Extra 15% on The Buy-Back Value for Pre-Loved Furniture @ IKEA (Membership Required)

120

Is this another sign of IKEA clawing back good deals?

The Buyback extra promo is on but this time only an extra 15% compared to the 50% of previous deals.

How does buy-back work?

Click through to the buy-back estimate form to tell us a bit about what you'd like to re-sell.

Bring your assembled furniture and price estimate into the Exchanges & Returns section of your local IKEA store, located near the exit.

Co-workers in-store will then finalise your buy-back and give you the refund card.

I tried returning furniture last time which is extra 50% at IKEA Springvale and found it to be a waste of time and effort.
I brought back a coffee table and a kids' table/chair set.
But both items were rejected in-store because they weren't in good enough condition for resale.

      Similar experience

    • Really is. The manager was involved and said i cannot pay more, it ìs used. If it is new condition i will pay more. How funny.

    • Yeah had one of the assessors at Springvale store adjusted the value based on a tiny superficial dust stain on the surface of my besta cabinet. They also cited 1 of the 2 plastic stops behind the cabinet is missing. So I walked over to the spares box at the counter and put one on and wiped dust of it. It was just petty shit and an overall crap experience.

  • I have had a really good experience at Tempe. They bought back all my stuff. It was a bit of a wait, but less of a wait than dealing with people on FB marketplace to sell it. Id do it again. 50% was awesome, 15% still decent

    • When will be the next 50% extra event?

Hopefully this 15% promo is not a sign of the 50% promos ending!

    • Second this! Great experience with Tempe when it was 50%.

  • I have a wardrobe. It's in good condition but they want me to bring as assembled. Flat pack is not accepted. I'll be paying half of the return amount on trailer or ute as I don't own any and if they reject it, it's total waste of money.
    Guess, no point in returning.

    • You can assemble it back when you're there.

      • Lol. Right but that will take time. And doing it there, na I'll keep it and sell it on FB marketplace when done with it.

They only give you the value in IKEA gift cards. Unless you try and resell the gift card for cash otherwise your stuck having to respond it inside IKEA. It's a win win for IKEA.

So good years ago when they had extra 100%. If in pristine condition, it basically meant selling back at full RRP. Sold back some chairs at a higher price than I bought them due to Ikea's price increases. Also sold back some free Ikea furniture I got off gumtree.

You just need to be realistic about the condition of your furniture… and hopefully get a nice Ikea employee who isn't fussy.

  • Wasn’t it 50% in the past? A drop to 15% is a massive no-no.

    • yes, I mentioned this

We took back a kids table and chair set to Springvale a few days ago. It had been used well for a few years, but no damage and most of the drawings washed off. It was assessed in store at a higher value than the online estimate so we got more than half the purchase price back. Was quite satisfied with the experience and it was much easier than selling on FB or the like.
