My 4 year old Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 recently had one of its hinges fall off, and when the repair guy tried to glue it back on, he unfortunately made a small crack in the bottom of the screen, and also broke the touch functionality (which we are quite dependent on haiyaa). He has offered to replace the entire screen for $250, but dunno if its worth putting that into a 4 year old laptop?
General everyday use, no gaming, watching some sports… budget ideally less than $1K. Might not be possible tho lol
Anyways, the laptop still works fine, just quite annoying when you're used to a touch screen.
I think it has pretty good specs still, and runs well:
- 1080p IPS, 250 nits
- 16GB/256GB SSD
- Ryzen 5 4500U with Radeon Graphics, 2.38GHz
- 65W battery, USB C charging
Also bad timing as this literally happened 1 July, day after EOFY sales ended…
So, looking at potentially getting something new, but as similar as what I'm coming from as possible.
Wouldn't mind at least 300 nits tbh, and would an OLED screen be worthwhile for a 14" device?

Based on not knowing what you use it for, nor your budget, default answer is Surface Pro (900 nits HDR, 600 nits SDR).
