8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller for Switch/Switch 2 & Windows PC has now been updated for the Switch 2, so works the same as the Switch 2 Pro controller, including back buttons (the wake from sleep function of the Switch 2 Pro controller has yet to be updated on this though)

To me, a much better but than the Switch 2 Pro, as it has Hall effect joysticks, more buttons, and can work on other devices (the Switch 2 Pro controller only works on Switch 2)

From the website:

Flagship, fully upgraded for next-level performance. Compatible with Switch/Switch 2 and Windows - Bluetooth, 2.4G, or Wired USB for Switch, 2.4G or Wired USB for Windows.

TMR Joysticks – Offering higher sensitivity, greater precision, and enhanced durability, complete with an RGB Fire Ring and wear-resistant joystick rings.

Vibration and Motion control (for Switch only). Turbo function. Support 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2.

Trigger Mode Switch - Easily switch between linear Hall Effect triggers and non-linear tactile triggers for optimal control across different gaming scenarios.

2 Pro-level back buttons. Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Tactile bumpers and D-pad. 3 custom profiles.

Wake-on-shake (Switch 2 wake-up function not supported). Includes a multi-functional charging dock and a USB-C adapter for seamless connectivity.

  • (the wake from sleep function of the Switch 2 Pro controller has yet to be updated on this though)

zzzzzzz this is the only funciton i want, couldn't care less about extra buttons.

    • Yes, agree it would be handy, and they have been good with updates all week, so hopefully it will happen down the line. I would rather a controller than won't get stick drift, which my Nintendo Pro controllers did!

Yeah it's actually pretty annoying having to have the regular controller with you to wake it.

      • +2

I'm just pissed that nintendo made the original pro controllers not wake it either, so wouldn't be surprised if the 8BitDo's aren't able to ever either.

        • +1

I've heard anecdotally that the remote-wake function being limited to the new right joycon/pro controller is because the Switch 2 is using a newer Bluetooth implementation- and then for power-saving reasons or security or whatever, while in sleep mode it can't detect/isn't listening for the legacy wake signal sent out by peripherals for the original Switch.
Not that this justifies the issue of course, but it at least offers an explanation as to why; the same however can't be said for the Switch 2 Pro controller's D-pad, which apparently still sucks just as much and for the same reasons as the original.

          • @Proliferation: that is the most nintendo ass explanation and is likely not grounded in reality.

Checking Camel3x, this price is normal. Still bought 2

  • This or gamesir cyclone 2 for $30-40 less on Ali?

    • Cyclone 2 is quite good.
      $35 after temu cashback.

  • Can someone please explain, besides button positions how this one is any different? It's $10 less.

No Bluetooth on the cheaper one.

      • That is incorrect. It's just not switch compatible out of the box.

I've been considering one of these and can confirm that this price is the going rate on Amazon. No "deal" here.

Some posts out me off buying stating that these weren't the best for shooters.. Anyone have one?

    • I have two and they're great for playing casual smash bros on my ipad. I think it will suffer playing shooters because the sticks don't reset to zero. So you move a stick right and let go, it can add some left input into it. Might be solvable with firmware down the line…

    • you can change the dead zone through the app or the controller itself. you will have to Google the button combo to do it

  • Have to disagree with you there, it would cost around $129 to get it sent from 8Bit Do's website, and if I got it from Amazon's US site, so at $99 it is a deal, even if it is the price Amazon AU have given it for the few weeks they have had it in stock.

    • disagree away good sir. I've been watching these for the past month and $89 is the best price Amazon has had with $99 being the worst.

      • And to thee, good sir, prithee take heed—for upon the marketplace known as Amazon, there lieth sundry versions of this noble controller: the Ultimate, the Ultimate II, the Ultimate I Wireless (yet lacking in the magic of Blutooth), and the Ultimate II Wireless. Whichever path we hath trod, methinks we both rejoice in the choices of our lives!
