Dual mode OLED monitor that can do 4K 240hz or FHD 480hz. Note that you require a .edu.au email address to sign up for the education portal in the LG website to get this price. Seems like it might be an ATL for this monitor and overall pretty decent offering for the price considering the specs.

Can also add $76 of stuff to order to stack with this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/911576 (credit to @ilikeblue for pointing this out!)

Appears to be the older model of the 32" dual mode OLED monitors as it only had DisplayPort 1.4 vs the newer model which has DisplayPort 2.1: https://www.lg.com/au/monitors/ultragear-gaming/32gx870a-b/ which means this one will definitely need to use DSC over DisplayPort to get close to full output, however HDMI 2.1 should be able to drive this without compromise I think?

Great for all your super high refresh rate "educational" needs!

Commbank also has 150 casback on 1500 spend, might be worth adding $80 worth of stuff for those interested in buying the monitor and has access to commbank

I might add that the updated version 32GX870A is still only UHBR 13.5 (not UHBR20)

LG being stupid and adding DP 2.1 but not the full bandwidth is hilarious when you consider it'll still require DSC to do 4k240hz 10 bit

    • What 32” or slightly more inch OLED monitor would you recommend then?

      • Depends on what you want.

Newer 34 inch OLED can do 240hz at 3440x1440 10 bit with HDMI 2.1 without DSC. There is W-OLED and QD-OLED (only LG and maybe ASUS do the W-OLED). There are too many models for me to list.

32 inch OLED has the MSI 322URX and the Gigabyte FO32U2P, there may be more so search via “32inch OLED 4K 240hz DP2.1 UHBR20” to see if there are any newer ones. AFAIK these are all QD-OLED.

I could ramble about QD-OLED/W-OLED differences but there are lots of videos that discuss this.

DSC is largely unnoticeable which is fine (as is lossless compression), however the black screen of 3-5 seconds each time you alt-tab is infuriating enough for me to avoid anything that uses it entirely.

        • Thanks for the reply, I won’t use it for gaming as much as for work, sounds like between text issues and DSC maybe I’m best to just go for a high resolution LED monitor, whats the go to Dell these days?

    • I had no idea that it is possible to do DP 2.1 without the full bandwidth… Why would they even bother upgrading the spec to DP 2.1 without utilising the extra bandwidth, makes this deal better then I guess lol

  • how does the gx9 rate? tough sell at 3.5k but I'm sure we will see it at 2k within a few months

  • how to be edu?

  • Has anyone purchased one? I might pull the trigger on this.

    • FYI - It's $1399 at JB Hifi today.

      • I called LG to see if I can get a further discount on their website and if I don't receive an email before the end of July I will buy from JB.
