  • Thought the weight was for the laptop at first sight.
Then searched for the spec - it's 1.7kg. Not Lite in my book :(

    • +1

It's the name of their recent Aspire models. It's average for a 16" laptop.

        • +10

16" is OK for home users.

            • +16

@Jackson: Yes. But a desktop needs a monitor, keyboard, mouse, takes a lot of space, can't be used anywhere in the house or be taken outside when needed.

          • @shxhshzhz: Home or smart users ;) Carry once, use many times with more comfortable screen size. When I attach 2* 4K 69 -81cm screens, I don't want to work on <40cm diagonal screen on the laptop.

Yes, thin and lite large screen laptops are FANTASTIC for some people who wear glasses !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Great price for V10

    • Dyson are offering the G1 mop with a V8.

If they make it a V10 with the mop, it will be an instant buy for me.

      Hopefully soon …..

  • I am currently using an Acer Ryzen 7 laptop, which performs great. However, what bugs me is upon connection of the USB-C power adapter, the device sounds a high-pitched sound reminiscent of a 1995-era piezo tone (similar sound has holding your shift key for a while). I have not been able to disable this bloody sound as it's no where to be found in the Sound settings…

Sounds like a hardware defect causing coil whine, try get it replaced if in warranty.

    • Could be a dud unit, either some shielding has failed or a part has malfunctioned

    • I would suggest having a look in the BIOS if you haven't already. I have a feeling there may be a way of adjusting or disabling this in there (assuming that the sound is an actual feature and not as a result of a hardware fault)

      • I think it is a feature, anyone with an Acer laptop please confirm :)

        • I have an Acer laptop about a year old and it doesn't make any sound when plugging in (or unplugging for that matter) the power adapter, however it's not USB-C powered if that makes any difference.

    • You mean it sounds like one of those PC case speakers from the 90s?

    • +2

      Harvey Norman tech here.
I can confirm it is an Acer feature for all the models. No way to turn it off from either windows or BIOS.

How does the Dyson v10 compare to the one in my Lamborghini Huracan?

    • +18

      It sucks

  • +2

Looks like a good deal, personally I avoid Acer laptops due to previous bad experience with support and build quality

    • -4

same, and I wouldn't buy i5 processor again - only disappointing experiences with these.

      • What do you recommend instead of i5

        • Ryzen

        • Ive only had good experiences with i7

A 10-cylinder vacuum cleaner must be really loud.

  • Can we upgrade storage to 1T in this laptop? how to find type of SSD that I can buy and install on it ?

I purchased this laptop from HN last week (6 days ago) for $698, and it's now selling it for $598. Could I ask them to refund the $100 difference?

    • +1

Try it. They refund the difference with other stores so they might match their own price.

How do I request a Price Match?
Simply present proof of the competitor’s advertised price for the identical product, either at the time of purchase or within 7 days after your purchase.

Once your price match request is verified and the competitor’s product is confirmed as being in stock and available for immediate sale using the same payment method (and same term, if purchasing with an Interest Free Plan), we will happily match the price or refund the difference to you.

    • Same here. I will email them and ask and keep us posted.

    • +4

within 1 week you are entitled to a price guarantee

    • Any thoughts on your new laptop like;
      How's the screen?
Or the build quality and hinges?
      Performance?

      • +3

Honestly, I was surprised by how light this laptop is, especially considering it's a 16-inch model — I didn’t expect it to be this portable. It’s definitely fast enough for day-to-day tasks like office work, admin, reporting, and browsing. I regularly use it for report writing with Office 365 and other web-based apps, and it handles everything smoothly. The screen is wide, clear, and good quality. To be honest, I actually prefer this over my other laptop, the Surface Studio 14", mainly because of the screen, number of ports, and surprisingly, the weight. The build quality feels average but perfectly acceptable. This is my third Acer laptop in the past seven years, and I can say they’ve definitely improved the hinge design — the new Lite 16 comes with a single long hinge, unlike the two short ones my older models had. Plus, it's one of the few laptops left that's still upgradeable — you can easily add another 16GB of RAM for about $30-40 and bump it up to 32GB. My honest opinion? Buy it with confidence — it’s fantastic value for money.

It's a one day only deal. Officeworks model only has 8GB RAM

      • +1

my bad I missed the most obvious specs. great deal. thanks for posting

    • +1

Note for those reading the review: It is for the 8GB RAM i3 model with a TFT screen

Year is not important for Windows laptops. It will be supported as long as Windows 11 is supported.

  • I could not see in the specs for the Acer if the keyboard is backlit, can someone please let me know? Thank you

    • Ok, saw in the above review that there is no backlit keyboard. Thanks for posting the review.

  • Does anyone know the battery capacity?

    • From the video linked above by Coolkid21, you can just make out the battery specs as 11.4v, 5100mAh and 58.14Wh.

  • from OW link (which has 8GB RAM) battery life up to 8 hours, and I think its decent

  • I have not read all the comments yet, but was wondering if this has a backlit keyboard ?

Can you charge this laptop via USB C PD ?
