The 7000 model is lighter than the 5000, offers different temperature modes and has the 'keep warm' feature, and that's about it.
Are these cool touch, or can you burn your hands on them?
Yes
Did you click the link? It would've been quicker to see that demonstrated in a picture than type the question and hope someone does this for you.
I did click the link, but hadn't found the description only the images. Ok, so it's cool touch.
The image demonstrates it as well, showing a hands touching the side of the kettle to indicate that it's okay to touch when hot. It's literally also in the description too
And thanks to the double insulated layer, the exterior stays cool to the touch.
I haven't tried the Philips one yet but the Russell Hobbs one works well. The temp control function is handy but it beeps a lot, which can be a bit annoying.
Mine beeps even more. After a couple of year it started getting weird and needs to be "turned off and on again" a fair bit. Otherwise it's a great kettle.
Yes, it is (I have both). If you can handle Philipses lid.
What’s wrong with the lid?
Awkward to use.
Yep, was about to buy then took a closer look at the lid.
I guess the designer of that lid doesn't actually drink hot drinks, and the person who authorises kettle design was out on a tea break when it got sent to manufacture.
As Taiguile says the search continues…
I never thought about this until someone commented they dont like the plastic interior getting boiled each time. I wish i got this one instead of the Russel for that reason now.
Two issues with Phillips range
1. Water left for a while after boiling starts tasting metallic. The metal probably leaches.
2. Spout design sucks, doesn't pour properly and hot water splashes out when pouring into bottles.

Free mineral water
Is there any way of checking the water level of the kettle without opening the lid?
Daddy chill. Did you read my comment? I'm not asking about temperature level, I asked about water level.
No, it could be annoying for some (I don't mind though) the price to pay for it being fully stainless inside.
Thanks for the info, and not a passive aggressive response from others lol.
One day I will find the perfect kettle.
- digital temp display (not buttons on the base)
- water level indicator or transparent body
- not too heavy (glass is pretty but heavy)
- hinged lid
- looks good
I'm not too fussed about plastic touching the water… Maybe I should be.
The search continues.
I just got this one: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0DYDBTLRT
It's glass, but I've never once thought "this is a heavy kettle". (The water is way heavier).
It's also cheap.
@clownyfish: @clownyfish thanks for linking that
Have you had problems with the balance or spout when pouring?
@clownyfish: Thanks, bought the linked Amazon model, cheap but great. Temperature controls simple, colour LEDs are cool, lid is good, pours well.
Only draw back is that it's glass so not insulated and hot to touch, but also makes seeing water level simple.
Can recommend at $45.59.
Get the breville one, it is about $300 though. Otherwise, ticks all boxes.
We bought the Durapres kettle from Good Guys, exclusive to them.
It is a pop top lid, but the clear window on top is hinged slightly so you can fill it from the tap straight in if you want. We had to see this in store since the website has no descriptions lol, but I like the idea …
@dufflover: Looks great except for this dealbreaker:
Allow the Kettle to cool down first before re-filling again. Pouring cold water into the hot Kettle can cause material damage.
Downside of glass I suppose.
it has a silicone ring around the temperature rod at the bottom
Received my 7000 series kettle this week. Bought this series primarily for the stainless steel construction. Went with the 7000 series due to temp controls. My personal views on it:
(edited formatting for better readability)
I stand corrected. Happy to know to its not plastic
It has a small plastic lip at the lid though but it's really tiny and it is not submerged normally.
@Musiclover: You mean the locking bit? Yeah, that's fine. Just happy an option this close to perfect for a kettle exists. Only thing now is hoping that this will last
Is there temp control for in between 80-100 like 90 or 95? Wanting to get this for coffee making..
Selectable temps: 40, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100
Since we are posting reviews…
I bought mine around a month ago to avoid microplastic exposure.
It is quiet, powerful, keep warm function is nice. Temperature control is a must IMHO.
Currently, on Australian market, it is the best value non plastic temperature control kettle by a good margin. There is a very expensive Breville glass one, but IMHO Breville is a bit too much for a kettle price wise.
Lid operation could be annoying for some, but I don't mind.
what do you use the temp control for?
Probably to control the temp I'd say…
Why is that an important feature when you're boiling water?
@fredblogs: When you're brewing tea. For example - Optimal temp for green tea is around 75 degrees celcius, otherwise it'll become too bitter.
Multiple uses: 1. Different tea brewing temps 2. Good for instant coffee, for example, I am unable to drink boiling water, but when I do 60 or 70 degrees it is just right and I can drink it immediately 3. Medical uses (e.g. I need to do an eye compress or warm my feet when I have a cold without being burnt. 4. 90 degree is good for pour over coffee…
I am sure everyone has their own uses.
What is your sample list exactly of kettles you are comparing with, how much/little plastic to qualify? Big call to say by far in all the Aus market …
Get a Xiaomi Mijia Pro 2 from Aliexpress and call it a day.
Tempted, but I'm not keen on the idea of a 1800W appliance running via an AU plug adapter.
No need to use an adapter, just use the plug up side down.
Not keen on having a kettle that's only 1800W.
Does anyone know if they make 3 phase ones?
Which cloud server are you using?
If you are asking about Xiaomi app then you would need to change country to Mainland china to be able to add the kettle.
Temp control on a kettle is a real a game changer. I've had a Kitchenaid one for years and it's super convenient being able to choose various temps depending on need. Best kettle I've ever owned
yeh ive got the Kitchen aid one, works well. But have a look at all the plastic in it.
how much does it beep? im keen for temp control but my current anko kettle beats everything ive seen cause it doesnt make noise
Got mine today. Pours fine into a cup. To increase the flow i just popped the lid open and the water flow was increased, very straight forward. I mean its a kettle
Are there literally any cheaper temp control kettles out there?
Expired? $99 on both Amazon and Good Guys
Noice!
