      $136 new, no coupon.
      Or
$129 from amazon warehouse (one only)

    • -1

Same. Window and dishwasher safe basket are mandatory from now on

    • Same.

We are a couple and a toddler. Glad I got 6.2L

GG price matched Amazon online and got it delivered by Uber in less than 20mins!

Have made kale chips and homemade meatballs so far. All done super quickly and easily

  • How to avoid PFAs / anti stick stuff in these mini airfryers?

    Ceramic is the way right?

    • +1

I think you’re a little too worried about this stuff (ofc still be worried) but the stuff that’s really bad for you are the chemicals that they use in the production of non stick coating. The coating itself is long chained and is pretty much inert.

      • +1

yeah but the coating probably affected my some person in my household taking things out w metal possibly scraping it etc.

i remember there being like ceramic versions of these to address the no pfas crowd

        • +3

The ceramic coatings contains pfas as well. The ceramic name is very misleading as people assoaciate it with porcelain enameled cook ware which are totally different.

          • @[Deactivated]: ah, thanks for letting me know,

            which materials avoid pfas then?

            • +3

@AeymothSky: Stainless steel, glass, ceramic, porcelain enameled (but beware some brands may use lead paint).

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Man, lead paint ceramic coating takes me back to year 7.

No way they still use LEAD??

                • @AeymothSky: It's less common and the big brands like lecreuset etc definately don't use it anymore.

      • They really aren't, not at first use at least. Teflon pans have killed a bunch of birds that are very sensitive to the vapours, which is an easy google.

        • Yea completely true that teflon thermally decomposes, but only when you misuse the product, blasting it above its temperature range.

          • @Yer: Incorrect. It's a simple google away.

            • @Ademos: ahh youre one of those people

              • @Yer: Someone who's partners family has run an avian rescue non-profit for 30+ years? Yes, I'm one of those people.

The problem with being entirely book smart, is that you don't learn how the real world actually works.

                • @Ademos: So you've seen birds huff Teflon vapors? oh wait no you read that online somewhere

                  • @Yer: No, I've seen dead birds after people have brought home teflon pans and used them as normal. Not overheating to hundreds of degrees.

Seen them. Not read about it. Not played expert on the internet. Please just sit down at this point, and proceed to shut up.

That’s exactly why I’ve been holding off! I see Sunbeam sells one with mesh trays. I contacted CS who confirmed that they are stainless steel not aluminium. Waiting for it to go on sale.

      • so is stainless steel a good option too?

      • Which model are you referring to?

      • +1

Wish stainless steel baskets are the default standard for air fryers.

        • I forgot to mention in my og post that I own one of those bigger oven airfryers and yeah it's just like a stainless steel grate thingy basket.

    • +3

I got this Healthy Choice Airfryer with a glass basket (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/healthy-choice-6-5l-glass…) and it works amazingly. The basket height is slightly shorter than I would have liked, but otherwise very happy with my purchase.

      • It doesn't look like there is another basket inside like the Philips? How well does food cook? Does the food on the bottom become soggy and not crisp up?

The Philips has another internal basket and sits floating on top of the exterior basket. so the heat can circulate to the bottom of the food so the bottom and top cooks evenly and any fats moisture drains to the bottom basket keeping food nice and crispy.

        • The glass basket has a small wire basket where you place the food, that is raised above the glass. Allows any fats to not touch the bottom of food. Air does circulate under it but admittedly it's as good as the air that circulate on the other sides. Depending on the food, if you give the basket a shake or flip the food you're cooking, it solves the issue.

This photo from a review shows the wire basket (https://photos-eu.bazaarvoice.com/photo/2/cGhvdG86bXllci1hdX…)

          • @fallenstory: Thanks. I think I'll replace my Philips one with this. The glass basket is what I want.

    • We have a glass one. (From Harris Scarfe)

Make sure you never touch receipt paper 🙄

        reciept*

        • receipt* ? i before e except after c when the sound is like e

@MrFrugalSpend: fuk English is weird i got it wrong 😂

            it looked off for me

            • +1

@AeymothSky: Duo lingo is teaching me lots of languages are weird - at least most of our nouns aren't randomly assigned grammatical genders… even though they have words for neuter like die der and das in German… Even a male cat is referred to as a feminine word 'Die Katze', or like in French -e.g. le livre and la table… what makes a book male and a table female - wtf!?

    • Handwash. Don't put it in dishwasher. No sharp utensils when pulling food out of it. Don't use it forever. No different than how you'd treat a non-stick pan.

      • don't use it forever,

        so are there replacement baskets

or heck even buying this but using a different stainless teel basket?

        • Not much profit motive for that. Unfortunate, but just the way it is.

          • @heef: what would be a good amount of years till you just buy another one then??

are the coatings usually just on the basket that u can take out btw or is it also on the sides of the oven itself

  • This or the instant vortex 5.7l for $74

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/911952

    • 5.7 too big for me and no window so…. Phillips wins

  • +1

Does anyone know of any reliable air fryers with Stainless Steel Basket? All of the Philips ones seem to have Plastic Baskets with Teflon Non-stick coating which I am trying to avoid.

    • Just buy a separate silicone insert - They're around $12-15

    • +1

I use this one, it's pure glass and does a great job https://www.amazon.com.au/Glass-Digital-Fryer-1200W-Cleaning…

Trying to reduce PFAS non-sticks wherever possible

      • Not sure about the brand and reliability but definitely looks like a good option. Wish more brands used glass or stainless steel baskets instead of the crappy plastic

  • Go down to Kmart and get a silicone liner tray

  • Just wondering if anyone knows how does it compare to others at the same price?
