If you use uTag and have issues registering the device, go to the SmartThings app and clear cache and force close. Relaunch the app and retry.
Pixel 6a. Took multiple attempts but was able to register 4 without too much trouble using that method.
Awful reviews on the official Samsung page lol
I have one and it works for my needs, i.e. finding my keys in my house.
For tracking a car i think id use a gps device with 4g so it isnt dependent on nearby phones.
it's the best tracker for a Samsung, don't have anything bad to say about it except for occasional false notifications such as 'low battery' and 'tag is not nearby' when it's 1 metre away, also if you have it set to alert you if you walk away from the tag - it takes too long to notify. Using it as a tracker is pretty good, in a capital city anyway where there's going to be a higher density of Samsungs.
How do you know whether the low battery is true or false
the app shows you the battery level, mine still shows 100%, not sure at what what battery percentage you get VALID low battery alerts but I'd guess at 10 - 20% battery.
I have 8 of these and they work great.
The only thing i have issue with is the app itself. Sometimes it is slow af
People generally only bother leaving a review if there's a problem. There are plenty of people who are just happily using it and have no reason to go to the Samsung website, login, and leave a review just to say "It works".
They also exist if you look
Yup, hence the "generally".
@eug: most reviews seem to be positive on there, but there's enough to make me think they're not as good as airtags for now. i can wait for a better device
@belongsinforums: FWIW CarExpert did a comparison a few years ago in Melbourne. That was with the old version of the SmartTag too.
Telstra $25 was back in stock, if you have points to use, that might be cheaper. Because the code wasn't working, I bought from Telstra with points+ cash
Thanks, used some points!
Have been advised 150 quantities are allocated for this promo code

OOS again
It says new, not brand new.
"New
A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item. See the seller's listing for full details."
If you hover over the 'i' or check under the Item Specifics:
New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item. See the seller's listing for full details.
Oos
Restocked.
Jumped on it and suddenly remembered that I need to be a PLUS member yikes
If you don't have eBay Plus, other alternative:
Thanks mate
This or an Airtag?
Wrong question. Does your phone have a fruit as it's logo or does is it say Samsung?
Have both, just in case one doesn’t work.
When using this to track luggage or parcel, does it only use nearby Samsung devices to relay the location?
I thought that all android phones would participate. Google seems to be coy in giving me a straight answer, but what I've read so far sems to indicate that it is limited to Samsung ecosystem only.
Yeah only more modern Samsung's will talk to the tag, so that will make you believe the Google Find my device tags will work much better but there have been so many comparisons and unless something has changed very recently, Google tags (under various brands) aren't better, and aren't very good.
Samsung only but the good news is that all Samsung devices participate
google has their own tag where all Android phones can participate but only if you turn on some setting buried somewhere. So it's actually worse and I went with Samsung.
OOS just when I was placing my order. Oh well.
Took them long enough to fix the code.
It was applying to the white this morning, which was already out of stock.
PS: uTag can be used for non-Samsung Android devices running Android 11 or above.
