Was doing research on dash cameras can narrowed it down to this being the best value for money.
Definitely not the cheapest it has been but I believe cheapest on amazon.
Still need the hk4 and viofo brand sd card.
But after watching 100 videos this was the best quality.
I was waiting for 329s but its not a massive difference this will suffice.

My friend bought 3 Ch A229 pro 4k last time from viofo' Australian website in $430.

    • I know i just pay the extra for amazon return policy.
Ive had stuff over a year old and amazon returned it for a full refund effortlessly.

      • Viofo's Australia is Australian website of that product and they follow the Australian consumer law standards.

        • Noted
But if ive ever had any issue with any product amazon has just refunded for return. Simple easy no stress return.
Some things they dont even ask for return just straight refund.

          • @blitzn: until one day, they lock your account.

            • @jv: Lock my account?
If they approve the return thats not my issue im not returning used products just faulty stuff

              • @blitzn:

If they approve the return thats not my issue

The can still lock your account if you return too many items… and nothing you can do about it.

Read all the threads about it…

                • @jv: I have before most are in the US.
But ive been with prime since day one in aus and i cant tell you the amount of products i have had refunded or returned for various reasons mostly as per their policy.
The reason amazon is so successful is due to their no stress returns policy.

  • got this off AliExpress for $250 last month.. no deal

    • Pro or Plus?

    • 250 USD sure

  • Overheating issues…beware

    • Mixed reviews on this
Most say its because of not using the viofo brand sd cards

      • Have known a few people and personally mine given up the ghost, but general consensus at DashCamTalk is that it does overheat. Only with a firmware update was a message saying that it was overheating was added, then it shuts down.

        A329 does not for reference.

I was waiting for the a329s but didnt come to amazon yet.
Have to buy from aliexpress and i prefer amazon.

          • @blitzn: I have the A329T and it's been rock solid so far. A329 was ok but A329 steps it up to what it should have been.

            • @adrianhughes1998: Im looking at the a329s now sacked the a229 pro lol.
But i need the hk6 hardwire which isnt available yet unfortunately so need to wait to install.
Whats the difference between the t and s

              • @blitzn: The HK6 definitely good for the new low power hybrid parking modes so I'd wait.

T swaps out the interior camera for a Telephoto camera. I swear by it over interior

It’s not that bad, and it depends on sd card, temps of where you live and how you use the car - if it does unfortunately overheat (and after testing all possible factors & warranty) then you can always switch to a lower resolution.

      • Bad enough in Aussie heat, that it constantly just kept turning off due to overheating. My A329 never turned off due to overheating, or my Vantrue units either.

Definitely an issue with the A229 Pro that fortunately was rectified with the A329 series.

        • -1

I’ve had the A229 Pro almost 1.5years now, never had an overheating message, but did get a sd card slow message 2-3 times on one of the hot Sydney days earlier this year - never happened again after that week.

I’m not saying overheating doesn’t happen on the A229 Pro, but you mention this on every A229 Pro related post with no context, and your experience does not equal others - many factors can be at play, e.g you’re in Perth, I’m in Sydney.

          • @idd: There has been many reports on dashcamtalk and other places like Reddit.

It's something to be aware of for potential A229 Pro users, and of course my experience doesn't equal others experiences across the board.

It has an older Chipset too and less ventilation grilles than the A329/S series etc. Just other factors that factor into it's poor heat dissipation.

I could go on even further, about how I've heat tested all the Viofo models over the last few years, and most of the Vantrue and 70mai models too and they act better than the A229 Pro. I'm informing users about potential issues rather than them potentially being misled about potential issues.

            • @adrianhughes1998: I’m not disagreeing about you having the issue or your reason for overheating, all I’m saying is context is important - the A329 lineup, as of now is almost double the price, so for me, I have no need to upgrade due to overheating.

The comment below about overheating in parking mode might not be a “Lol wrong” either, his driving/parking situation is different to you.

              • @idd: Gotta love these armchair experts lol.

You might want to read again. He said 'only' if you use parking features.

                • -1

@adrianhughes1998: I read it as, it only overheats when he’s using parking mode - meaning the car is parked and therefore using parking features. So if he has to park in the hot sun for long periods, why can’t it overheat?

I’m going to leave it at that, have a good one.

                  • @idd: It read as him saying it only overheats in parking mode, not that it can't overheat in other scenarios.

I have plenty of Viofo models to choose from right next to me, and with Vantrue, Wolfbox and 70mai too, and do pre release testing for them all.

I shall leave it at that.

    • Yes, it overheats only if you use parking feature.

Bought this for $386 3 weeks ago directly from viofo.

  • A229 Pro vs Vantrue N4 Pro?

    • Try A329 2Ch

      • no discounts on A329 :(

        • Keep an eye on aliexpress.

        • $639.99 from viofo au currently

          • @blitzn: Budget is $500

            • @plal: Fair enough
I would get the a229 pro then
As the cost of sd card and hardwire kit will take you over 700. Plus have to wait for the hk6 to be released for a329s.
A229 pro would be better suited for you

              • @blitzn: Lots of pple complaining about overheating issues so kinda hesitant to buy the A229 Pro..

                • @plal: After all the reading i would use the sandisk max endurance 256gb is $69 on amazon and you should be fine.
A229 pro off amazon if you have issues they will happily do a refund for return.
So its not a big risk you wont lose money just time if it over heats

                  • @blitzn: Thanks, purchased using 5% off deal.
I already have a spare Samsung Pro Endurance 256GB SD card, reckon same performance compared to the Sandisk?

                    • @plal: You already have it so i guess its worth a try

  • Thanks OP

  • Decent deal, I paid about $300 recently on Ali for the A229 Plus 2ch. Very happy with the cameras & great install by Dash Cam Specialists in Brisbane.

  • but I believe cheapest on amazon

    is it cheaper elsewhere?

  • Any thoughts on this for around $100 less? https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0D7HQK26P/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0…

      Has good reviews
But rear is 1080 and viofo is 2k rear

    • has a lithium ion battery rather than capacitor, apparently not great in heat.

      • ahh ok cheers

  • Just ordered then tried to cancel 1 hour later but was declined. Let's just hope this reported overheating issue doesn't apply

    • I ordered and cancelled after an hour it allowed me to do so.
      Was it shipped already?
I changed my mind and am getting the a329s. I want the a329t but too many cameras in the front i think.
But also have to wait for hk6 hardwire kit

      • I guess it must've because I got an email saying can't cancel and to do a returns. Which I tried to do today but is charging me $7 to return in. Bloody

        • Use the not compatible option it wont charge you for return
