more confused than ever and will just keep watching my VT50 until a G5 falls from the sky.

      • S95F will likely be cheaper than the G5, worth a look to see how the matte coating performs.

  • Should I care about WOLED vs QDOLED?

    • Yes, no real point to getting a Samsung if it's not QD-OLED, might as well get an LG with their own panel and superior software/processing. Well besides price that is.

      • thanks. If you could get the S90D (QDOLED) for a similar price to the S90F (WOLED), would you go for the D, even if its a gen old?
Edit: Price of S90D at Powerland literally went up $380 this afternoon. so its now about $400 more than what I can get the S90F for. I am a bit price conscious.

At the same price yeh I would go the S90D. But it's closer now because I think these S90F WOLEDs are using LG's latest tandem sub pixel layout which pushes the colour saturation closer to QD-OLED but not quite there yet. And the brightness boost (i think but not fully sure on this) almost matches the S90D's now. So it's a bit of a toss up.

Uniformity and colour accuracy bit better on the QD-OLEDs too though in general so there's that. Long term the S90D is the better bet but that is a bit of a significant price difference, surely you can track down a S90D somewhere for cheap? 2nd hand even. Just be wary of the size you're going for, cause the S90D was WOLED in some sizes in Oz.

@buyerbee: I think the real problem is that no one really knows how S90F WOLEDs are like - the latest LG WOLEDs are honestly amazing and they review really well even against QD-OLEDs… but because most TV reviewers are based in US, we can never really know how the new Samsung WOLEDs compare to these.

            • @CheapCoffee: Yeh I can only go off the Flatpanelshd database which is claiming the WOLED 90F's are pushing up to 1500 nits now, and in store they do look great. But i'm guessing it's a little less than that in reality, probably matching the C5's it looks about that level just eyeing it.

Definitely have the extra colour volume with the new tandem 4 stack sub pixel structure or whatever, it is a noticeable difference to last year's WOLEDs. Only problem is they might be a tiny bit dim but that's only compared to the G5/S95F's which is a bit of an unfair comparison. And perhaps the C5's might have a bit better brightness brightness overall thanks to LG's superior processing OOB. Could prob push the 90F's closer here with a bit of fiddling.

Which then goes back to the issue of no real point to a Samsung WOLED unless the price is significantly better.

So $4,199 S90F is the current sweet spot for a 77" LG or Samsung?

    • Currently debating whether to pick this up or see if the LG C5 77 will come down to this price, but the $4k mark for a 77 oled seem the best

I'd prefer an LG but the gf wants 77 inches.
