It'll be $1820 with those codes? XMASJULY25 $100 + JULY2025 $120. Still too much to spend just to play computer games imo, LoL

    • Yes I agree. Comes to $100 each in the checkout for some reason

    • +1

Both max out at 100 when used together for some reason.

I was at Centercom Richmond IRL earlier and asked for price match, best they could do was 1879 in store.

Can't pickup if I order on ebay either, the store manager just told me to let them ship it to me…

I am planning on mounting the Galax 5070 cooler to this to make it 240mm 2 slot for a 4L case. PCB layout checks out and everything. Someone already did it with the 5080 Inno3D X3 and the 5070 Inno3D X2.

      • +1

just checked, it's because the xmas codes puts it under $2k

    • damn it was like the price I paid for the 5070 TI on launch day.

  • Just hope this is the new price

    • +3

Just hope 1500 is new price. But nvidia.

  • It does not look like it will fit the Louqe Ghost S1. Only current gen that will fit seem to be the Inno3D 5070 ti.

    • +1

The Inno3D 5080 X3, non OC fits too, but the ghost s1 specifically is super outdated now and there are smaller volume cases that fit 3 slot GPU, 2 extra case fans, more cpu cooling and a bunch of other nifty stuff (like the zs-a4 lineup or formula x1 / aklla / feipu / shinysnake etc.)

Afromentioned cases (except the $40 budget feipu and shinysnake) also have outright significant improvements compared to the Ghost S1 in build quality and QC tolerance, OG Ghost S1 used steel with meh panel fitment and machining vs 3-4mm 6061 Aluminum on the ZS and Formula cases.

How is this not ridiculous? I am trying to understand.

Why not just get a ps5 or switch or Xbox and call it a day?

    • +14

This is somewhere around 2.5x the speed of a PS5 gpu and will run 1440p480 / 4k240 for gaming whereas the Xbox and ps5 cannot run half of that.

You also get the funny side effect of being able to do productivity on this, the 5080 is one of the fastest video editing and CUDA rendering cards on the market, double digits ahead ahead of the recent $4100aud RTX Pro Blackwell 4500 workstation.

Main issue for productivity is just lack of VRAM, 24gb model should come soon-ish.

      • Can you show me where it can do 4K/240?

        • +7

The 5080 can easily do 240fps+ at 4K in competitive games:

          • +2

@deadpoet: And with DLSS and MFG it can do it in some more demanding games aswell.

          • @deadpoet: Who's playing comp games at 4k lol

            • +1

@JerraJones: Anyone with a 4K240 QD-OLED without the half res 480hz mode on the LG panels?

Plenty of large sales (<1k) for those recently, and people playing mixed titles and not only comp would much prefer those over 1440p480 / 1440p360 due to the much higher PPI and sharpness.

What are you going to do, get a entire second 240hz+ monitor and swap it onto the desk when playing comp when the main 4k panel can already do 240hz?
Or run lower resolution and you can barely see anything due to non-integer scaling blurriness.

The sane option would be just to run native because a 5070ti/5080 class card is perfectly able to do 240fps+ at 4K for comp titles.

Because it’s something different and more powerful.
It’s a long-winded explanation why gaming on computers is different from gaming consoles, so I’m not the best person to ask.
I’d encourage you to do your own research outside OzBargain if you can to find the reasons as to why we spend ungodly amounts on GPUs instead of buying a PS5 Pro and calling it a day.

      • I'm asking here because I can't be bothered doing my own research though.

    • +4

Short answer, it's not just for low end stoner gaming.

  • +4

Exactly. Nvidia are killing the PC market

Got this card for $2049 very happy with it

A warning about Australian customer support from Galax for anyone considering buying: https://old.reddit.com/r/bapcsalesaustralia/comments/1le5c11…

    • +1

But you deal with Centrecom for warranty anyways? ACL ftw!

      • If you ever need customer support short of a return/RMA, expect no communication at all from Galax. In my case I had issues that could have been resolved short of sending the card back and couldn't afford to be without it completely. Every other PC company I've dealt with has been happy to find solutions in these cases. Galax did not even respond once. You can see once they got called out in the comments they also stopped responding there.

        • +1

I was reading through some of the comments from the person (GlitteringCustard570) and someone asked if he tried going through acl. His response was that he didn't have enough time to do that. That doesnt really add up because he mentions he spent 2 years chasing them up. So he had enough time trying to contact them through various channels for 2 years but didn't have time to go throught acl? Not calling him a liar, but I feel like some information is missing.

          • +1

@Notatightass: Tends to be the case with overly vocal whingers, they spend more time bitching about it than actually trying to get it resolved. The fact they list "Facebook Marketing Posts" as an communications avenue says a lot too, you're never going to get anywhere that way.

still sounds like too much to spend on a video card
