Awesome, I just got my VIGI cert so this is well timed.

    They integrate with Omada now.

    • Bought a DVR, PoE+ switch, HDD and 4 cameras, under $500. Very decent for 5MP cameras

(The PoE+ DVR is overpriced, like $100+ extra for the 4port)

or $5000 when installed at my work. These installers must be making a killing.

Oh yeah, if you pay for professional cabling that's about right lol

  • Added multiple other models to description, even wifi models as low as $44

AFAIK these still work with a DVR as long as the DVR is on the same network as the WiFi, so you won't need a PoE+ switch or DVR.

  • Do these cameras support ONVIF?

    • According to Google, yes

As long as the DVR/NVR supports ONVIF too

      https://www.tp-link.com/au/support/faq/2898/

You can even setup a DVR server on a NAS and they'll be compatible with that

      • Excellent. So I can add them to Unifi Protect or Synology Surveillance station.

  • Can i just power this with a poe switch and record with sd card?

  • Note 3MP is basically the 4:3 version of 1080p (2048 x 1536 pixels), more than enough imo.

    TP-Link VIGI 3MP IR Turrent C430I(4mm) * 4 ($27 ea)
    TP-Link 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Ethernet Switch with 4-Port PoE+ * 1 ($23.25)

    Total: $131.25 for 4 cameras and a PoE+ switch

You'll just need SD cards or a DVR, a TP-Link branded DVR is $70 https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CQLHVJZL (plus HDD cost). Alternatively, you can set up a self-hosted DVR on a NAS but it's a bit tacky.

NOTE: This is the IR model, which means it hasn't got mini lights for full night vision like the others.

    • Also note the non-metal bodied turrets are designed for indoor/non-humid locations - the IP rating on the Amazon turret product pages is often incorrect. (The metal-cased C455 is the weatherproof version of the C450.)

For outdoor use, the domes and bullets typically have IP ratings and waterproof cable connectors, as mentioned on the VIGI product pages/specs.

  • Why is TP-Link releasing stuff under TP-Link, tapo and kasa????

Just release it all under same brand so we can use it together. What's their endgame,

    • +2

TP-Link is the brand. Tapo, Kasa and VIGI are the product lines.

The poor compatibility between the product lines is frustrating, but it's partly because they're targeted at different users.

Tapo is a residential product while VIGI is business grade and integrates with Omada.

Kasa is older than Tapo and will be replaced by it eventually. You can already add Kasa products to the Tapo app.
