Oh I just bought it for like 204 at officeworks lol

    • This would be cheaper if cashrewards doesn't track cashback

      • You don't say genius.

    • +1

Can you please share how did you get in 204 it is still showing 250 on officeworks

      • Price beat Woolworth and then 2% GC

        • -1

First time wirh Optus, already regret it. If I goto my basement, no coverage and my friend said my voice kept dropping while I was driving talking to him lol 😂 so a bad internet and coverage even when I am on 5G as opposed to boost

          • @sqheaven: There were 15x points on flybys as well

          • @sqheaven: How is the calls and text btw?

            • @ATTS: Calls are ok, if you're driving you'll keep getting patches of muting :s

Telstra network wins. Never had this on boost.

              • @sqheaven: Oh no.

Thanks, yes never had probs with boost but got expensive.

Gonna try optus, if probs ill switch to boost again

          • +1

@sqheaven: off topic: I sooo jealous of those who have a house with a basement.
I tried building a house with a basement but got constant knock backs from council.

This looks like a good deal on paper.

However, my personal experience is, it never tracked in my cashrewards app via phone or browser on pc. Now I'm in the process of hassling Optus to cancel both prepaid sims…

    Complete waste of time.

    • It tracks for me. CR knows I have purchased it after 5 minutes.

      • +6

Tracking and payout are two different things. Something one realises when the cashback service makes an excuse not to pay the cashback amount (almost always blaming it on the merchant).

        • +3

I understand that, however I think it'd be hard for cashrewards to argue that I didn't click via them if my purchase isn't tracked at all. In this case, my purchase has been tracked so I have a higher confidence level of getting a cashback.

          • +1

@PipSqueakables: They won't deny it tracked, but generally they'll come back with an excuse about the merchant not approving the cashback for some reason and there's nothing they can do about it. Large cashbacks like this are a gamble.

            • @Trishool: It's the nature of of the beast: money-back claims are NON-transparent. When buyers lose, there is NO-audit trail to provide proof of what went wrong-> Optus &/or CashRewards can wash their hands. When amounts are HIGHER, so is the incentive to SELECTIVE-SCAMMING. MINORITY of buyers will gamble & fail…encourage by those who succeed.

The limited-days on offer: borderline-buyers…what does it do to your desire & thinking?

Watch this space in 6 months time😱🫢

    • +10

Yeah not sure if it will be worth the risk…

    • -2

      Second this. Exactly my experience.

To make matters worse, Optus didn't activate the right plan and transferred a blank sim card.

Needless to say I said (profanity) this, activated my Boost Mobile Prepaid.

For my other mobile, I ended up purchasing through Woolworth directly instead of the price beat from Officeworks, as they said the deal had to be online and the catalogue wouldn't cut it. They would only pricebeat if it was an online retailer. Woolworth's sale was online for instore. There were 3rd party resellers of the card, but it was for 329 - I said (profanity) that

      • -1

That's a lot of French over a couple of SIMs.

    • +7

Worked well for me back in November when they did this for BF. No issues and I got the cashback on time.

      • +2

Worked well for me back in November

Same here, no issues with my Cashrewards cashback from last November: https://imgur.com/a/eyzPAoH

In general, I use a dedicated browser with no installed extensions AND a VPN (since I use Pi-hole with my router). I very, very rarely have cashback tracking issues.

      • Did you purchase a physical SIM or an eSim for this?

        • For the Nov offer I went with a physical SIM.

      • Same here. No issue with physical SIM purchase and got $100 cashback. Looks like the issue is about buying eSIM. Just get physical SIM instead and it should be fine.

    • -1

My experience was the same - Cashrewards said esim was not included in the T&Cs but I 100% clearly remember it was, and they tried every possible way to avoid giving me the cashback. After a lot of hassling, they added it to my account in Pending state and said it is possible that Optus might reject it. The success rate is just too low - avoid!

    • This deal worked for me previously with cash out completed.. not sure why it didn’t work for you

  • Thx op but I think you have to put price before cashback in title, hence report by someone.

