GP Ultra AA and AAA Alkaline Batteries 4 Pack $0.99 @ Dick Smith (Save $4)

1130

AA http://dicksmith.com.au/product/S1090/gp-ultra-aa-alkaline-b…

AAA http://dicksmith.com.au/product/S1091/gp-ultra-aaa-alkaline-…

This makes it $9.90 for 40 batteries, haven't seen good prices on Alkalines like this for a while especially if you only need a few.

Not sure of Aldi's prices because we don't have them here but Bunnings is about $8.90 for 30.

Edit: it seems you can only order 5 packets online. Perhaps you can make multiple click and collect orders or just grab as many as you want in store.

wow, that's cheap although I don't like GP.

  • I put 5xAA and 2XAAA batteries for "click and collect", the item Subtotal was $6.93 which's correct, then the total amount became $11.88 with "Collection Fee $0.00"?

    • Looks like it includes Delivery Fee of $4.95?

      • Change the delivery method to Click and Collect at the checkout page.

    • Happens to me too, don't worry they don't charge you for picking it up. :P

  • can anyone vouch for a quality of these batteries? there have been some discount batteries I've gotten before and they weren't that great

    • What kind of discount batteries, no brand name one?

GP is big brand but duracell is better.

I vouch for Durabell batteries. They work well with my Shrap calculator. Not to mention my Panafonic remote control, my Toshliba radio, and my Sauny player. :) :) :)

        • Have used GP rechargeables without any problems. These should be good. 99c for alkaline is pretty good. Wanted to get the DS brand AAA's last week but it was postage only which killed the deal.

        • I don't touch Duracells anymore as I have had quite a few leak. I have seen similar reports elsewhere. Have never had an Energiser leak.

    • I have used GP in button cells but never anything else…I can vouch that there are no problems with their SR44 button cells

Do everyone a favour and buy some 8 pack glitter Eneloops for $20 instead.

    • +3

I love recharegable, sadly not suited to all applications.

    • +2

I have lots of Eneloops. But I have to keep a log on where they are as they are expensive. Giving my son's toy away without knowing there are Eneloops inside is a kick in the butt for me.

  • Thanks - in for some click & collect

picked up 13 pack AA and 5 pack AAA from NS :P

  • 5 of each at Sunshine plaza. still plenty left 2 hours ago. That should keep the toys running for a while. Too good.

  • +3

buy 3 packs at a time in store and pay by cash = further 2 cents saving

    • Use Entertainmentbook to get Woolies giftcard (5% off), then pay for this with gift card, further 5% discount.

I ordered 2 x AAA and 2 x AA for a total of $3.96 for click and collect then after i submit the order it tells me i owe $8.91

    • I called in to the local store and collected the batteries for a total of $3.96

  • Anyone know the shelf life for these batteries? 5-8 years?

    • Alkaline batteries usually have a shelf life of about 10 years, maybe someone who picked some up can tell you the date on them.

    • +1

My packs say best before Jan 2017.

    • +1

The batteries i just picked up AAA Jan 2017 AA Jul 2018

  • Thanks OP.
Love my eneloops but sometimes cbfd charging them.

Always good to have a backup!

  • No AA's in SYDNEY CBD store left.

    But plenty of AAA's left.

    I just checked.

  • thanks! just got some AAA's

  • cheers

  • Awesome post, picked up 8 packs each. Heaps of stock in Werribee plaza.

  • Bought the last ones in chadstone

  • ow is a better deal if you need 5 packs as you get an extra 4 and a flash light but not sure on the expiry date nor if kodak batteries are better or not then Gp?

  • +1

Awesome I mainly use eneloops for AA, but AAA I always seem to run out of alkalines

  • Is this available in store as well?

    • Yes, but call before you go

  • Yep

  • Thanks for this. Picked up a couple of packs of each (AA and AAA). Will prove useful.

  • Bought 3 packs AAA at Brookvale and they still have a lot.

  • Now only allowed x4 AAA packs online…10 mins ago could buy max 5

I picked mine up today. I ran the AA through my battery analyser and the results were interesting. At 500mA load with a cutoff of 1.1V, they outlasted all the batteries I tried:

    • Ikea AA
    • Energizer AA
    • Energizer Advanced AA
    • Varta AA (Bunnings)

I've uploaded the results here if anyone is interested:
    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3018117/Alkaline_AA_Test_21_Jan_201…

All the cells were new when I purchased them. The expiry dates and test dates are listed.

    I'll run a 100mA test next.

    • Ta champ, makes this a good buy then!

      • Yup, pretty happy with it!
I just completed the 100mA test, it finished last. Looks like the chemistry is designed for high-drain devices, like it says on the pack!

Measured capacity is 2.219Ah. The Energizer Advanced AA cell was 2.602Ah.

        https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3018117/Alkaline_AA_0.1A_Test_22_Ja…

        • Considering the $0.99/4 price and that (although they came last) they are not too far behind the other brands at 100mA I am still very happy with them. Cost vs capacity is still better than the Energizers (not sure about cost of the Varta & Ikeas).

    • The woman at Dick Smith tried to tell me that these were rubbish in high drain devices and that I should buy the Dick Smith brand Alkalines instead.

  • Expired. Back to $4.99 now

  • i went to pick up my batteries today and i was told they couldnt find my order, i wasked why not? they said cos after the sms notification, you have 24 hours to pick up the items.. wtf? did anyone else have this problem?? iv been at work and by the time i get home the store is close. wtf?!?!?
