About this item:

  • Brushless motor Designed to provide maximum efficiency, runtime, and reliability.
  • Large 33cm cutting swath for fast and effective trimming.
  • Bump-feed QUICKWIND spool system provides a strong 2mm dual line to tackle thicker grass and weeds.
  • Gear Drive Transmission: For increased torque and more cutting power.

It does look like split-shaft system, bit I could not find hedge trimmer attachment that fits this system. Unlike EGO 56V system. Anyone?

This as its a decent brand, exact same tolls as Craftsman USA. Also ordering from Amazon means returns are a breeze if anything goes wrong.

    do these string constantly break?

    • what?

    • +5

It’s not about the line, it’s about the application/technique. Eg, if you keep cutting against a concrete slab or brick verneer, it doesn’t matter how thick the gauge of the line is, it’ll always snap. Another way to kill line trimmer line is to plunge the line perimeter into material without getting it to speed first, rather than using the tip of the line to do the work. Without the line moving at its peak velocity, the temptation to lean the line in further to improve cutting efficiency only decreases the cutting power further, and increases the inner part of the line being blunt prematurely. When that inner part of the exposed line then makes it to the outer perimeter, it’s blunt, and the cycle continues of leaning in further to account for the lack of cutting efficiency, which perpetuates the cycle.

Tl;dr: use the tip of the line at full speed. Concrete cuts lines.

  • What’s the difference over this one for $125.40?

Edit: I see it, brushless and 2mm dual line on the more expensive one.

    • Your's is not brushless, a.k.a cheap motor with perishable contact groups. Brushless don't have rotating contacts that wear off. Magnets, biatch !

      • Haha yeah I noticed shortly after I posted the question. All good!

You hear a motor and you think that of me?

I am the one who trims.

  • what is run time?

    how compares to petrol models?

  • +1

I think someone who bought the last deal said the spool system was a weak point with this model.

I bought one last deal and have had no issues. Only thing I find is the shroud over the head is a bit restrictive. Could be a bit smaller. Not quite as powerful as the ryobi petrol it replaced, but no fueling and starting headaches any more. Oh, and head is not as robust as that on the ryobi but no feed issues so far…

    • what is the runtime you get with the battery (is it 4 Ah)?

Is there any potential issues with it failing somewhere (and where would it be)?
or is it just the battery need to replace after some years?

yeah petrol is annoying when it doesn't start…
and you need to diagnose what the issue is while needing to continually pulling the cord to try and start when it doesn't start which results shoulder being pain the day after…

Only thing I find is the shroud over the head is a bit restrictive. Could be a bit smaller. Not quite as powerful as the ryobi petrol it replaced,

so you will not go back to petrol model?
does it have issues with cutting stuff (e.g. need to go over area more than once) vs petrol since it is less powerful?

Oh, and head is not as robust as that on the ryobi but no feed issues so far…

      what you mean less robust?

      • what is the runtime you get with the battery (is it 4 Ah)?

***Takes me about 20 mins to edge my lawns after which there's still 2 bars on the meter with the 4A Batt…

or is it just the battery need to replace after some years?

***Definitely the head. The ryobi petrol head is built like a tank, not to say it wont last though… Bump feed seems to work ok…

***Plenty of power, just not quite as much as the petrol and not surprisingly…

        ***See above…

I had a lot of problems with this. It constantly released line and kept cutting it. It flinged it on to me causing multiple cuts from the wire shooting off. The line head of this Stanley caused nothing but problems.
Returned after a couple of days and bought an ego instead. It's the last time I cheapen out on garden equipment it's not worth the injuries caused. I've never felt more threatened from a garden tool than I did with this trimmer

obviously the Head was defective on your unit. Per my preceding comments, i've no had any issues so far with bump feed…

      • +1

Most likely, but it was enough to deter me, and share my concerns with the group here

  • Batteries included?

    I bought this last deal.
They sent me the non brushless model, which was junk (don’t buy). After returning and getting the correct model, I’ve had no issues with it, works well, no issue with spool. It Chews through battery quick on turbo mode, but lasts ages on low speed. I’ve only got a small townhouse, so suites my purposes. If I had more of a garden maybe look into the EGO multitool 56v

    • how did you know it wasnt brushless? asking because looking to purchase this

  • Only one spool instead of two. Looks a bit different, and it should say brushless on the pole.
