  • Aldi don't do themselves any favours when it comes to listing specifications for this on their website.

OP's brief list of key features runs rings around what they have published - maybe that is why there is stock remaining.

    • Aldi don't do themselves any favours when it comes to listing specifications for this on their website.

it's not just aldi. JB shows barely any info either.

  • On the Monster site they state 120W, and 2 year warranty.
Also, they have them in red & white. The red ones look interesting.
Shame it does not have a USB port to play music direct from flash drive.

    • Music from flash drive - is this the 1990s?

yeah might seem silly, but apparently flash drive or Aux in support can be a deal breaker for many people.

I don't get it either, you are buying a BT speaker to use BT wireless. not keep plugging your USB flash drive back and forth to add music. 😂

The YT video on the JB site shows a USB port?

        it's for charging a phone.

          it's for charging a phone.

They literally plug a 32GB USB stick into it.

@Nousernamehere: should check the user manual if you want that feature.

the one posted in deal is a very old model. can't find it on amazon.com anymore they only have these two now.

            $109 US https://www.amazon.com/Monster-Bluetooth-Intensive-Wireless-…

            $149 US https://www.amazon.com/Monster-Blaster-3-0-Bluetooth-Recharg…

@Nousernamehere: ok I noticed that small thing they are plugging is microSD so maybe it does have flash drive play.

idk about you but having a tough time finding any sort of info on the speaker in deal.

I assume the function is the same as the $109 monster because look same as in the video. uses BT 5.0 as well the same as shown on aldi page.

User manual for $109 monster: https://monsterproducts.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/MT…

            says:

            "SD Card Playback
When speaker is on and SD card is inserted, SD card is the
priority playback source. If you want to use Bluetooth function,
press the “①” Button to switch the source.

            AUX IN Playback
When speaker is on and audio source is inserted via AUX IN,
AUX IN is the priority playback source. If you want to use
Bluetooth function, press the “①” Button to switch the source.

            USB IN (Audio) Playback
When speaker is on and USB drive is inserted, USB IN (Audio)
is the priority playback source. If you want to use Bluetooth
function, press the “①” Button to switch the source.

            Playback Priority
The Bluetooth mode is the default playback mode, when there
are multiple audio sources, the playback priority is as follows:
            • SD Mode – first priority
            • AUX IN Mode – second priority
            • USB IN(AUDIO) Mode – third priority
            • Bluetooth Mode – fourth priority
            "

so yes I think deal speaker supports both USB drive and microSD play.

Thanks for telling me I should "check the user manual if you want that feature" when I simply time stamped a video that the OP listed as the model that ALDI is selling to try and help out OzyBe.

@Nousernamehere: yeah trying to help as well. actually I thought you were interested in the speaker which is why I recommended checking the user manual before you buy.

personally I always check first. tbh you shouldn't automatically believe what is done in a video translates to spec. often you will see youtube videos doing this, like plugging stuff in to demonstrate, when the device cant actually do it.

another example is a big Ultimate ears speaker, which only charges with laptop charging brick (it comes with). it has a micro USB port and videos will wrongly demonstrate it can be charged by USB by showing plugging in a cable.

                • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: I shouldn't have gone to bed, could have given you both all that info rather than wasting your time, sorry bout that.

                  • +1

@Chapp0: it's ok. good price for the speaker btw.

most speakers in $70~$100 range are smaller, and this monster is like 5 or 6 times the size for $129.

    • Also, they have them in red & white. The red ones look interesting.

are you looking at the Blaster 3.0? it's not the same product as OP, Blaster 3.0 is a more expensive model.
the aldi page says 60W power.

if you search amazon.com (US) you can find them all.

Just reading off the back of the I/O ports cover from the video since I can't find these specs anywhere else…

How about the Altec Lansing Soundrover 50 for $99 reduced by 40% @ Big W? Comes with tripod mount and mic.

Or this Aiwa one for $69.95 @ Jaycar

    • Looks good, that included tripod sets it off.

Can it be run off mains when the 6 hours battery life is at the low end?

      • hmm can probably still have it running while charging I suppose

    • Both look good, depends what you want it for I guess. I was keen on the Monster for its IP66 rating. The Big W one is getting a bit heavy, but the deal on the Jaycar one is pretty good.

      • yeah, jaycar says 60w compared to Big W which is only 50 and much heavier

My local Aldi had these on clearance for $69 so I picked myself up one as I've been in the market for a decent Bluetooth speaker for a few months.

I'll have a play around with it when I get home and let you know what I think…
