shouldn't the liners be perforated ones?

  • +1

It is a good machine. I already have one but I am tempted to buy another since they have a $15 or $75 deal atm.

    • are you cooking different kinds of foods at same time, hence needing more than 1 unit?

  • Amazing price for a great machine.

    What about microplastics?

    • +7

Don't like the taste of those. Prefer chicken drumstix.

    • +3

You're right, it's coated in PTFE, which will break down over time. I don't use mine very often, so not too worried. If you're going to use it often and want to avoid microplastics, you should probably get a larger "air fryer oven", which often have stainless steel interior, and more functions.

Or just use your regular fan forced oven with a wire mesh tray and avoid the whole Air Fryer scam!

        • You're right, if you don't need faster cooking times for potato chips, etc., and you don't have the space to store an air fryer, they're a fairly non-essential appliance. I probably use my regular oven + small toaster oven (for toast, grilled cheese, or reheating things) 99% of the time, and only get the air fryer out about once every 3 months.

        • They are actually qualitatively different. The higher fan speed in the small space reduces the steam envelope around the food which means things get crispier, faster. Whether the difference is enough to warrant the space it takes up and the price is a different question. The other big downside is the small amount of space available. I've had the opposite experience to the other commenter, the only time I bother with the oven is if I'm cooking a large batch that isn't practical in the air fryer.

        • even large electric ovens are often marketed as air fryers

          • @IcySpicyStew: I looked into this a bit further. It's a marketing friendly rebranding of the Fan Grill mode for anyone looking to give it a go. Most recent ovens will have a thermostat-based fan grill option you can use.

      • I don't use mine very often, so not too worried.

Hmm interesting… I thought people get these units for regular / frequent use due to their convenience

        • +1

Yeah, you probably use it more often if you have a convenient place to store it. My current kitchen is tiny, so mine is buried deep in a closet. Just handy to cook chips or crispy eggplant now and then.

  • Can the SHOPAPP coupon code also be used alongside EOFY15?

damn, this was just posted at $94 via amazon last week. still a great deal but '$20 is $20'

    • +2

$74 is better than $94, your comment made it sound like previous price was cheaper lol!

  • Instant Pots are being cleared out?

    • +1

Parent company has filed for bankruptcy.

      • That was years ago, they are no longer in bankruptcy.

      • After some private equity shenanigans drove them to bankruptcy they restructured and came out of bankruptcy in March 2024 as a standalone brand.

I have one of these, love it - easy to clean, great size.

    • What do you cook the most?

      • +4

hash browns, probably - I will never deep fry in my life, but I love a crispy potato experience!

        • +2

Haha that's what I cook the most in it too

  • Thanks OP. ordered $79 including shipping.

  • for some reason I'm getting $102.95 with the coupon code applied

  • +1

Stacked with $30 AfterPay referral code, winning! Thanks OP

  • im buying this for my brother who still has his Cortina that he squeezed a 351 cleveland in.

  • Any recommendations for an air fryer that has shelves and a visible interior (like a glass window)?

  • +1

bulky design, small cooking space, initial plastic burn smells
it's ok, nothing to brag about

  • +1

I'd wait for shopback to have another 18% cashback. It usually stacks with this coupon

  • I've had one of these for a couple of years, my first air fryer. It works just fine. Some bubbling on the internal basket walls, nothing I'm too concerned about yet.
But note that all of the buttons are a gimmick. They are just pre-sets that you can change the temp and time on. No difference in air fryer function, just the time and temp will be remembered from the last time you used that button.

Keep in mind you're supporting Trump by buying Instant Pot. They're releasing a Trump themed MAGA Instant Pot and proceeds will go to fund the Trump Presidential Library.

I've got one and will use the shit out of it, but I sure as hell won't buy anything else from them knowing where my money is going.

  • Silly question, but as a first time user of am air fryer, you don't actually add oil anywhere in the fryer right? Just if there is in the recipe etc?
    Noob question I know haiyaa
