No way id go on a trip like that with a basic credit card policy. Always read the policy.
Any sort of adventurous activity or pre existing health condition will normally not be covered in a basic policy.

normally not be covered in a basic policy

        Most policies won't include it…

It will usually require extra cover, or some specialist insurance.

      • CBA, there is an option to add it as extra!

      • Depends. Mine covers up to 250cc for free, with option to add the adventure pack or whatever.

  • PDS .

It depends what country has issued your motorcycle license. If it's Australia then you can't legally ride a motorcycle in Vietnam and travel insurance won't cover you. If it's another country and they are a signatory to the 1968 Vienna Convention then you can ride legally (assuming you have an IDP from that country as well) and will need to check the travel insurance PDS as some only cover Australian licenses.

  • Some credit cards have options to upgrade your insurance level to cover motorcycles or scooters for the duration of your trip.

Else the major ones Allianz etc will all have policies/extras that permit this.

  • Make sure to read the PDS. Activities like this may be considered high risk with no or next to no insurance coverage.

    You are going solo too!

    • Safer than having a passenger on the bike.

Let's ask the Vietnamese Bikies 🥠

  • Don't think IDP issued in Australia is recognised in Vietnam.

  • You are not covered unless you are a Vietnamese Resident, as per FaKeBooK Travel Vietnam Groups and research as I want to ride 5 countries starting there. But now, I won't be riding there.
