fixed, sorry - haven't posted anything in a while

I was too excited to share, fixed - thanks!

  • I really don't want a 4th battery system… but this is better value than the Ozito PXC 18V Cordless Drill and Impact Driver PX2PAK-500 - Kit which isn't brushless and only includes 2x2.5ah batteries for $70 less

You're comparing apples with oranges there.

More like comparing Fuji apples with Royal gala apples

This is a great deal for high quality tools. With all these fantastic deals lately from other brands, I almost regret buying into Makita all those years ago:)

If you are starting out and just need a drill and impact, this is near a no brainer to buy.

I feel like it's important to mention that Metabo batteries and tools are CAS-compatible, helping you avoid vendor-lock in.

CAS is a great initiative but unfortunately every other brand makes specialist tools for the European market. People are better off buying adapters for cheaper batteries.

  • I’m a builder and use Metabo at home.
We use Bosch, Milwaukee and Makita for work but I’ve been slowly building up my Metabo kit for home use.

I love my Metabo gear and I use the Metabo batteries with adapters for other misc tools. I even use 2 x 10a big mummas in my kids 24v (Now 36v) drift karts.

Just curious, do you deliberately have a separate work kit and home kit? Why don’t you just use your work kit at home?

      • Fringe benefit tax

      • Sounds like workplace owns those tools, he bought Metabo for his own personal use

      • I’m not personally “on the tools” at work and even though I’m the boss, I rather my staff have their vehicles fully loaded. I used to used Bosch at home as well but my boys kept pinching my batts.

If I was on the tools then yes, it would mostly be the same kit for both work and home however a lot of tools stay on job sites and then aren’t at home or in the ute when you need them. I often have to beg for time to do garden chores and the times I am successful are irregular and inconsistent.

  • good deal, but already have ozito for diy and makita for work. i had ryobi, milwaukee and dewalt. i got out of control because of gateway deals like this makes me buy it and next thing you know i have too many platforms again.

  • for an apprentice investing in power tools, should I go with this or big 4 (Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee, Bosch)?

    • +2

As someone that used tools for an income, I would personally pick a platform that has the tools you need and may want in the future. And also include in your choice, potential outdoor power tools like hedge trimmers, chainsaws etc.

Have used Milwaukee and then Makita. I ultimately swapped to Makita at the time, as some of their tools were better, and they were a little less expensive. Not the case now. Both are excellent, but Dewalt is also vey good, and mostly reasonably priced.

I would suggest that Bosch may be the last choice, as their tool line up is more limited, and generally quite expensive outside sale deals.

      • Thanks! Company provides power tool but I feel like I should have my own too but budget is stretching thin and all big 4s set are exxy.

    • Bosch have 6y warranty on tools AND batteries which I think is unique. I've found if you're not in a hurry dewalt seems to have the best sales/offers but for an apprentice starting you'll want a full kit of the basics to start.

Probably depend on trade as much as anything, mechanics and plumbers seem to like Milwaukee, sparkies Bosch or Makita and carpenters Dewalt as they've probably been using the dewalt mitre saws since day 1.

  • If someone is going to get Metabo tools for work, look for LTX series tools

  • This or the Bosch deal for DIY? My old hammer drill has just about had it.

  • I got this kit in the black friday deal. It replaced a stanley fatmax kit. For the money its a great kit. I guess I bought it because because my batteries were hitting 10 years old (though still performing OK) and well .. ozbargain.
One thing to note for minor jobs I still use the fatmax kit quite a bit because its lighter. I guess thats the thing with the trade quality stuff can be a it overkill at times.

  • I need something for diy jobs around the house, timber, brick veneer etc. At most or max is when i try and diy a backyard deck plus fence repairs. Thats all the power i need.