  • +8

We need to ban Optus cashbacks!

  • +19

Do it at your own risk. Purchased this offer earlier on the 12/06 and CB never tracked . its a nightmare to cancel the sim and you have to call multiple times to get to someone who works in the pre-paid plans team. I had to reject the sim delivery and now chasing them up for a refund. its one expensive sim if the CB doesnt track. Get a pricebeat from OW instead even if its a bit pricey. Even if it tracks , CR support is useless and you will be following up for months to get it approved.

    • I saw this deal last time when it was first posted (and I saw your reply as well - thx for sharing), and just wanted to share my experience. I clicked through the CR app and made the purchase, but the cashback didn’t track initially. I waited the full 7 days (as per CR’s site, tracking can take 1–7 days) for the “Make a Claim” button to become available.

I submitted the claim online with no issues. While CR’s policy says it can take up to 25 business days to process cashback claims, mine was approved in just 6 business days — the $150 cashback showed up in my account this Monday from a $275 purchase. No drama, no back and forth. The claim process was smooth and required no additional communication.

Now I’m enjoying what I think is the best prepaid plan in a long time — $125 for 300GB with 5G and a generous international call/data package across many countries.

Just thought I’d share — CR came through for me, and overall it was a pretty hassle-free experience.

  • +3

This made me check if my $100 cashback from November tracked and it did!

  • +8

Use a pc clean browser no blockers, Cashrewards toolbar activated. Cashrewards claimed i used a different cashback site to purchase it. Sttaight up liars, i got my cashabck in the end after many emails calling them out but im sure they have denied many

"Unfortunately the reason your order didn't initially track into your account is because Cashrewards have not been attributed to your sale, which means that another marketing channel has received commission for your sale instead of us.  As a result, we don’t have any funds from the store for this purchase to pass back to you as cashback"

    • +2

Yeah this type of thing is a good reason to use Microsoft's bloatware browser instead of whatever browser you typically use.

      • I always try to purchase via the ios app (i assume there is an android version). Hard to argue it didn’t track when you purchase via the embedded browser in the app.

  • If I want to keep my Amaysim number, could I still get the cash back?

    • Yeah, you can switch from Amaysim to Optus. It took me under 15 minutes.

      • Thanks, mate, but this "Applies to new sign-ups only." does transfer a number qualified for new sign-ups?

        • +1

          Yes

  • +1

Thanks mate, mine has already tracked. Here's to hoping I get it paid out :)

  • Bought one in January no issues with tracking
Network is decent , Highly recommend 👍

    • Did you get CB yet? :)

      • Received on time

  • +1

The mixed feedback really makes me worry. My 365 days plan with Voda expired today… twisting my thumbs now…

    • +3

Your name is trouble, go get it!

  • You don't get Optus Sport with this.

  • 5G?

    • +1

I bought last year, and yes it has 5G

      • Thanks Roger, website looked like a yes but always good to have real feedback

  • +4

Optus cashback never tracked for me!

  • +2

yeh load of shit, this cash back registered on my topcashback, but they say I was using ad block or some sh*t which isn true. IF you get honored cash back its worth it but the risk is high of not getting honoured.

    • Sir, this is Cashrewards.

I had a few Optus on Cashrewards, with the latest one was a 365 days on Black Friday deal, tracked and paid off successfully. However yeah, it's always a riskier when buying long plan, if it doesn't track, it's not a good price.

  • +1

Ordered at 10.51, tracked at 11.01.
    Cashrewards app, Android.

  • What does new activation mean? Assuming we can still port number and be eligible for cashback (if it gets tracked)

  • +2

$100 mil fine for optus. Just on the news.

    • +1

People so quick to forget the double hack floptus had 😂😂😂

    • 100 mil, that's a lot of SIMs to sell lol..

  • I got mine too tracked in cashback, hopefully will get it soon.

  • +1

Did the transaction within cashrewards App two weeks ago but not tracked. I won’t cancel the SIM card as it seems need more time and efforts than money overpay. Cashrewards is downvoting.

