[Pre Order] Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 512GB $0 / Fold7 512GB $999 with Optus $69/M 24-Month Plan (in-Store Only) @ Harvey Norman

770

every year harvey norman does this deal, CIS has changed so if customer cancels within 120 days, they have to pay half of remaining ($828 + $500)

Cancel method would be stay on for 4 months and cancel as $69x4 + $69/2x20 will work out to be like $966 all up for flip 7 and $1965 for fold 7.

i prefer to stay on for at least 12 months as i do make use of the data.

remember its advertised instore only

Quick tip - complain to Optus live chat you have bad coverage (even if you don't - (profanity) em), they will give you 50% off your SIM plan (69 x 0.5 = $34.5) for 12 months.

    • +2

that is gold, i'm going to try this

    • +2

Been with them for like 30 mins now. They’ll send my case to experts to investigate further, thought it’d be much easier lol

      • +1

Yeah you should've gone through complaint forms directly, you can fill it out yourself online and someone directly from the complaints team will contact you.

        • Did u try it?

          • +2

@Sr1993e: Nah, i used to work at optus, this is the best way to get an outcome ( in my opinion) as live chat is always hit or miss.

    • +18

Seems unethical unless you really do have coverage issues, in which case you should switch to another provider.

      • +8

Nah considering the company in question is Optus not one bit. These greedy asses leech of us and make them richer day by day. Its okay if they become little less richer.

        • +2

I live in Australia. Best country in the world. Where people are judged on their character and act ethically and respectfully because real Australians know what we have is is precious and the envy of the world.

          • +10

@zealmax: If only our data was treated so precious, by Optus…

        • +2

One thing i learnt the hard way is the universe is in balance. You try and dodge a charge , another unexpected charge shows up from nowhere. Karma really exists

        In this economy?

      • The area i live genuinely has terrible coverage inside my house with 1 bar signal most of the time with occasional 2 bars depending on which part of the house i am in..

    • +1

Don't even need to throw some profanity - just expressing 'genuine' disappointment and the threat of cancelling/switching to a different provider is enough for them to offer you a discount. Their customer retention policies are very aggressive.

    • Thanks for the tip, worked like Gold!

  • Ni they don't do it every year. This is the first time for the 7 series

  • +2

Fold 7 removed S Pen support :( and still has slow charging

    • Damn it, I was going to get a Fokd 7 but a pen is a must :(

      • +6

        Tell Samsung to get Fokd

  • +1

The fineprint on the deal says the remaining amount must be paid in full if it is cancelled. The first 120 days is just for the cost of the phone. Where did you get the half price remaining costs from?

  • +1

HardlyNormal has confirmed that the pre order bonus doesn’t stack if you’re signing up via the Optus deal

    • +1

i dont remember exactly which phone deal it was but there was a $69 per month deal from harvey norman and during that pre order period harvey norman threw in some sign up bonuses for a single day.

      • Storage Upgrade is included, not the gift card on optus plan

      • i found it - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16196245/redir

@HardlyNormal - Can you pretty please let us know if this happens again during the pre order period for the flip 7? pleeasee lol

        • +1

of course haha, but we are running 10 days of deals atm, im not sure they will do a gift card offer right now

  • +3

Real Australians don't buy from hardly normal.

    • are you blaming it on the Fake Australians?

      • +1

        You mean Tasmanian's?

        • +3

          Oi!

    • Yep, there are so many far more ethical retailers such as….. anyways, Samsung has a Fold 7 now, neat.

    • :(

  • Guys I have a question.

I am currently paying $69 per months for my optus phone internet plan.

This deal means I can get fold 7 for free ?

    • The Fold7 is about $999, but the Flip7 is no extra cost, I believe! Best to check in store, as the T&C's say this applies to "New sign ups on the $69 plan" - but this sounds like it should apply.

      • I dont have my plan directly with HN. I have it directly with Optus. What if i transfer my number to them? Or trasfer to some other provider and then transfer to HN.

        • It won't work, it's for new Optus customers. Not new Harvey Norman customers.
You have to be with another company to go back in to optus

  • The CIS is for the Gift Card voice plan, which has a $700 HN gift card for the $69/m Optus plan. Plus, there's a preorder bonus for the Flip7 for a $300 HN gift card.
Do you think that means up to $1000 of HN gift cards, alongside the other discounts?

    • No. The $700 HN is the basic and not applicable when there’s an upsize like this running alongside

      Its one or the other

  • Just to confirm if Im understanding this well, I signed up for a 24month contract $69 last year for the Flip6, does that mean I need to cancel and pay cancel fees for this one before I can sign up for this new Flip7 deal?

    • +2

yes, i signed up for the same deal as you, but i cancelled my plan about two months ago in anticipation to sign up again for this deal. i paid $550ish to cancel, ported out to felix for $12.50pm, now going to go to harvey and port up to this deal for a flip 7

      • Thanks! Thats good to know

  • Damn does this mean cancel method not ass good anymore?

Like buy phone, cancel with 1 month charge. And cancellation fee

Thinking of getting another s26 ultra next year

    • you just stay on for 4 months instead

      • Thanks man

Is that the way its heading?

Because then we have to pay extra 69*4

Rather than the old hack 69*1

        • yes

  • why not JB hifi deal isnt much more cheaper?

