Clone Hero and YARG on the PC (with some tinkering required).

Can't speak for the PS version, but the XB version is plug and play for YARG. No tinkering required. That said, I recommend adjusting the power tilt to a lower threshold. Shame you can't do that on console. Gotta get it right up near vertical to trigger.

  • XB version pretty easy for Clone Hero just need to download RB4 instrument mapper from GitHub

  • Considering getting this. I had my eye on it for a while.

How's the PS5 controller for Clone Hero? I'd rather get the PS5 one just incase I want to use it on the PS5 but I mainly play Clone Hero.

  • As long as y'all have been messing with Clone Hero and whatnot, maybe this is the right place to ask,

Has anyone tried these in DevMode? Been thinking about it for the longest time to try with the PS2 OGs emulated on Xbox DevMode. I imagine worst case, you could at least map the frets to be the controller inputs for the first few (1,2,Aerosmith, 3, 80s) that support controller input, and strum along for funzies at the very least.

PS, since delivery is "from 9.99", know that EB have it for 158 with in-store pickup if you prefer.

  • Whats the point of 2 sets of 5 buttons? Is it made for different tracks or instruments than normal 5 buttons?

The lower fret buttons are positioned closer together for more technical parts of a song.

Though I still haven't used them yet.

Eddie Van Halen simulator 2025, easier for tapping.

Been playing RB since the first one on PS2, and a massive EVH fan, also never used the buttons.

  • I own two of the xbox versions of this controller.

The most noticeable difference between riffmasters and guitar hero guitars is the quality and that riffmasters have a quiet strum bar.

For game compatibility on windows 10:
YARG was easy to setup once the controller has been added to the player profile.

Clone Hero with RB4 instrument mapper was frustrating for me as RB4 would crash on detecting the guitar. I had to do a clean install of Windows to get it working.
And even then RB4 needs to be opened first and it only detects the guitar soon after plugging it in, that's the only opportunity for me to do the remap. So I often found myself doing unplug, replugs until it was detected and I clicked the remap only once.
I could seem to find info online about anyone else experiencing these issues, so it might just be me who's affect

I find that official guitar hero xbox 360 guitars (with a Windows USB dongle) are much easier to use on PC as they work out of the box.

Something that I have been excited about is this adapter that makes the riffmaster cross platform.
So I don't have to rely on RB4 instrument mapper.
    MiniHost - USB Adapter
I've tested two guitars on PS2, PS3, and PC (GH, CH, YARG).
Xbox 360 should be compatible too (I haven't tested yet), but you need a USB extension cable as the adapter can't fit in the xbox's USB nook.

Also, I have a logitech playstation 2/3 drum kit and the adapter can be configured via software below from guitar mode to drum mode to make the drum kit cross platform.
These drums already work without an adapter on the PC version of guitar hero world tour, but the riffmaster does require the adapter.
I think the drums worked fine on YARG too.
So configuring the adapter would be for Xbox 360 and maybe clone hero for me.

The RCM programming tool allowed me to configure tilt sensitivity under the devices section.
The riffmaster default tilt configuration was that tilt was always on, which isn't practical.
After configuring, tilt wouldn't activate, but as a workaround there's a small button on the controller near your pinky finger that activates star power.

I've been in touch with RCM support and it looks like I just need to experiment with configuring it in different ways. A firmware update will probably help too.

The whammy bar worked fine without any configuration required.

I ordered two of the adapters and shipping was around the cost of one of them.

Also with multiple riffmasters, it's easy to mix up the dongles, so I added colour coded stickers to the riffmaster dongles and guitars.

  • This guitar is worse than a Rock Band 1 guitar. Sure, it's quieter, but the amount of times you think you press the frets or strum bar and it doesn't register drives me insane. I'm no expert guitarist, but this one is worse than the PDP ones. It seems somewhat smaller and more awkward to play as well. Might just be me. The tilt for overdrive doesn't work half the time either (I used it for playing in Rock Band 4 on the PS4).