  • +1

'Applies to new sign-ups only', new sign ups to CR or optus? existing CR account is eligible to get cashback for this deal?

    • Same question. Do I have to open a new CR a/c with a different mobile number and email?

  • If I purchase the eSIM, does it activate right away? Asking because my Kogan 365 plan expires next month, would love to grab this deal but not activate the plan right away. Can't find any information regarding this.

  • +1

Wow so much negative feedback. Wouldn’t risk it

  • +2

28 days plans: it's a trap-> 'Service must maintain an active recharge state for 90 days post activation', https://www.cashrewards.com.au/store/optus-prepaid-sim
    Does anyone want to pay FULL-price 2rd & 3rd month ?

    • +1

Thats cheeky. Not a deal for smaller recharges

    • So sus of them that even our professionals can't confirm what it means

  • +2

Did not get cashback from this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/901185

  • +2

It's is pretty trash these days with much better options around.

  • If someone wants to try it, buy the starter kit, if CR does not track within 28 day, call Optus and get a refund.

  • +7

Take this up at your own risk. Cashrewards didn't honour an Optus cashback offer for me last year. And by the time they confirmed that they couldn't honour it because Optus says my order was not eligible, it was waaay past any return or cancellation date (more than 6 months).

Deleted my account with cashrewards after that. Was going downhill after TA made his exit anyways

    • Yeah with TA quitting, i quit too. TA was great and have them a lot of credibility.

    • I'd quit Optus too. Looks like they are to blame.

  • Wow, a lot of negative reviews. I am minded to stay clear….as it appears to be too risky ?

    • The risk is ultimately yours to take, but a lot of OzBargainers, including me, haven't had their Optus purchases tracked.

  • +2

Chiming in with another caution - tracking didn't work on a $350 cash back with Optus via ShopBack recently. Seems probable Optus are banking on this - just look at the Red Sea of negs above.

    • Shopback has a similar promo?

  • Rolled the dice. Purchased 07:56 in cashrewards app on android. No tracking yet.

    • I think cr has got some problems with their mobile app recently. It cannot be logged in for the whole last weekend and on Monday this issue was fixed, but then it still happened intermittently until yesterday. I'm sure not my NBN's fault.

Mine hasn't been tracked as well but I'll be able to file the case tomorrow. Let's see what happens.

      • Still hasn't tracked for me. I managed to cancel the order.

  • I bought it knowing the risks. I'm kinda scared ngl. I screen recorded everything. I won't even open the package until it tracks.

  • +1

    Cashback tracking issues..

  • I hope TA can see this.

    • he doesn't rep cashrewards anymore?

      • Really? What happened? Things got tighter since he left?

  • On another note, looking back at my tracking claims, I've never really seen one that got declined, so maybe it's just Optus?

    • I'm 99% sure it's on Optus end.

      • Yeah, CR and Optus made a deal with each other. Must be in the Ts and Cs. Optus not following on and leeching of the benefits. CR should do something about it though…Optus exploiting.

  • +1

Always check before proceeding to payment if Cashrewards picked up the transaction properly. There is a difference between "post-paid" and "pre-paid". Best would be to turn off all adblockers, activate PREPAID cashback, go to the Optus website and then confirm that cashrewards (before payment) have registered that as "prepaid" - use "report missing transaction" panel to confirm it. Had to return/cancel my order with optus as CR registred my transaction as postpaid

    • I suspect this is why mine has not tracked. There's a mix of both showing. I managed to cancel the order after 2 hours with Optus live chat and 4 transfers between departments.

  • Had no problems with the previous BF deal tracking with CR. $100 Cashback was paid in April.

    • Did you have any other services in your Optus Account? I wonder whether having NBN service will count as existing users (instead of New).

  • My cashback tracked almost immediately

  • I originally had my number with Optus a few years ago and have since ported it to Belong and a few other providers. Would I still be eligible for this cashback offer? Also, do I need to create a new cashback account to qualify as a new sign-up?

    • asfaik you need just new email with optus and just it, look in previous deals for others feedback
