  • Pretty sure this is ATL for this DAC here in Aus. Neat little device even if just being used as a USB DAC. The Bluetooth is the cherry on top if it fits your use case.

    • +1

What is the Bluetooth use case?

      • If you want a to use wired headphones, iems.

  • Absolutely love mine, I daily it on commutes.

Commbank mastercard actually takes a lower rate than paypal. Showed up as 121.7 for me

    • +2

Paid in USD using 28 Degree = $121.70

    • Any international conversion fee? I usually use ing because i assumed commbank has fees

      • Not with 28 degrees.

    • +2

Paypal never good rates. Always stick to your bank if there's no international fees.

I got the KA13 the other day for AUD$74.12 the other day, after coins and code. Thought it was a good price. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006045454559.html

  • Is it at all better than the BTR2 2021

  • If I am using WH1000xm2 or Technics AZ100 with my Pixel 7 Pro, and has LDAC support
    What would this do differently?

    • +1

Nothing unless you use it wired. You won't notice a difference over BT and with that gear

      • I did just order it, but might cancel it
Didn't think it would any benefit, and the LDAC quality is good for me

        • +2

This is for wired headphones. It's not for use with bluetooth headphones. You can't use it with your headphones.

    • BTR7 is only a bluetooth receiver for wired headphones or earphones. You won't be able to use it with wireless headphones. You want a DAP for that case instead.

Can confirm. Awesome kit for wired cans. Low impedance will drain the battery pretty hard though

Good price but very short battery.

Would try and source a Qudelix-5k if going for portable usage, overall a far better experience than the BTR7.

Additional features I found super useful on the Q5k are volume monitoring / wired mic in / simultaneous multi device BT + USB / configurable source priority and mixing, far easier EQ (squig.link integration)

The BTR7 gets about 4-5 hours (not enough for a work day) whereas the Qudelix 5K gets 9-10h of continuous playback over LDAC. I am personally using a BTR17 which gets me 6-7 Hours, which is just barely enough for a day.

I have owned all 3 of the above and a good amount of other BT DACs. Would even prefer Snowsky Retro Nano / BTR11 over the BTR7 for portable use due to abysmal runtimes.

This is a killer price for the BTR7 if using wired as a 4.4mm desktop source (w/ PEQ) where battery is a non-issue, would take this over a KA5 / KA15 pretty easily at same price.

      Qudelix is awesome

    • The Qudelix-5k never seems to go on sale though. I was wondering if I should just get the BTR7 but your comment made me think I should wait.

  • +1

Hmm already got the Qudelix 5k

  • +1

Got one, thanks. Had it in my AliExpress wishilist for an eternity and then I was briefly swayed by the newer BTR17 but as that costs double what the BTR7 is going for, I went with this.

  • +1

I think I'll stick with my fiio retro nano since it's a lot smaller and does the job well as a bluetooth DAC. Might as well just get a DAP for better battery life and wireless bluetooth headphones connection. JM21 is currently on sale at aliexpress, and if you stack coupons and cash back you can get it around 50% off MSRP.

  • From reviews, the inclusion of a dedicated play/pause button is good compared to some competitiors, but it seems like it doesn't have a power passthrough feature and the battery life is quite bad for how slowly it charges.

  • I am getting charged tax at checkout, and do not have an option to pay in $US.

What am I doing wrong please?

    • Click the flag icon near the top right of the navigation bar, you'll see a dropdown to select the currency there. The 10% tax is accounted for in the deal price.

Just remember this is a DAC and doesn't include an AMP component.
For anyone (like me) who uses or plans to use larger over ear cans or headphones that require a greater power leave to drive, you will still need a amp or combination unit.

    :)

This has two THX AAA-28 amplifier modules inside.

Power output at 16/32/300 ohms impedance from the 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balance outputs.

    • I was reading that this works well for Sennheiser HD 6XX headphones and similar.

Didn't really need the portable features, but hoping it will do the job nicely. Was going to go with the non portable IFi Zen Dac 3, but this is double the price, and while it would probably do a better job, it definitely does not look as good as the BTR7. Also the BTR7 display (I am hoping) will provide format playback information (and confirm that it is recognizing 24bit formats correctly).
