Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ & JBL 720 Wireless Headphones $277 + Delivery ($0 to Metro Areas/ OnePass/ C&C/ in-Store) @ Officeworks

330

Seems like a pretty good deal.

Samsung sell them directly for $279 and these come with a free set of JBL Tune 720 bluetooth headphones. Bargain

it seems like you're paying too much for a $99 headset, and get a free tablet to go with it (it's so slow it should be free)

I mean, Samsung is bundling these for $50 with some of their web store purchases, and that seems like a little bit too much, considering reviews

      this comment is brutal

    • I got the A8 from that optus deal and it's incredibly sluggish. Only using it now as a mobile hotspot.

If this is anything similar, it'll be painful to use.

same. it was good to trade in for something else few months down the track. lucky it was a trade in option on Asurion

      • +1

No A8 was different. This is a little bit more upmarket than the A8 and Samsung switched to a mid tier Snapdragon chip for this generation.

I got that tablet for free with my galaxy ultra and it's so bad it's not even funny, ended up flashing it with a custom os but it's barely usable with lineage os and less so with pixel is. Would not recommend.

  • Which variant is this A9+?
    4GB or 8GB RAM version?

    • +4

This one is the 4GB version. Would not recommend as the 4GB version has poor multi tasking performance.

I think the comments are a bit harsh. It's an entry level tablet. Obviously it's not going to fit everyone's requirements, but at this price it's still a good deal. Are there really better value options out there for a 3 and a 5 year old wanting to use the reading eggs app and maybe play some basic games? Maybe some AliExpress tablets? I tried that with the alldocube iplay 60 pro and it failed at setting up family link (known issue on reddit with no fix) , plus it had issues with internet connectivity (maybe just my bad luck). There's a reason pcmag voted the Samsung a9+ the best entry level Android tablet. What are the local, out of the box everything works alternatives in the sub $300 price range?

Have 5x of these for kids the 9+ has the better snapdragon CPU but yeah will still lag without doing some setting tweaks,

Could only recommend for a child 3 to 5 years reading eggs and some light kids youtube,

      • Speed tricks inside developer options in side setting
        quick google will show them,

      • Aliexpress thick kids case get the ones with fold out legs the other type the hinge gives up after 12 months and tablets don't stay up right $20 >

      • Magnetic usb c cable to protect the usb c port from the kids pushing breaking it. (To replace the port requires screen removal can DIY but say goodbye to a afternoon)

Wouldn't spend more than $250 if you can

      • Thanks for the useful advice! Any recommendations for the magnetic usb c plug? Something from AliExpress?

    • Thank you for keeping my hopes up. I bought this few days ago and now waiting for delivery.. My son will use it for reading eggs and sunshine online.

why samsung devices always need extra amperage to charge properly?

    • What do you mean by this? They charge like anything else

    • +1

Yeah if the tablet is run down to 0% you have to hold the power and volume button for 10sec whilst charging, plus yeah quick charge 2.0 for fast charging get you 3.5 hrs 0 - 100 % other chargers are about 5 to 6 hours.

  • I've got the 8gb/128gb version of this tablet, it actually works really well. Doesn't seem slow at all to me and screen and audio are solid for media.
I am planning to sell it now because I picked up the Lenovo Idea Tab, but if I hadn't impulse bought the Lenovo when it was on sale, I'd be fine staying with the A9+

  • I have a near decade old Samsung tablet that has served me well. I have read peoples gripes with them over time….. but I must have a high tolerance for pain!!! Or more appropriately I need to check out other options and see if the tablet experience gets better.

  • This tablet is 64GB version and on 4GB RAM. Yes 4GB RAM. (Means it has very less memory to process a number of APPs or keep them in the background)

I agree it is a entry level tablet, but my personally will say a outdated entry level tablet.
For kid just watching youtube which is OK but keep it mind it will not least long as it's capacity and especially the memory size.

Believing the performance will be disappointed and suffering with most of the game playing (e.g.Roblox) also it will laggy with a number of APPs running in the background.
Really not recommended for this price for an incomplete tablet experience in 2025.

  • JBL 720 Wireless Headphones - $84.99 from bunnings (seems like a normal regular price)

  • this is the 64gb / 4gb ram version…. pass thanks

Although this can support DeX, the target audience isnt going to be using this for work. I've tried the 4gb at Officeworks and its fine for using streaming services, youtube and general internet browsing. Also personally I couldnt tell the difference between the speed of this screen at 90hz to the higher end tablets at 120hz
