eufy Security Solocam S220 (4-Pack) with Homebase 3 $749 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

560

Came across this yesterday at JB HIFI, States that the normal price is meant to be $799 and it has a $50 off sale, however the four pack is normally meant to be $1199. Wondering if they have mixed up the pricing of the 2 and 4 camera pack. comes with 4 cameras and a homebase 3 (Cameras are not compatible with a homebase 2)

They also currently have the 2 camera pack at $499 with a homebase 3.

Considering the homebase is normally around $350 full price seems like a good deal.

The cameras themselves on sale are $199.

  • What is the Homebase used for?

    • +1

Storage I believe, can install up to a 16TB SSD into it.

    • +1

Eufy uses the home base to connect to the camera or any devices you have may have (e.g. door sensors, door bell etc).

So the cameras wont directly sync to your Wifi network, they will connect only via the home base.

In case of the doorbell, the footage is also stored on the hub, not sure whether these cameras have SD slots or not. The image processing is also done on the hub.

Since most of the processing is done on the hub, and also due to some communication settings between the hub/cameras, it allows for longer battery life of the cameras (i.e. lesser re-charge frequency)

"they will only connect via the home base"

This is not completely true. Some of the cameras can connect to the home base via the home network.

        Lookup Multi-Bridge wifi settings.

        Source: I'm currently doing it.

        • Thanks for the correction. The cameras you are currently using directly without the hub are they battery powered?

          • @snickerz: Nah mine are wired in. Maybe that has something to do with it but I'm not across the range of the multi bridge feature offering.

What Homebase version is this set?

    • +6

Homebase 3, I wrote it twice haha

      • +1

Third times the charm they say! …

      • To be fair in the original post the specific model of Homebase was omitted. One would think Kanu got on early.

        • I didnt have it in the title but had written it twice in the description, I added it into the title after Kanu asked. Thanks Kanu666 for pointing it out it was missing from the title

          • -4

@Snaides: Not sure if you're aware but the revisions are all public. The first post did not include either mention of HB3.

            • +3

@Hinee: @Hinee the addition of homebase 3 into the description was done 56 minutes ago, his comment is 29 minutes ago. There is also another revision 28 minutes ago, where I added it to the title as well.

@Snaides: Come on boys, let's not fight over something as silly as this, Kanu was too lazy to read and that is that. Let's not hang him for it.

@itsmoe: I'm chill - just trying to educate a first time deal poster with an hour-old account that what they're saying is objectively incorrect and easily checked.

                  • +1

@Hinee: Thanks for looking out for me @Hinee but nothing I said was incorrect. It was written twice prior to the comment, and then three times after the comment.

        Sorry, misread the description.
I definitely saw that it is 3 for the set of 2 cameras. But did not notice re this set.
Also tried to find the info on JB site and no luck

      • Any idea what home base version this is?

  • +1

It's an ok price, but a bit more than I'd want to pay. Seems like there are other sellers flogging them off for similar prices, EG Retravision. I'd wait for a better deal unless you really want some now.

Best way to mount these cameras in a rental? Want them to get the solar power, but not have them sitting on top of the roof…

  • -1

Does anyone have these to confirm the solar power is enough without pulling them off to charge them?

    • The website stats that 3 hours of direct sunlight is enough to never take them down to charge.

      • +4

I know but companies always state things that arnt entirly true.
        Definitely some fine print.
Maybe better to just pay the big bucks for hardwired 24/7 recording.

        • I would always prefer to go hardwired over wireless when possible, but these are a good option for rentals. Take them off and take them with you when you move.

I have a Eufy 4K S330 with solar which doesnt get much direct sun. Only slightly in the afternoon.

It has been running for 81 days and is at 93% battery.
      1.9k detected events, 1.3k recorded.

The same camera that gets 0 sun is at 66% after 81 days. Similar events recorded.

  • Only 2k though :(

    They need to be 4k

  • any recommendations for which HDD for the homebase?

    • Doesn't really matter too much. But I am going with Samsung evo

      • I'm new to the security cam setup. How much data is it storing?

        • +1

Depends how many cameras, events and quality. But they are quite small files. I just downloaded a few and they were between 600kB to 1.5MB for 20-30 seconds. I just have a 128GB card in my Homebase and it has months of storage.

    • +3

Comes with 16gb internal - I've never even considered upgrading.

      • 16gb fills up within 2 days of continuous recording. Just got the floodlight from a previous deal, and it says 128gb recording at highest resolution lasts 7-8 days so go figure.

        • I figure: 128Gb/16Gb*2days = 16 days.

          • @peacenik: At mid to low setting.

And 16gb here needs to cover 4 cameras at lowest settings vs my example of 128gb for 1 camera at highest settings.

  • +1

Waiting for a S3 Pro deal.

    • Anyone know whats the difference?

  • Since storage is locally saved on hard drive, I assume these can't be used with your phone to receive motion detection alerts or watch live footage?
Anyone know if there are camera systems that have both these options?

    • Yes with the app you can receive notifications, view live footage and saved events.

    • These can do both

      • Damn wtf that's great. I have the eufy 2c wireless 1080p currently, and it misses a lot of motion events.
This deal seems pretty good, thanks.

        • Huh - these features are all on the 2C as well.

          • @Hinee: Yeah sorry I thought this model was wired.
I was searching for a wired model that also works with phone for live footage and saved events, unsure if this is possible.

        • What model?
You can tweak motion sensitivity and with certain models their AI so that they do and do not trigger on certain events and levels of motion.
Edit: should read better, eufy 2c

  • have a single s220, solar panel died after 6 months

    • I have a Google nest and the battery doesn't last as long as it used to. But I'm renting so don't want to install a full wired system. Sucks hard!

    • have you sent it back under warranty? if so, were they easy to deal with?

      • +1

i bought it though Telstra and trying to deal with them first, its been painful….

        • +1

Hmmmm …. more Telstra thing I think. I got a wireless modem through them at a retail store but because I used my ABN when the modem cr@pped out I had to take it back to a business store. Of course, there's less of them and not on the same sites as retail.

I recently bought a similar model, the S330. it's a solid product, no issues there.
To save power, it relies entirely on IR to detect objects before activating the camera for analysis. But the IR range is pretty limited. just a few meters, around 4m max from my experience and the test, even though the manual says up to 8m. just for your reference.

    • interesting …. I guess it depends if you just want to see whats happening close to your house or whats happening in the street.

  • I am with Ring and paying $150/ yr for cloud. Do you recommend EUFY?

    • some on OzBargain avoid subscriptions! Eufy is stand alone afaik.

  • +1

Just purchased eufyCam S330 4-Cam Bundle from Amazon for ~$870 AUD whilst in US.. the same goes for $1167 on Amazon AU :'(

  • What range distance can the homebase 3 manage with the cameras ? Any range extender if camera doesnt reach ? *wondering if it would reach a back shed * which can act as a faraday cage in itself

    • I'm not sure if the cameras connect directly to the HomeBase3 or to my router. If they're connected to the HomeBase3, the farthest one is about 16m away. If they go through the router first, then the distance is closer to 25m.

  • Thanks OP, I ended up cancelling and getting the S3 Pro 4K colour Night vision pack with Homebase 3 as they didn't have stock at my local JB: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/eufy-s3-pro-security-came…

  • I’m wondering if this works with Apple HomeKit yet? Does anyone know? Specifically the Homebase 3
