Why did I find reading the title so arousing?

I love plunging my long, timber shaft, deep into some mulch. Disappointed the intern at Amazon didn’t mark it as $10.69

Marketing team really wanted to go with:
Long Johnson Woody's Shaft Speared Deep

  • Doesnt ship in metro Melbourne?

    • I got it to eventually by changing the supplier, or thats the steps I think I took.

      • Thanks. Pressed some random buttons and it worked. weird bug

      • How do you do that, can't get it to work

        • A little below the "add to cart" button, there is a section that says "other sellers".

Press it and select add to cart for the $10 option.

          Works that way

          • @flylin: I tried that and still same error, thx though

  • Thanks op, got one

Sorry, Spear & Jackson Long Timber Shaft Deep Mulch Scoop can't be shipped to the address you selected. Please remove the item or select another address.

Any ideas on how to get around this? Apart from moving house! :)

    • Seems slightly random, have a Sydney metro addressed that worked the majority of the time, but a regional NSW address that only worked once or twice. Just keep clicking continue and see how it goes? Or find someone in a metro area to send it to?

How much mulch could a mulch scoop scoop if a mulch scoop could scoop mulch…

    • +1

If a mulch scoop could scoop mulch, a mulch scoop would scoop as much mulch as a mulch scoop could, if a mulch scoop could scoop mulch.
But since you asked seriously(ish)… here’s the breakdown:

A standard mulch scoop (from a front-end loader at landscape supply yards) is usually ¾ of a cubic metre, but some are a full 1 cubic metre.

      Now:
1 cubic metre of mulch = about 10–12 standard wheelbarrows
Weight varies, but dry mulch = ~300–400kg per scoop

So answer. A mulch scoop could scoop 0.75 to 1 cubic metre of mulch per scoop, or enough to cover ~10 m² at 100mm thickness, if a mulch scoop could scoop mulch.

      • A mulch scoop could scoop 0.75 to 1 cubic metre of mulch per scoop

Computer says no in real life. You can't get the scoop into a mulch pile to fill it with your assumption. Only a mulch fork can do it.

  • Does this stick shovel?

How exactly would they deliver this…

I need to find time on how to get this business thing setup :)

I've ordered one, but it will be interesting to see how it works.

I find that a mulch fork works much better than a shovel because twigs in the mulch go in all directions. This may vary depending on the type of mulch you have.

I've spread with the wife 3 truckloads of mulch dumped on the driveway with that Saxon fork (and Gorilla cart) all over the garden, at different times. Beats any shovel/spade any day, because you can't stab a shovel/spade in deep enough to grab a decent load.

These are more suited for moving wood chips, instead of tree lopper / forest mulch.

        • +1

When you're busy like us and take months to move it, the bottom half of the wood chips will have decomposed into mulch. You can get a fork into that mass much easier than this mulch scoop.

          • @ihbh: This will be perfect for the pile that has been sitting there for 2+ years.
