[TAS] Hobart to Japan (Haneda) Return $1004 (Depart Selected Dates in Sep 2025) @ Qantas

1150

A deal for my fellow Hobartians looking for cheap and direct (via Sydney) flights to Japan during peak season.

If you select your departure from between the 1st of Sep to the 4th of Sep, or the 8th and 9th of Sep and you'll find the total cost of flights for $1004 https://i.imgur.com/xJKo00e.png
Not sure why it's cheaper to fly from Hobart. I checked Melbourne and Sydney and the prices for the same time are around $1200-1400.

This may not be a great price for mainlanders, but Tasmanians generally need to pay an extra $100-200 just to get to Melb/Sydney to travel internationally.

As of 13/7 this deal is still current but only valid if you depart from the 3rd, 4th, 8th or 9th of September.

Is September still unbearable in Tokyo in terms of the weather?

    • +4

It’s fine. Source- former Tokyo resident.

It depends on which end of September and also your definition of unbearable.

What’s unbearable? Japan is fine all year round

      • +11

        Nah, summer is unbearable.

I hiked Fuji in August, if you are from Australia mid 30s days are nothing new

@UberIsCool: I just got back from Japan today and I have to agree, though I live in Darwin where it is pretty similar temps year round. It was humid, but way less than I was expecting, and the UV in Japan wasn't as extreme as here which made outdoor activities more enjoyable.

I was in tokyo 22nd Sept last year temps around 23,22 .

    • Can be a bit of a mixed bag. can hit high 20's/low 30's but humid so yeah to me it is absolutely unbearable if you get some of the hot humid days and september is a wet month. If you are lucky and it is the low 20's it is great month to visit.

I was there in September 2 years ago and it was really humid. Most of our trip was fine but walking around Tokyo where there is no breeze due to all the high rises wasn’t the funnest experience.

Have to echo this for Osaka in July, everywhere I went felt like an oven as it was either open and exposed or then in the streets between tall buildings - it felt like there were barely any trees there aside from the castle park. I love hot weather so it didn’t bother me but it was definitely something to contend with. Out in nature it would’ve been fine.

    • Tokyo from early-mid October was doable but hot and extremely humid some nights

Up vote for a Tasmania deal!

There are so many (excl. TAS) posts that sometimes I feel like we might need our own OzBargain.

    • +7

      TasBargain lets go!

Only downside It'll be exclusively Shiploads and maybe an occasional $49 flight to Melbourne.

      • and Spirit fare sales

  • was there in first half of September in 2017. Tokyo was alright but pretty hot in Kyoto that I had to use an umbrella

  • Isn't the September the worst time to go Japan as an Aussie, as it is unbearably hot and humid not the weather we used to.

    • Had mixed responses based on research + the convos above.

I'll report back when I return, if the heat doesn't kill me.
