Gharr maties, to the high seas we return

Around $15, which is thankfully cheaper than the Aus rate at $25.99, but still not great

    • -4

      Aus rate at $25.99

      It's $7.99

If you want ads and 1080p res, sure

        • -3

i get one ad for about 30s before the show starts… big deal

          • @jv: Enjoy your missing content.

            • -3

              @Guybrush57:

              missing content

              like what ?

              • @jv: 100% of the content missing on the ad plan.

                • -1

@Guybrush57: You must be on a different one as I have access to everything I did before…

                  • +1

@jv: I am on the ad plan too and can confirm there are things that are not available on the ad-plan.. thought the difference in price is massive and the next up plan is too pricey "just for that missing content". This is what Netflix says about it:

In Australia, Netflix's ad-supported "Standard with ads" plan does not offer access to the full content library available on ad-free plans. A small percentage of titles, due to licensing agreements, are unavailable on the ad-supported plan. This means that while most content is accessible, some popular shows and movies might be missing.

The link below lists what is missing

                    • @Megatron:

The link below lists what is missing

                      "Captain Underpants Mega Blissmas"

                      Oh no !!!

            • +3

@Guybrush57: Ive never noticed any missing so it doesnt bother me. At the start i check what was missing and it was hardly anything worth worrying about or worth paying $17 extra per month.

          • +2

@jv: Exactly. Thats why i went to to this plan too. Hardly any adverts and a heap cheaper. No way is no adverts worth $26 a month.

You'd need a pretty good home theatre setup to take advantage of the $25.99 plan. The 1080p res ($18.99 plan) still looks great on 55-65 inch TVs.

      • 4k projector and 5.2.2 surround sound…

      • +6

Whats the point of getting 4k tv to watch 1080p content lol

        • The size of the TV and your viewing distance will determine whether you notice any significant difference between 4K and 1080p.

          • @ForkSnorter: I disagree.

The viewing distance determines the size of the TV.

The budget determines the TV resolution.

The TV resolution determines the content resolution.

        • +2

          Whats the point

these days you don't really get much choice

          • @beltdrive: Physical media kills streaming, but it's more $ and more hassle for sure

        • +4

Most shows arent in 4k on netflix though.

        • This is like what's the point to get a car that can easily hit 180km/hr but yet most drivers drive 10km/hr under speed limit. The main point is Netflix doesn't have enough new and good stuff to make the higher cost (4K) justifiable.. For new users, that probably good.

      • Hard nope bro

    Stremio..

    *laughs in eye patch*

    • -4

Nah, too much hassle to watch simply on multiple screens. $7.99 a month is cheap enough.

      • Streamio on each device.

        • +1

          If only it had profiles

  • +1

I haven't got that email yet, i downgraded to 2 screens lately because sharing was getting harder.

Do you know the price increase for 2 screens?

    Edit: Found it

If anyone's interested to see historical pricing (US) you can find that here. Some interesting stats when you see the price jumps each year.

    • Ahh, the good old days of paying USD 7.99 per month before it came to Aus. Using Getlfix to do quick DNS changes for other countries content.
Currently on Turkey, so paying about USD $7.50 per month now though.

      • Ahhhh, the good old days of DNS changes. Such simpler days. "Before the dark times… before the Netflix Empire".

  • PSA

Netflix gift cards are no longer being sold in Turkey. As a result any left over stock in the country is being sold with ridiculous service fees (40%+).

    Netflix Turkey is dead. RIP

    • damn went straight to my usual source turgame netflix gift card and yep looks like 35% service fee

      • Yep

      • G2A - 1000TL = $50.56
        380TL/month = $19.21/m

        Current Aus pricing is $25.99/m…

I mean, it's a discount, but it's no longer really worth it

        • Yep. It’s actually cheaper now in Aus with a 3 person Netflix family.

    • I got a 750 gift card from G2A, but I can't apply it, which is normal. I always use chat to apply it, however, chat has been unavailable for over a week now, so looks like I have a pointless gift card.

  • Netflix Turkey no longer working for me after all these years. Have always been paying with credit card and they've asked me to update it, which I now get an error.

  • +1

Something odd happening with Netflix just now. Am on Nigeria so not sure if it's my account being disabled or something else. Was watching this morning. had a break and now says something like account is no longer active. Anyone else having similar issues on Nigeria or Turkey or anywhere.

    • +1

Hey, I had a similar issue on Nigeria, they kicked me out and I had to setup my payment method again. After getting stuck for like 5 times because it keeps asking for a phone number (that I put in, but it says "Something went wrong"), I tried to intentionally put the wrong CVC and to my surprise, it actually went through, without any phone number check. I used the same card I've used since account creation (Revolut). Might be a fluke but give it a shot.

      • Same happened here, did you try to setup payment again using a VPN? If so, is there any you recommend that has Nigeria and ideally free?

        • I searched "nigeria vpn" on the play store and picked the first one lol. Definitely sketchy as hell but for this purpose it worked fine. And yes you need a vpn for it to show you nigerian prices. Good luck!

    • Thanks all. Seems like it's working for now. I used nigerian vpn but couldn't reset my password. At some stage it let me into my account without changing password and was able to restart the plan (used the same card details as before). After signing into the tv (visa code), i was able to change my password via my phone. Will update if it goes pear shaped.

  • Damn. You're very lucky. Stuck on payment method.

  • I did get an email from Netflix Turkey saying payment is now on my 28d card (was previously my husbands) which i didnt change and his card has the longer expiry. 289.99tl is ok if directly charged to the cc… But pribably cancel after the next price rise. Man, feel kinda bad that we keep ruining stuff for people who actually live in Turkey lol

  • Well I just woke up to a cancelled TR account. Awesome. Back to sailing the Seven Seas 24/7 again 🏴‍☠️

  • Tried with Netflix giftcard from Turgame, but won't redeem. Most likely my Turkey account has been cancelled after receiving a payment method update email overnight.

    • I have been using giftcards from Turgame for many months, I have never been able to redeem them. Others also have this issue, I get them redeemed via chat.
Chat no longer works, hasn't been functional in over two weeks.