    • Flip 7 is cheaper with HN by $200+, JB do give you the Gift Card but you are still spending more money, gift card isn’t cash in your pocket
Fold 7 is the same cost either way

  • This one or JB Hifi? Not planning on cancelling the plan though.

    • +2

Good questions, it is either telstra (jb) or harvey (optus). I recommend visiting this website https://www.rfnsa.com.au
Putting in the addresses you would need mobile reception the most ie home or work. And seeing how many optus towers vs telstra towers are around your location. It would be better to choose the telco with more towers arpund you

    • +2

Optus is 100% cheaper, you are paying extra $1069 on the flip with Telstra, Extra $820 with the fold

  • Hey guys, is this port in only? Im currently on Optus prepaid and need to keep my number.

    • It is port in or new number.

Apparently there is a work around according to the guy I spoke to at HN but he said he can't tell me what it is.
I'm guessing get the new number and transfer your old number to the plan.

      • Hi, if i’m with Coles Mobile that uses Optus network, is it considered port in?

      • Cheers mate

      • I am on postpaid with Optus but without a plan. Still good?

  • Anyone can confirm if you can upgrade to the 1TB model for extra money?

    • +1

Called up and told I wasn't allowed to

      • Thanks. Shame, in the past you could pay more for the higher spec version

    • +2

Yes , I did 1 Tb version in store with this deal $1900 off with Optus $69x24m porting .

      • Thanks I will enquire tomorrow.

  • How good will the build quality of flip 7 be? I had flip 3 and the screen of the fold part became increasingly creasy and it started turning itself off randomly ..

    • i have the flip 6 for about a year now and it still going strong, even the inside screen protector is still good. apparently the flip 7 has dust resistance now for the first time

    • My Flip5 is doing great after two years, and I don't treat it particularly well.

  • +2

One time we got a plan like this from HN for an iPhone. They didn't port us to the plan so the iPhones were free. I kept thinking a bill would come, but never did.

  • Which is better for fold 7 JB or Optus? I'm happy just to go to whoever.

    • Copied and pasted from a similiar question above ;

  • i prefer to stay on for at least 12 months as i do make use of the data.

Can I ask why 12 months.

    • +1

I can get a new phone every year . I usually trade in the phone which covers the cancellation cost or i give to a family memeber. I started on the pixel 7 pro to the 8 pro to flip 6 and now flip 7. Harvey does the same $69 deal every year for the flagships from samsung and google. And this plan suits me as i need the data for travelling

  • I'm with Optus post-paid plan. Can I port to different providers and come back to Optus to get this deal on the same day? Or do I have to wait a certain number of days?

    • +1

I always port out for at least a month but previous deals ive read people just port for a day or two and then sign up no worries. Check ozbargain previous deals for $69 per month. YMMV

      • Thanks!

    • +2

My wife was with Optus post paid for years. We saw the deal for the iPhone 16 for $0 upfront for the $69 plan last month, so we ported her number out to a Felix Mobile esim at lunchtime and went into HN about an hour later and ported back in to get the deal. There's a rep who works at HN who occasionally comments on these threads and advised that there was no minimum time required for having been ported out before switching back. Seems they were right.

      • Thanks!

  • +1

I just saw an ads for this model, it seems like it's coming same time with the iPhone 17.

    • iPhone 17 is in typically in September unless Apple want an August launch.

  • Do you get a gift card with the Flip7 or not? HN website sucks.

    • +2

No GC with Optus Plan, only Outright

      • When does this offer expire?

        • 31st July

          • @HardlyNormal: where would termination after the 4months be paid to of $966? like would it be via the optus app or via HN?

            • @NJZ: Optus app, We are just a dealer

    • $300 gift card according to richmond vic staff if you sign up on the $69 plan for 24 mos

      • richmond vic staff is incorrect

        • I was fine not getting a gift card for this deal, but I got one? ($300)
          Flip 7 - 512gb - Black
          24 months $69 plan
          $0 upfront
I will be cancelling on day 121 but wtf just happened?

          • @Arcticfox: Lucky you!

            • @Craze: Not sure… I have a bad feeling I'm not signed up to the right deal or something and this is gonna come back and bite me in the ass.
Will have to get some confirmations from Harvey rep today…

              • @Arcticfox: Or could be the rep's mistake!

              • @Arcticfox: wow, which store did you sign up at?

                • @Shoppingbird: Darwin NT store.
Looks legit, someone further down got the deal twice at a Tasmania store with a gift card for each plan signed.
It makes this deal amazing value. I know it's not cash in the pocket, but I'm sure Harvey will have something I want eventually, so the savings will just be on the backend.

              • @Arcticfox: Sounds like you got the right plans, the staff member you dealt with must’ve not known that the gift card isnt included

                • @HardlyNormal: Have checked out my contract on the app and it shows:
                  - Remaining device repayments = $0
                  - Remaining accessories repayments = $0
                  - Outstanding charges = $500 (WTF)
                  - Termination fees = $793.50

I'm guessing the termination fee will halve after 120 days (minus my 4x$69 payments for those first 4 months) but do you know what that $500 outstanding charge is? Or will that also drop off after 120 sunsets?
