$355 if you have PCP and a $50 wine voucher, equating to ~1.3 cpp - not bad!

    • This applied in my case. Pretty happy with that

How do you get a $50 wine voucher?

    • -1

      PC

  • 6 bottles for $400 bucks - are these standard prices and exceptional wines?

    • You're more paying for the points than buying the wine

    • The wines are decent, but price is pretty standard - The real deal is the points as they essentially are worth more than the dollar value (at least for me). 1.53cpp.

    • I'm with you

90 odd points from Halliday Companion. Can't really go wrong.

Wine is probably worth anything from 200-300 if bought outside of Qantas Wine.

    • +1

It's the points you're getting it for, not the wine.

    • You're essentially getting the wine for free from the points value - The Blue Pyrenees Richardson Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is not a Qantas exclusive ($120/bottle from winery) and is highly rated.

      Tough neg.

      • +2

Arguably, over 70k points can be had for that sort of money. So the points are probably worth $200.

The way Qantas inflat their points. Value is questionable.

        • Agreed - Credit cards are always providing best points-per-dollar, but individual value is there if you want wine as well.

probably relabelled of their Section One Shiraz. sub $30 bottle.

Other one seems to be going for anything from 80-120.

Not a bad score from Halliday Companion (personally find them more spot on with their review than some paid ones).

    • This equates to being roughly halfway to an international business class flight plus you have some half decent wine to drink before you fly.

Clueless muppets downvoting you when you’re perfectly correct

Ah thanks. People buying this because it's good on a doller per point but when you consider the actual value, there are better wines on Qantas Wines with better points. Like if I say a business class ticket is $25k, that means your redemption is amazing but you're not ever paying that price so it's moot.

    • Are you new to Ozbargain wines?

There is a large amount of wines from wineries owned by CW Wines with highly inflated RRPs at amazing unheard of discounts. At least this winery has a website and can be bought through other channels.

Like I always say, take RRP (and scores) with a grain of salt and enjoy the wine and be satisfied at the price you paid for it. In this case, also enjoy the points.

      • +1

All wineries do. OzBargain's regular, Mr Hardy is always offloading wine at a deep discount from RRP.

    • +2

It's actually a decent wine. Probably not worth the price you pay, but coz of the points, you basically get "free" wine with your Qantas points. This also helps me out personally; I need to get 50k points by October to retain QPC.

I picked up 2 cases for the points and will of course drink the wine. Paid with a NAB qantas card and also went via a wine rep from qantas so they give a few extra points just by booking with them.

      • it was either 3k or 4k extra total…. I think 4k in the end. The rep mentioned it will take a few days before I see the extra points hit my account.

  • Wish they continue to sell the Coonawarra Trio. Still got a few cases bought from various retailers.

I remember first buying them at $30 a bottle and thought it was excellent value back in the days.

Will give this one a miss… just buy the wine for much cheaper else where to try it out. Well, the points are a bit pointless for me personally.
